I need help with making wigs

I've been searching the last couple of days on google for tutorials and videos on how to make wigs with no luck at all. I did find one post( Link ), and I did what it said, but it wasn't much help. I need to make wigs to change my characters hair, because the custom race ( Human Beast Races - Revamped ) has a bug that brakes the hair and eye sliders in the showracemenu, you can slide them back and forth but nothing changes...figures it had to be those two that broke .

 

So, I though I could change these hairs (Mostly Peggy12 Special) into wigs. I need like a Creation Kit, Wigs how to guide for dummies, this is my first attempt at using the Skyrim creation kit. This is what I've done so far....

 

1. Load the creation kit and go into Data with Skyrim.esm, Update.esm, mortenhairs.esp, check-marked and my wig project.esp set as active.

 

2. Then I find the Peggy12 Special, double click on that...the only thing I changed here is the haircolor12TrueBlack, then OK.

 

 

 

3. Now I go into items/armor and I selected armorelvenlighthelmet, and made a duplicate. double clicked on that and then changed the name ( under where it says ID ) to Peggy12 Special Wig. Then where it says world model, I edit that pointing to the Peggy12special.nif for both male and female. Next I edit the Icon, and point that to the Peggy12special.dds and then OK.

 

 

 

4. Next I place the armorelvenlighthelmetDUPLICATE001 into a unowned chest that I placed earlier in Whiterun, and then save.

 

 

 

So now I load up the game, go to the chest that I placed and get the wig...I'm thinking, that was easy...then I equip it and I have a elven light helmet on instead of my new wig .

 

 

 

 

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, If anyone has an idea what I might be doing wrong, I'm all ears, I don't have a clue at this point...any help would be greatly appreciated.
