Failed to load Setup.xrc BodySlide MO2

So, I've spent the past four hours scouring the internet for something to fix this, and while I've stumbled upon a few threads, none of them have been remotely helpful.  Some people said restarting their computer worked (didn't for me) some people suggested clean installing BodySlide (didn't work) and plenty of other "solutions" that may have worked for others but just didn't do anything for me.  When I run BodySlide through the .exe as normal, it opens, it's all good (obviously I'm missing my MO stuff and the ability to build bodies/outfits.)  The moment, however, I try and open BodySlide through MO2, it tells me that Setup.xrc has failed to load.  I have no idea what's causing this, and it's driving me insane.  I added some new armor mods and would really like to build the outfits.  If anyone could provide any help at all, that'd be great.  The curious thing is, this worked totally fine for the longest time, but it just recently stopped, and I had added/done literally nothing to skyrim in months.  As well, even if nobody knows how to fix this, are there any workarounds to build a body/outfit for MO without running it through MO?

PS: Yes, I've read BodySlide's official FAQ, none of those suggestions worked either.

After many more hours of searching, and literally wiping my MO and reinstalling everything, there is no solution in sight.  I have created a jank workaround and I wanted to post it here for anyone who happens to google this issue and no other solutions work, as the problem is infuriating and I just want nobody else to have to feel this way.  I'm going to detail the steps very precisely so there is no ambiguity for anyone who could struggle (so if you're experienced and some of these things are common sense, just ignore them), and no way to mess this up.  In 99% of conceivable worlds this jank workaround does the trick but will take a lot of hard drive space, so do with it what you will.

DISCLAIMER: PLEASE, DEAR GOD, PLEASE BACKUP EVERYTHING YOU ARE ABOUT TO TOUCH, I DO NOT WANT TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF SOMEHOW THIS MESSES ANYTHING UP.

Step 1:  Forget you have Mod Organizer.  Don't open it, don't look at it, don't touch it even remotely.  For this fix, you effectively don't until the very end.  It's best to just pretend it doesn't exist until we need it so you're not tempted to try and mess with something that simply won't work.

Step 2:  Copy the ENTIRE Skyrim directory from wherever it may be installed.  You can put this wherever you'd like, I put mine on my D drive and named it "BS Skyrim Dummy", but you can put it wherever you have the most space, you're gonna need it.  For me, it was in "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim" but the path WILL differ for you based on wherever you have Skyrim installed.  As a side note, this WILL NOT work for NMM, Vortex, or any other non-virtual Mod Organizer without additional steps.  If you want to do this for use with NMM you NEED A FRESH Skyrim install then you can follow these steps in order.

Step 3:  After copying the entirety of your Skyrim Folder elsewhere, you need to head into where MO stores all of it's mods.  This should be located at "C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\ModOrganizer\<PROFILENAME>\mods" please note that here, you have to replace <USERNAME> with your windows username, and <PROFILENAME> with your mod organizer profile name.  From here, have two file explorer windows open, one in where we copied Skyrim in step 1, and the second here.  Go inside of EVERY folder that directly affects or adds texture/meshes/armors and copy all of the files/folders from within the main folder into your new dummy Skyrim location.  To make myself 100% clear, if you have BodySlide installed, you will have a folder called "BodySlide and Outfit Studio".  You are not copying this folder to the new dummy Skyrim data folder.  Not just the Dummy Skyrim location, but the data folder inside of that, you are going inside of this folder, and copying all of its contents to the new location.  DO NOT MOVE THEM, JUST COPY. This is something that I can't really help with, because you may have a totally different list of mods, but for a rule of thumb, copy any body mods, any body texture mods, any armor mods (even remodels) and BODYSLIDE (this is obviously the biggest piece of the puzzle.)  To list a few examples in case you're still scratching your head:  BodySlide, CBBE, COSIOHD, Immersive Armors, and Remodeled Armor for CBBE BodySlide are the big names that come to mind.

Step 4:  Make a "Test Overwrite" folder anywhere on the same drive as the "fake" BodySlide.  You can actually name this whatever you want, and if you're a madman, you can skip this step and pray everything works, but I would always err on the side of caution and do this anyways.

Step 5:  The grunt work is over.  Pat yourself on the back.  The hard part is behind you, and hopefully it wasn't even that difficult.  Now, run the "fake" BodySlide.exe from your dummy Skyrim.  When it asks you to choose a game directory, make sure you set it to the dummy skyrim data folder.  Then, adjust your sliders for outfits as you like, and when you're finally done hold down CTRL and check the box that says build morphs and then whilst holding down control click batch build.  It will ask you where you want to output the files.  If you're a lunatic who enjoys the pain of fixing broken mods and skipped step 4, then you'll output them to "C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\ModOrganizer\<PROFILENAME>\overwrite" (if this doesn't work, don't say I didn't warn you) but if you're a totally sane person that just wants a functioning Skyrim, you'll output them to the "Test Overwrite" folder you created, wherever that may be.  Now, you'll take the files from "Test Overwrite" and you'll copy them to "C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\ModOrganizer\<PROFILENAME>\overwrite" making sure not to overwrite things you don't want overwritten (for example if you already have your body built, and just want to build a new armor set)

Step 6: Relax.  You've done it.  Reopen Mod Organizer, and launch the game however you normally would.  Your troubles are over adventurer.  Any time you add an armor/body mod make sure you repeat step 5, or it's not gonna show up in game.  Enjoy Skyrim - Thot Edition as it was meant to be enjoyed, and hopefully you don't have any more issues along the way.

Hi Kixenos,

Sorry for the late reply, but I did want to see if I could help you, if you're still having issues (and haven't given up). So this is typically a permissions issue, wherein when you (rather your mod manager) tries to install Bodyslide, some (or all) of the files are not being written properly. The "easiest" fix would be to run MO2 as an administrator, THEN install Bodyslide (or uninstall/reinstall), and from there, things should work normally. An easy way to check if this is an issue would be to check inside your mod folders and see if the files that are supposed to be installed actually installed.

Let me know if this is any help!
