Backporting SSE Meshes?

I've been trying to backport a mod recently for my own uses in LE. The mod is Female Creature's Reworked, found here:

The mod author came back after a few month hiatus and said there was an update on the third, as well as replying to a comment of mine saying they'd look into the meshes for backporting. On the third, the author deleted their account. So, after some google searching, I've seen a few people say that backporting the meshes is as easy as importing them to blender, fixing them, and exporting them using a plugin back to LE format. I'm already fairly experienced in using Blender, but what does "fixing" the mesh mean? What changed between LE and SSE that makes the meshes incompatible?
