Defeat Not Working?

For some reason, I'm struggling to get Defeat to work. As in, it's like the mod's not even there. But the MCM is there. But sometimes when I start a new game the MCM isn't there?? And sometimes I can get it to work if I disable and reenable it, or disable and reenable player victim. But it will at some point stop working again. I've got all the requirements installed. Weird thing is, it actually started doing this when I trimmed down my mod list (as in, it was working perfectly fine before that). I didn't take out anything that had anything to do with Defeat though, so I don't know why that would affect it.
