DasVonAlbatross Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Exactly what the title says. I know we have a metal one, but I don't care what you put here, as long as it's music. Can even be the 8-bit weird stuff. I'll go first. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_Sz_STo4-s Radiohead = Good. 2001: A Space Odyssey = Good. Radiohead + 2001=Better. Wrong section, sorry. Can someone move or delete this?

Myst42 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Ahhh the strange things that can be found on the internet... I was looking for some sounds Id like to see mixed... These are the Ingredients I wanted: -Metal/Nu Metal -Celtic/Folk If somebody can recommend good bands?... The elements I like are power, a bit of darkness, mysticism and magic, melody over screaming and powerful drums over fast accelerated things, emotiveness over agressiveness... Ive never heard Nu Metal combined with celtic, but Id bet If its done right It would be awesome... It could be said Nu Metal is an evolution to a different genre, but I like some things fro It that are not present in original Metal... Besides Ive heard many Metal bands and very few really sound unique and powerful to me... Dont mind me, its just my opinion... But I grew tired of the battery bashing and monkey screaming most of average bands have... A good drumming and a powerful screaming can make wonders if used correctly, but most so many people abuse them and its no fun anymore... Dont get me wrong, I like pure Metal too, but not just anything... That and the fact Nu Metal is darker than average Metal without being as "satanic" as Black or Death Metal or as depressive as Gothic Metal Black: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dW6aNAZGTM This finding would be gothic... a bit happier than usual, but still http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10jU44QqYhE ... I didnt put Evanescence, cuz according to some recent findings its more NuMetal + Gothic than Gothic Metal I could have put other pure Gothic Bands like Epica or Nightwish... but I didnt want to Nu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1K9jBL2syJ8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBEE-t-uyI0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNH4IdCJZf8 While one is a necromantic darkness, the other one is more primitive and animalistic. And in most cases you can appreciate the power of a melody which is the central piece instead of screaming... There was the other problem, that If you search for Metal, is likely to get lost in the 935234856293485623987269587235726293874629384532 million metal bands there are. And finally, having sooooo many different low-profile bands, the really good ones get lost in the mass, and/or dont get enough production to improve the quality of their material and get more publicity Fould plenty of weird things, looking for the perfect combination... I was focusing on celtic, but my search is still not over... I just wish there were more things like this when looking for celtic metal... And I also wish there was more production and quality for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ta1lIN32E_E I was also interested on some oriental/arabic sounds These guys mixed Nu Metal with spanish Flamenco, legacy of the Moorish occupation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUqHHm0T8XU So among the weird things, somebody tried to take nightwish kinda stuff and add pop into the mix Nice experiment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3ladZrO7as My adventures in youtube willl continue then... I dindt put this in the Metal appreciation thread because very often ive seen people say if its not like the metal they're used to listen, its not metal...
