Unorginal Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Recently I've gotten back into Stellaris and Modding has been on the mind. Now that I've invested in certain portraiture mods however I've been searching for a way to change species portraits/class mid-game without finagling through save-files. So far I only managed to find one now very outdated mod on the steam workshop that would allow you to change species class in the middle of a play through and even then, it was through the gene modding screen. Alternatively, a mod that forcibly disables base-game portraits was something that I considered but I couldn't find that either nor did I understand the 00_species_classes.txt and 01_base_species_classes.txt files well enough to feel comfortably modding them to turn them off in the AI's randomization rolls. Lines like this from 00: # These should not be used for randomly generated species non_randomized_portraits = { "human" } And lines like this from 01: } # These should not be used for randomly generated species non_randomized_portraits = { "mam_rat" } Seem promising but I'm not willing to mess with them myself without the go-ahead form someone more familiar with Stellaris's Coding Just to be clear I know that in the base game you can change species portrait through ascension perk genemodding but one, it locks you into genemodding and two, it doesn't allow you to change species class as far as I can tell meaning portraits can't be changed. Any help or directions are welcome. If you've got a mod to recommend pleases do so.
