Confused about Virt-A-Mate

Recommended Posts

Hey there,

So i just bought a Vive a couple of weeks ago and im trying a lot of new games. Now i ran into "Virt-A-Mate" but i am very confused. Do you need to support them on Patreon to actually use Custom Content ? I keep trying to add plugins or customize addons but the game just tells me to support them. I didn´t read about this anywhere so im kind of stuck. I installed 2 different versions to see if the newer ones let you use Custom Content but i have no luck. I feel like i wasted so much time. I spent hours installing the game and searching for addons and now this.

That was about my experience, I just supported at the $2 level, not a bad deal and you can close it and re-subscribe when there's an update that matters. I think you should be able to load scenes for free, or at least models, but you're definitely locked out of plugins (which is where the sound usually is, as far as I can tell).

You need the $2 tier to load scenes that people make, which is the bread and butter of virt-a-mate. I was just as confused as you. It does not show the options in the menu that you do not have access to. When you add the keys for the paid version, you'll notice more options and features you can do.

You need the $4 tier if you want to save scenes, in case you changed things. I opt to do this since I attach the extra plugins (scripts) "Passenger" and "Improved PoV" to the character I want to view from first person in scenes, as it plays better with the animations. That way I can add the plugins, configure them, then save a copy of the scene. When I load it, I just go into edit mode, select the actor, select root, go to plugins, then open Passenger options and take control of the actor.

You need the $8 tier if you want to make new animations or if you want to add atoms (objects) like dildos and such to the current scene.

The $2 is doable for most people, I just like to lower the amount of work I have to do. You can find loads of scenes on the subreddit or on the official scene distribution site.
