centerflag982 Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I haven't seen a separate help subforum, so here goes.  For some reason GIMP is suddenly refusing to treat transparencies as actual transparency - it loads it as black, and then saves it as black as well, resulting in horrible black seams, especially on skin textures. Even WIPs I've previously saved as .xcf with transparency load in all blacked out.  Example attached of how it's loading the Ida skin I had intended to edit.  No idea why this is happening, especially because it never did before like 15 minutes ago - and I didn't change any sort of global setting or anything, at least not that I'm aware of.
Dorabella Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 I'm not sure I'm not a Gimp expert, but you should be able to delete the black background with the Magic Wand tool, close in one layer and save it in PNG to be converted later to DDS, which is done with Photoshop
BBLAKE8571 Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 for the black I use the color select tool in gimp, select the black and then edit, clear selection, that will delete the black and you will have a transparent background, hope that helps also export to dds and select dtx5 and generate mipmaps
