sisgood Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I know you guys probably have covered this before but I'm back after a looooonnnnng hiatus (basically got disgusted by the lack of good clothing/armor mods) and really need some help with implementing the lovely race/hair mods. Iv'e downloaded the showracemenu mod that transports you to a different place and ONLY shows edits within your own race, I crash, I tried to use a couple of race mods, I crashed... epicly. Finally, I managed to get a halfway decent character made only using apachii hair (the additional hairs made me crash) and as many texture/mesh mods as I could throw at the game lol. And now I can't change ANYTHING about the character for beans. Please help! I optimized my load order with BOSS and I"m only running two unrecognized mods according to BOSS, only two armors that weren't on nexus (soon to change lol) So I really don't know what the heck the problem is. Is there some mod which, similar to NCP edit, you can change your characters looks outside the game, plugin a file and not have to deal with crashrim's glitchy race menu? I've been so frustrated by the glitchiness of Skyrim that I blasted one of the employees on a PM on Bethesdas forum (lol) and am about three tries away from going back to Oblivion (bless that (comparitively) stable software) and forgetting that glitchrim ever existed. I'll post my load order later on but I'm about to go off for some fun with friends. Hi everyone! I'm back!
Schrodinger's Trap Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Apachii hair tends to cause alot of crashes for some reason. Try installing every mod you need except Apachii hair and see if it still crashes.
FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 The character creation menu has been notoriously fickle ever since the game's release. These days, hair mods in general seem to be the main culprit. If you have several, or have accumulated quite a number of them over time, think about which ones you actually *use*, and de-activate the rest. For now, pick a Vanilla hair, and find a place in-game which seems to be low-demand graphics wise, save, and enter showracemenu there to try again. Take the same approach with ALL your graphics mods, to be honest - think about which ones you actually *use*, and think about lower-res options. A Skyrim populated with 1024 textures and a good ENB can look - and play - even better than a game which is modded with every 4096 option available.
sisgood Posted December 19, 2012 Author Posted December 19, 2012 Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna try that - Oblivion and Fallout hairs here I come - and see if those options work. I can live without Apachii... as long as I can have lotza other hairs lol. But consider this a request. Make a program similar to NPC edit that lets you change your appearance OUTSIDE the game. Should make crashes due to changing your look a thing of the past.
igora Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 hey, i had the same problem, and i fixed it by : 1) in dawnguard, you can pay to change your face ONLY that ! no race change/sex change warning spoiler on the location ! in the thieves hide out in Riften 2) there is a mod on the nexus that teleports you to a white room and you can change all you want ( sex/race/face/... ) forgot the name sorry ... BUT watch out ! if you use an ENB , that room won't be white , mine was all dark !
wrender27 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 No matter what I used apachii hair crashed me if I had any other mods installed. so I found this http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/27847 and it allowed me to use all the other hair and race mods I could find.
