Oxygen Not Included can now be modded!

What is the game?

 

In the space-colony simulation game Oxygen Not Included you’ll find that scarcities of oxygen, warmth and sustenance are constant threats to your colony's survival. Guide colonists through the perils of subterranean asteroid living and watch as their population grows until they're not simply surviving, but thriving... 

Just make sure you don't forget to breathe.

With this games unique art style lies great and very sexy opportunity! Modding has just been added to the game and although not yet fully released yet Oxygen not Included is a very well made game that presents plenty of opportunity and lasting fun!

I'm not exactly sure what kind of adult modding you could do with this game?  I guess maybe a swap out or add a few entertainment buildings for a porn show/game and a masturbation station?

 

On the surface, it doesn't seem great for adult modding, since the game focuses on machines, systems, pipelines, and dealing with waste products.  Rimworld lends itself much better thanks to the focus on people and their needs.

Well I did some personal modding back on the day (Texture editing mostly)
However the sprite-sheet for the characters were really limited. 
With really low options for you to really edit.
The game also uses (or used) random selection of parts when creating a character.

Well in the end after making a handful of mods I just gave up on the idea since this randomness was kind of breaking the mods itself (Male characters with long hair (intended for female), feminine anime eyes on males, you get the gist of it).

So in short, if you wanted to make some waifus it would be almost impossible.
I don't know how much the game is mod friendly now.

But the idea of creating some "nice" machines is pretty neat if possible. Like picking the relaxing table and turning it in a fuck machine.
Then again if it really is possible I might go back to play the game.

I believe now there's ~35 fixed duplicants that you can be offered.  They always use the same combination of face and hair, so you might be able to edit those.  However all dupes use the same body, not much that can be done there unless you decide that all of them are going to be one sex in the mod.

 

You can take a look at some of the modded buildings so far on Steam.  Some of them change existing buildings or add new ones.  I don't think adding a fuck machine massage table or maybe a mind break thing for the skill scrubber (respec) would be a stretch at all.

Hm. The dups (duplicants, little humanoids) in the game have some needs, including food and fun. They have bodily excretions which can be purified in various buildings ....

 

Ideas:

- a masturbation station could provide fun (and protein for cooking)

- dups already greet each other when they meet, maybe add an attraction system that can trigger more explicit stuff?

- Sex need where they become unhappy (and/or masturbate in public) if it's not satisfied

- Prostitution

- Prostitution skill, attractiveness value, sexy / unsexy / lusty / rapist / chaste perks

- sex skill, possibly foreplay / oral / vaginal / anal skills

- virgin yes/no tracking

- maybe steady relationships

- a building that allows non-resident johns for your whores to teleport in and out

- BDSM buidling maybe

 - the game has a trait system, maybe add rapist (may rape someone if sex need too high and no whores available), BSDM kink that triggers the need for that building, bi/gay/futa dups

- maybe a table where you can set who's allowed to woo whom (and see how attracted they are)

- some explicit statues and paintings for your artists

- maybe the massage table could be adapted for prostitution, or BDSM (what do they call these vibrating chairs?)

- Apothecary recipes for aphrodisiacs and sex drive calmers.

- Weed crop?

- Condoms, the Pill, pregnancy system? There's no child-age characters in the game though.

- there's some alien creatures in the game, possibly something with tentacles.

 

Not sure what to call such a mod. Condoms not included?

Why not both? If you do a good job and manage all sexual tastes and needs then everything will be fine. If you screw up then rape happens. And with that a big moral debuff. And probably a dark spiral into madness.

The machinery is just there to take care of the needs of the duplicants. So why isn't there a need for sex?

 

Picture this: Every duplicant has both a sexual needs meter and a set of fetishes / preferences. The sexual need meter will give a huge nerf to moral if not fulfilled. If properly fulfilled it will grant a huge boost to moral.

 

The fetishes act as a way to tell what a duplicant want and will not do. They start up pretty basic: oral, vaginal, anal, sub, dom, toys ... However the branch up like a skill tree. Within time and practice a preference for having a bit of vaginal intercourse can turn a duplicant into the colonies designated slut. However unlike the attributes most dupplicants will be rather limited in the set of things they can and/or will do. For example most dups won't want to engage in sadomasochistic practices.

 

To balance the moral boost system this is not a free system. Sure having a slutty duplicant will keep everybody happy but it will tie up the duplicants and distract the daily activies. Within time there is demand for more and more toys, dedicated buildings and time. For more elaborate acts need more time. But basic acts simply do not produce the needed level of depravity for a proper moral boost. It is up to the player to balance this. Alternatively the player can simply opt-out and let the duplicants only do the very basic. Which is daily mastrubation and/or sex within the beds.

 

I will give an example: A dup starts with a tendency for oral and being submissive. She (or he) might give out a blowjob in the beginning. Making one dup happy. But you could build a glory hole which will tie that dup up for a few hours in the cycle, but improve moral for all other dups that want to use that. Just next to the bathroom, used during the morning routine. Within time she has advanced her own fetishes and the fetishes of others. So the glory hole is no longer effective. Instead you might want to play to her submissive tendency and build a sex rack/dungeon. Within time she is basically tied up (literally) the whole time but improves the moral dramatically.

 

Another dup might have the tendency to be a slut. In the beginning she will sleep with one or two dups per day. But if you foster this behavior she might become something of the towns slut. Her cloth will change into something more "suiting" for that task. Short skirt, revealing cloths, high heels .... And she will start to work less often and attract customers more often.

 

Other example: A dup (she or he, for times sake I call her she) is interested in toys. So inserts a butt-plug you manufactured and goes trough her day with a moral boast. However within time this leads to an increase of her fetish stats and these toys won't work anymore. Within time she needs a full fuck machine to get her rocks off.

 

I believe such a system would play well to the general moral system (start small but get extravagant, complex rooms within time). However it would be quite the task to properly animate this mod. So I believe that the rules that mod might implement are not that hard, to do the animation and art however is very challenging.

i wouldn't make it so the need isn't fulfilled anymore once a new level of fetish develops, but your dupes also require more moral when they level up, so there's a need to develop a counter for that and that can be done by satisfying their newly developed fetishes as those level up aswell.

 

idk if the sex of the dupes has been implemented into the game yet. there are characters that appear to be female or male but that's just by name and sprite so far - no behavioural difference at all - everything's unisex.

i hope modders can change that.

 

tbh it's already very complicated to manage the vanilla game without a "bachelor degree in ONI" and adding more needs than easily affordable solutions will only make it near impossible.

So glad to know I'm not the only truly sexually depraved person out there, lol.  Being totally sincere saying that.  My sims all have graphic sex from sims 2-4, my stardew valley characters are all nudist sex fiends, my skyrim characters were all male and female whore rapists into bestiality, why not ONI?  lol.  Got here kind of hoping there was something, lol.

You know, it would be possible to at least make erotic sculptures and paintings.  There are new sculptures and paintings modded in already.
