armor mesh bigger than body mesh bodyslide

i keep getting this when trying to build bodyslide armor meshes 

 

where the armor mesh seems bigger than the body and is sortof just floating

and its the same thing if i try it in game

 

anyone had this issue before ?or any suggestion what it might be
