Hello everyone! I am mdqp, and this is the game I am currently working on. Here is the pitch, in case anyone is interested (shamelessly taken from my own patreon page):

284f7da0da03eaf2a247e24b484de0a9-dc56le4

Caliross, The Shapeshifter's Legacy, is a fantasy-themed game, which will follow a young up-and-coming historian, as she takes her first steps outside her hometown and into the real world, to learn more about the elusive nature of her own kind, the shapeshifters. Will she become a member of the Mage guild, or of the Adventurer's guild? Will she find out more about her heritage, or will she be too busy working extra time in sleazy bars to make a living?

The game will feature several factions, each with their own goals and objectives. With your actions, you might willingly or unknowingly benefit this or that group, as the event unfolds, but the open-world nature of the game will leave it up to you if you want to get more involved with the politics of the world, or if you want to just do your own thing.

As far as the adult content goes, the game will feature fetishes such as mind control, cowgirl TF, corruption and more, depending on the paths you'll follow. It will have a female protagonist (as hinted above), and will likely have submissive themes, for the most part (I can't exclude some dominant content completely, but it wouldn't be widespread).

The plan is to release monthy updates and have the latest version be available only to donors, unlocking the previous version to the public after a month. If you like what you see, consider following me, and telling your friends about my game.

Here is a link to the Patreon page (which also always has a link to the latest public version, near the bottom!):

Link to the changelog.
Link to my "unofficial" help page (plenty of spoilers).
Link to the walkthrough (please contribute anything you can think of to improve it).

Link to the H-scenes list (highly unfinished at the time of this writing, august 2020).
Do let me know what you think of it, and I hope you'll consider supporting me if you like what you see.  ;D Note: this game requires you to have the RTP installed, here is the link:

Like every month, another version just went live! You can find last month's update for free in the main page here, and the patreon-only version is linked here (for all supporters).

Have fun, if you give it a chance! ^_^

I took a look, surprising amount of content for a 0.something Version.

Trying to avoid Spoilers.

Tested Version 0.81b

Technically a typical RPG-Maker game, but with some improvements like a persistent load-feature at the in-game menu.

However i noticed a weird delay whenever i hit "load" while in game.

It can take a quite a couple of seconds until the game plays the sound which confirms

the selection, actual loading and saving is pretty much instant.

Quest log is useful and seems working, would not mind having it in the main menu.

Some creative mechanics, basically no grinding (a plus in my Books), daylight-cycle.

Seems to have one or two "bad?" ends, and mutual exclusive routes depending on decisions.

Seems to lean almost entirely towards submission with a few exceptions, personally i would prefer a few more dominant options for Charakters with high WIL(l).

Story is rather unique, not just another copy-paste.

Lots of Attention to detail when it comes to decoration and World-Building most Areas are nicely decorated.

"Smut" is decently written, and not totally generic, accessibility to scenes is dependent on your Charterer's INH(ibition), which can be influenced.

Some scenes can only discovered randomly by chance.

Some scene's a decently illustrated/animated, many purely text-based (and a bit repetitive)

Despite having a Quest log, the Game does not seem to have a "Red Tread" yet, which guides you to discover all the quests,

Walktrough is recommended for full experience, otherwise many things can only discovered by chance.

I encountered some minor bugs, like light not always updating, or getting a Chapter 3 Quest (Blood Ties) at the beginning of Chapter 1,

which made me wonder (for a while) why i cant't do this quest (yet).

It seems like a lot more content is planned, judging by the amount of placeholders.

Don't know if i'm being praised or mocked here, but apparently i'm not supposed to be there ?

Spoiler

The game has been chugging along for a while, which thankfully means content has piled up. By the way, the 0.82 version has gone public (the Patreon version is "1 month ahead" of the public one).

The delay for the loading is due to a script I use, which is there to avoid crashes/incompatibility when I add new scripts and people load save files from before said scripts were implemented. Since the game is still being tuned, I leave it there, even if the slow down is a bit annoying.

I tried to improve the UI a little, since certain omissions from the basic version of the game seem very annoying (hence, the load option in the menu). If anyone has more suggestions for the UI, they are free to let me know, I am always on the lookout for ways to make the experience smoother. I didn't add the questlog in the menu, since you can get there by pressing the "Q" key from the main map AND you can also open it if you read your journal, but it's not difficult to add to the main menu, if you think it's worth it.

Glad you liked some of the mechanics. ^_^

I have been trying to avoid "traditional" bad ends for a while, and that's why sometimes you are given the option to "rewind" time in order to avoid it. Realistically, however, I can't have the player keep playing in all scenarios (even if I want to add more events where you can join this or that faction that brainwashed you, rather than just have a bad end).

I tend to prefer submissive content, that's why the majority of it is themed that way, but I am trying to add a bit more "domme" content here and there (I don't know how much of it I'll add, however, it depends on a lot of factors).

I try to keep my stories original (or rather, I try to give them my own spin) if at all possible, so I am happy it shows. I am also happy you appreciate the maps. This is a pet peeve of mine, as a lot of RPG Maker games seem to have really large, empty maps that take forever to navigate, and I tried to keep it more reasonable, while trying to make them look good.

The smut is a bit uneven, probably because of the open-world-ish nature of the game. Also, writing in RPG Maker VX Ace proved itself to be a bit of a challenge, with the limited space and somewhat annoying text editor. If you can think of some of the scenes you find the most repetitive do let me know, and I might take a note or two on what to change/improve next.

I wanted the game to be more free-form, especially since I plan more mutually exclusive paths. There will be a few important plots, but other than the main quest, I wanted to keep most of the game optional. I wonder if I can improve how I present quests to players, if it feels like the walkthrough is more mandatory than optional.

I *think* the issue with the quest log should be fixed now, but if you notice it again (or if you find any new bugs), please, do let me know.

I do have quite a bit planned, but I worry if I'll have to cut a path or two short (the werewolves never seemed to raise enough interest, so their opening has been left orphan for quite some time now).

I am praising you! XD Not too many people seem to bother to use their transformations, unless it's strictly necessary. I wanted to add a few more secrets to the mountain, but I have been distracted by other content, so I never got around to it. Also, I need to space the content adequately, so I wonder if I shouldn't just move the area planned for that path somewhere else.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts, I hope you'll stick around with the game (and consider supporting me, if you like how things are going).

I loved this game, it was definitely one of those motivators to make my own :) Are you the artist?

Hi there (sorry for replying this late, I thought I had email notifications for the thread, but apparently not XD).

Glad you like the game! Hopefully, you'll enjoy the next update as well. ^_^

I am not my own artist (I make some minor edits to sprites and the faces used in the dialogues, but nothing beyond that), I commission the CGs to Redjet (he also has a Patreon, if you want to check him out).

Another month flew by, and another update was delivered unto us by the smut gods. If you are one of the blessed ones (meaning, you give me money to maintain my degenerate lifestyle), you can go here. For the free version, instead go to my patreon page.

Have fun, everyone! ^_^

Hi mdqp, are there generally speaking not many graphics in your game yet? I played it for two hours and maybe saw 3-4 scenes. I also couldn't find any enemies. I'm not really impressed by the game as there is a lack of drive to the character and her story. This would be way cooler if it started with a cool scene like a fight or something wild happening that introduces us a little bit to the world or the fight system.

It depends on how you define "not many". Compared to the number of scenes in the game, there aren't enough CGs, but we are talking about 50-60 CGs (without counting variations for those), and I am currently commissioning 5 more each month. I think the total is more than some commercial games. XD

Combat isn't the main focus (although there are fights). There are also ways to avoid certain fights using stealth, solving puzzles, etc. The gameplay is more centered around puzzles, using your spells to interact with the environment (a bit like old-school Zelda games).

The game is meant to be open-world(ish) which kind of affected the pacing a bit (I partly regret that, but it has its own advantages, and it's too late to change it at this point anyway).

Did you meet Alpharius in your house? He is the guy that comes to visit you after you sleep the first time at home, and he does provide more direction to the story, steering you on the main quest (and the first temple, if you go find him to the mage guild afterward). If  you don't like how the story is presented, though, I am not sure the game will be interesting enough for you, there are a few plot twists and things happening, but the pace will stay quite relaxed until near the end of the game (which isn't in the game yet).

Guess what? Here is your monthly update! Make sure to grab the latest free version from my patreon page... I-it's not like I want to tempt you into becoming a new patron and play the patron-only update... BAKA! XD (since I like my stupid tsundere joke so much, I'll even copy-paste it around all the forums now, so you can share your collective disappointment with me, aren't I nice?)

Joking aside, I hope you guys like the new content, enjoy! ^_^

We get another update this month... Just like every other month. XD

My patreon page is here, if anyone wants to check it (it's a useful hub for changelog, walkthrough and whatnot, even if you don't want to support).

This is the changelog for the free version:

  • mini-quest as a nymph/dryad + 1 scene when you complete the task (still not finished);
  • 1 new scene for the modeling job;
  • vampire quest;
  • 1 new scene for the ponygirl path;
  • 1 random scene for being drunk at the inn;
  • bath masturbation scene added;
  • added first "generic" fathers to the pregnancy system (drunk guy from the random event at night, and working at the brothel);
  • new quest (chapter 3 onward, guy appears nearby your house in Tarkas. LoM/vampires possible meddling, mutually exclusive);

Here is another update. Also, it dawned on me that having the link on my Patreon page might be bad for those who don't have a Patreon account, so I'll link the free version here as well, from now on.

Here is the changelog for version 0.93:
  • Werewolf path properly started (6 sexy scenes; new, longer intro; maps and NPCs added);
  • 1 new scene for the waitress job;
  • 1 new scene for Lea;
  • 2 new scenes for Eliza;
  • 1 new scene for Dominique;

As usual, the monthly update is here. The free version is always available at my Patreon page (I checked, and was able to enter even without being logged in, so I'll just keep redirecting people there). Here is the changelog, as well.

Anyway, enough talks. I hope you'll have fun! ^_^
