Swanky Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Hey, recently started New Vegas Bounties 3 again. Everything runs as it should... except for the part I have to kill Porter. He's in a rather secluded area in Frosthill with some old barracks - which don't show for me. Like, at all. Having all mentioned prerequisites (Honest Hearts, Lonesome Roads & the Someguyseries), there are a lot of exclamation marks of missing things (houses, debris, ladders? also indoor stuff) around the area. Reinstall of the mod did not relieve the issue. Is anyone else having the same issues? Guest Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Your missing assets particularly meshes. You would need to click one of the red exclamation points get it's ID open fnvedit type that ID, look at that object's mesh data find the folder in your FNV directory it points to or in MO and see if that file is installed for whatever mod or if it has a bsa. If it is there something terrible has happened and the game isn't reading them usually too many plugins but from your list that shouldn't be the case.
Swanky Posted November 22, 2019 Author Posted November 22, 2019 That's good advice. I ran a quick check. In my game, the asset 4c01ae90 is missing. Loading all mods to that point using FNVedit (not using MO) I cannot find a FormID with that but with 4b01ae90 (NVB3 is listed as 4B in FNVedit, funnily enough), which points back to a vanilla asset - of which I am pretty sure it has been there the 140 hours of playtime prior to that issue. Might try to switch back to the encrypted mesh bsas to see if it makes an impact, switched to roybatty's versions about 50 hours into the game. Never noticed a difference, though. € Okay now that's weird. Didn't really change anything on my setup. But I'm having red exclamation marks all over. Just reloaded a very old save on a hunch, and there was vanilla stuff missing in goodsprings all over. Not all stuff, but lots of stuff. Gonna check the basics, file integration, archive invalidation, the works. €² Think I now know what happened. 1st of all, some time ago I happened to use Roy Batty's bsa extractor that created a few extra .bsa files and decompressed things from that zlib stuff inside. It also needs a few more entries in the .ini files for invalidating purposes. Just yesterday it seems that I didn't have had those files read only since I changed some entries for threaded AI and such. Aaaaaand.... I happened to start the game without steam running, so - it started FNV through the launcher and it completely shot my .ini files and most of its settings to $h1t. Reverting to the old .bsa files remedies all issues; and I'm going to have to fiddle around with the bsa extractor again to hopefully get it working again alongside Bounties 3 - the file adds another meshes2.bsa and puts those into the sarchives in the .ini, yet hopefully it has the same subfolder structure so the mod knows where to look for the assets. Long story short... I effin' hate the Vegas Launcher. Solved.
