I can't afford a VR setup and think its kinda gimmicky. TBH I wish they would have just given us half life 3. Pretty fucking disappointed that we got another Half-life and they couldn't even finish the fucking series. Don't get me wrong, I can see VR porn become a major thing, especially as it becomes more accessible, but as far as actual gameplay-wise, the one time I tried VR it felt really clunky and gave me motion sickness. Seriously though just gotta say again, VALVE YOU HAVE NEGLECTED TF2 FOR SO GOD DAMN LONG AND YOU DECIDE TO GIVE US NOT HALF-LIFE 3 REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE 1

Seriously though just gotta say again, VALVE YOU HAVE NEGLECTED TF2 FOR SO GOD DAMN LONG AND YOU DECIDE TO GIVE US NOT HALF-LIFE 3 REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE haha, i feel you bro, id prefer a half life 3 over alyx too. i dont know when youve tried VR last, its definately not clunky anymore and the motion-sickness is kind of normal. almost everyone has it for the first few hours, ive had it and it passes. after you get over the motion sickness it is REALLY immersive, playing well made games like ALYX in vr after youve gotten past the initial motion sickness feels so awesome and next gen i cant even describe it properly, you kinda have to experience it. and VR porn is something entirely else aswell, i couldnt go back to normal videos. playing adult games like Virt-A-Mate made honeyselect, playhome or a heavily modded skyrim obsolete immediately, the amount of freedom you have there to create and edit your own scenes with ease cant compare to anything else. it also is available for desktop. unforunately this is not what this topic is about, i wanted to motivate some experienced modders to get ALYX in their sights, please stick to the topic @ future posters. 1
megadoom41 Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 I'm not familiar with the tools for it but because its source its probably pretty easy to mod, the problem with modding half life: alyx is the barrier to entry; basically most people are to poor to even try the game to begin with
Kirito1268 Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 its source 2 so the source dev tools technically work but not that well valve released Source 2 Dev tools earlyer this week which helps with that
ufjoif Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 They released a map editor. Granted, it is an extremely powerful map editor, which is capable of doing things you previously WOULD have needed dev tools for, but there are many things you can't do. Of course, there are also many things you CAN do, such as model replacements. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what exactly about HL:A you could lewdify. The enemies, perhaps? Those are mainly headcrab zombies and combine soldiers. You see citizens for approximately all of 5 minutes. I suppose you could replace the headcrab zombies with nude female models, and that's something I would personally quite enjoy, but it'd be a gimmick, more or less, and the tone of the campaign would take you out of it, I feel. As for the Combine soldiers - the cut HL2 Combine Assassin is something you could adapt, quite possibly. But you would need to record female voice lines for all the soldiers, if you wanted to make it anywhere near decent, and that would be a major undertaking. This is all not even mentioning that the original Half-Life 2 never did get any significant lewd mods, unless you count FakeFactory's Cinematic Mod (I don't), so the chances of HL:A, which I think in future will be looked on as an interim title, having anyone that is both capable and motivated of making one in the community, are quite slim in my opinion. I mean, you even play as a female character, but never get to see her body, so that's already the biggest source of lewdness right out of the window. And there's also no friendly NPCs that fight alongside you, so that's another opportunity gone. 1

Seriously though just gotta say again, VALVE YOU HAVE NEGLECTED TF2 FOR SO GOD DAMN LONG AND YOU DECIDE TO GIVE US NOT HALF-LIFE 3 REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the thing is theres a few mental trainings to help with motion sickness first two is up to how your mind works but their simple either immerse yourself so much you no longer are actively thinking of stuff outside the headset or my side is to actively remind yourself of your surroundings this way to remind yourself of the real world then split these two in your mind us a apart of your mind to remember your irl body is a thing but then use another part to enjoy the world your in 2nd one is much harder another tip is to use sitting modes these can help as its simuler to using a controller and can help as your not actively moving around and the final one is just resist it like the person below your comment said your body will eventually adapt to vr by its self I use a oculus 2 with PC support this does pretty well still sometimes lag from the headset but as long as you train your mind and body to handle it you should be fine exposure can also help train your mind to deal with issues like motionsickness
