Staying safe with adult games

This may be a stupid question or I may already be about to take the best precautions, but I was wondering how people stay away from viruses and other malicious entities when playing adult games.

I plan to use a virtual machine to play them, and I do plan to have an antivirus on that VM too. Is this all the precautions I need to take along with using the "This link/program looks way too sketchy move on" philosophy?

Nothing a good virus scanner can't fix.  LL is very good about screening files, and usually Patreon stuff is too.  Beyond that... well, don't even click on a site that ends with .RU

A good virus scanner will scan files as they are being downloaded, so it will flag and deny them from even getting to you in the first place.
