Follower with custom spell?

I have been trying to add spells from Forgotten Magic Redone to my followers, since AFT dont let me teach them these spells.

 

Followed these instructions to the letter: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/754151-tutorials-without-youtoob/page-2#entry6035531

 

But the game crashes on load, and if I reload the plugin in CK, all the spells disappear from the npcs.

Is there some other method to add custom spells to npcs?

Use NFF instead - but this might require a new playthrough.
