plandr Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Hi. Hoping someone can help. So I created an original race in the creation kit. I have a body mesh (and textures) that I want to assign to it independent of the default body mesh/textures. What do I need to do in the creation kit for my race to read the meshes from the new folder? I can't find the place where I would make a directory/reference. Haven't found a tutorial online that addresses this yet, either (although obviously many do it w/ no problem). Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Best, plandr
Ark of Truth Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 This should be in Skyrim's Technical Section.
Ark of Truth Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Create the folder structure you want. When you select the body part meshes just point to the new locations with the custom structure. Simply as that. Currently not near my PC so I am doing this from memory.

Best, plandr [/quote'] A body is made up of 3 armor addons and an Armor. Create an armor addon for body and name it something like aaRACENAMENakedBody ( this is only for ID name, it does not need an Item name ). Select 32 body as biped object and the Body you wish to to use as your Bipedal object. Do this again for hands and feet ( Biped objects 33 and 37 ). Now create an Armor ( not an armor addon ). Name it something like aaRACENAMESkinNaked. Select all 3 slots used for your ArmorAddon, so 32,33 and 37. In the middle bottom you will see Models area. Right click here and select New. A window will open and you can type in the top to search for the Armor Addons you made before. Add all 3 to this ( the Body feet and hands ). Now that you have created the armor, go to your Race. Click the Body Data Tab. You will see a drop-down named Skin ( right next to Decapitate Armor ). Click this and select the armor you made using the 3 body parts from the list. Your Custom race is now using your custom body. You can not just link the Body Nifs you have to new skin textures and expect Skyrim to show them. If it is not done in CK Skyrim will still display the textures in the default folder locations. To get your new race to also use a different Skin Texture then all vanilla races or other custom races, you need to create two new Texture Sets in the CK as well. You will only need to do this for 2, since feet and body share the same textures. So you need body and hands. After you have created the new Texture sets go back to your ArmorAddons and right under the Bipedal Object where you selected the Body mesh you wanted to use before, you will see a drop-down menu you can use to select your new body textures. The easiest way to begin making these by the way, is to use the existing ones and rename them to create new ones to make the changes with. So in Creation kit search these under all : NakedTorso NakedFeet NakedHands SkinNaked SkinBodyFemale or SkinBodyMale SkinHandFemale or SkinHandMale Good luck and have fun creating your custom race. Peace, ~Shay P.S : you name them with AA at the start so that your custom stuff is almost always at the very top of any drop down list in the Creation Kit. This makes finding and linking anything you make much easier then having to scroll through the big lists to find them.
