Brown faces on some LooksMenu presets

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all,

For some reason I get the brown face bug on some presets in LooksMenu. I don't use the HD DLC and none of the npcs or the player character in my game have the brown face bug unless I load these specfic presets.

All the mods that are required by these presets are installed correctly and work fine. I tested if the presets work if I only install these required mods but the brown face bug still occurs. It still appears even if I re-install the whole game and the required mods.

I even tried installing the HD DLC but there is no change either.

I'm kinda out of ideas at this point since everything is working as it should but the presets still get messed up. Images in Spoiler!

Yup. This is caused by modders using 4K bitmaps in a 1K game. There's a fix on Nexus for this.

Google "Hi Res DLC Blackface"

?

I had tried to use the High Res DLC Black Face Fix before and it didn't work. HOWEVER I didn't notice the incompatibilities section in the description until now.

So I installed the High Res DLC Black Face Fix again and removed the Looks Menu Customization Compendium - HD DLC fix and now the brown face on the presets is gone.

Thank you very much! :)

So the custom headparts from LMCC work without its HD Fix? That's the most important question.

I also installed the UHD DLC on friday after buying a new GPU - with just LMCC + its own HD Fix, everything works fine.

But adding 2K texture replacers like Natural Face 2K (Fuse00) causes the brown face; using their 1K + HD DLC version works fine though.

Well i suspected the LMCC HD Fix to cause this, but didn't really have time for further testing because it's waaay too much fun being able to play with PRC ENB, constant 60fps and the UHD DLC (RTX 2070 here).

Changing the number in F4EE.ini won't fix the brown face by itself, it only stops the lag from downscaling.

This is from Ousnius:

Quote

Fallout 4 Head Textures and Tints:
----------------------------------
1.) Vanilla game:
- Regular vanilla or modded head textures will work.
- Regular LMC (LooksMenu Customization Compendium) will work.
- Keep F4EE.ini of LooksMenu at default resolution of 1024.
2.) With 2K face mod:
- Install ALL files of 2K face.
- Requires 2K compatibility patch for LMC.
- Set F4EE.ini of LooksMenu to resolution of 2048 (important).
3.) With HD DLC:
- Modded head textures that come with a 512 resolution specular map won't work as the tint specular resolution is 1024.
- Keep F4EE.ini of LooksMenu at default resolution of 1024.
4.) With HD DLC and 2K face mod:
- Install ALL files of 2K face.
- Requires 2K compatibility patch for LMC (NOT the HD DLC one).
- Set F4EE.ini of LooksMenu to resolution of 2048 (important).

So i guess this would have been 4.) if using Fuse00's Natural 2K Faces.

With Valkyr 2.0 for HD DLC & Natural Male 1K, i also figured the same what's written under 3.) here

really sorry for necroposting, but i have a similar issue. I am using a fuse00's natural 2k faces and get the black face while using a preset. I dont understand, which fix do i need to use and if it will applicable to fuses's mod.

(Sorry for "my" English, which I don't really understand. I use google translate. )

Fallout 4 "Brown-Face" code in the Looksmenu "* .json" under "Morphs" - "Preset" e.g. "36EF3650": 1, creates "Brown-Face".

Where does the code "36EF3650" lead? (see spoiler)

If I remove the codes under "Morphs" - "Presets" that generate "Brown Face", the face looks normal again!

But the origin for "Brown-Face" is still there, which one would like to remove. But how?

Not sure if you are using the looks menu companion but it has optional a HD and 2K patch which may help.

Also, some looksmenu overlay seem to trigger it. So i do not use them for the most part.

I found that these patches for buggy face not working. At least not for me.

Since i removed overlays, i do not have the problem anymore. Plus the patches i mentioned above.

The best thing i can think of, is to disable all overlays, if you have any, and switch them on one by one.

Btw. your preset is fabulous. I like it.
