Malphias Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 I have several mods from here now and one of them is really ticking me off. Not sure which one it is and if the effects can be turned off or not. Most every time I am forced to load a save. The effects occur when I lose a fight and a "Potion of Whatever" is equipped (So it says in the upper left hand corner of the screen)...shouldn't it really say "Potion of Whatever" is consumed? At any rate, it was fun...for about 5 seconds. It ruins the scene when you can't see it, and the effect apparently doesn't wear off. I waited in game for hours, fast traveled to a city, visited a shrine to remove diseases...nothing would make it go away. Anyone know what mod might be doing this? None of them say anything about it in the MCM settings. It's really annoying.
Guest Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Loadorder, just so people who tries to help you don't need to guess between thousands of mods you may not use. By memory I think Cursed Loot and skooma whore would be the main culprids.

I haven't tanked up on Skooma or drugs yet. So I have no real idea what the mod does. Still, it seems the most likely. Too bad the mcm settings say nothing about turning on/off certain drugs. \

If you can say "I have no real idea what the mod does" about a mod, why do you even have it installed?
Malphias Posted August 6, 2019 Author Posted August 6, 2019 So, you have one of those memories where you can remember every word of every book you've read? Most of us don't. Yes, I read the descriptions, how many of those do you remember? Saying there are visual effects then showing them are two different things and they do not include examples on the page. Now I have to decide if I want to keep it or rid myself of it. The MCM settings doesn't allow you to pick and chose which drugs can be taken, which is too bad. From what I've seen so far, there is only one I'd get rid of as it is a waste of my time. The effect is like being extremely drunk...double vision. Bright, vibrant color. Extremely distorted screen. Very hard to move around and if it lasted a few minutes, fine. But as I said waiting and even fast traveling wouldn't not remove it. Impossible to play and waiting in game for 3 days for it to just go away, is not a solution. However, there is mention of taking another drug and it replaces the effects? I'll have to give that a shot. Carry a few with me until the next time this effect shows up. Now, if you'll excuse me Mr Sunshine. I'm off to work.

No need, I just know what every mod I have installed does, more or less. And if I need to know the details I go back to the mod description/readme. I don't have a single mod I can say "Oh jeez I don't know what this does, but I have it here". If you want to tweak something that its not in the MCM you would need to do it manually with xEdit. Asking on the mod's topic about how to do it, or check if others have done it already, would help you.
KonaKoffee00 Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I agree with Sternum that checking the description and looking at related comments before installing is the best bet for smooth implementation. There are plenty of sites that talk about the hows and whys of mods, game issues occurring, and how to fix them. Too often there is a rush to judgement where the problem lies with a mod or its maker. But actually I found the poster's comments just plain sarcastic and bitter after asking for help - the likes of which stem from a lack of understanding on just how mods work. Using simple tools like xEdit, related apps and help videos for heavily modded builds usually point out or fix the problem in my opinion.
