Steam Two years behind

OK so I've heard that the steam version of this game is 2 years behind the original release, and I was wondering if they are doing the same road map doing the same events to release the content in the same order?

And also, can I still download new cozzys and will they be updated automatically? Seems to have worked a couple of times, but not sure if I should just download all of them.

It seems some events have been skipped over, one of the later events was released early as a bonus gacha and Nagisa was released before Fiona so things are in slightly different order.
