Adjusting deathclaw collision

I'm not terribly familiar with the modding process as a whole, but I would like to know if there is any way to alter the collision mesh associated with Deathclaws.  The problem is that they can't fit through doors and other tight spaces that a human can, even when it clearly appears as though they should.  This becomes a particular problem when using the playable deathclaw mod or keeping one as a follower.

How is collision handled in FO4, and what sort of steps would I have to take in order to scale down the collision model?  Is it something that can be done with Blender or will it require specific software to open proprietary file types?

Strange that you're saying this. I can't help about the collision thing, but i sure was hunted and killed by a Deathclaw when he passed through a wall that i didn't thought hw was going to go through.
One of them was the broken wall in the rooftop garden, and another in Malden. He 'freely' walked in the ruins of the Slocum's Joe, and, by the love of god, he didn't follow me through doors.

But i'm looking forward to it. It would be interesting actually if they ahd made him with an animation to break doors or squeeze himself through small places.
Maybe if only he was not that bulk and a bit more slim.. :)

@Di3sIrae If you're interested, download the playable deathclaw mod.  Enter combat mode as a deathclaw and try to get into the garage at the Sanctuary Red Rocket.  You'll see exactly what I mean.

Arguably the collision data is correct for the animations used in the game to prevent clipping.  Also arguably, a real Deathclaw would have no difficulty fitting through an open garage door (or any of the much smaller doors found in a Vault for that matter).

Which argument is right?

Huh i'm not contradicting you, just talking that i thought they wouldn't even walk through other places. I don't want to use the Deathclaw player mod and as i said, i'm looking forward to this idea. If they become able to pass through smaler areas it would be very interesting. Maybe you misunderstood me.

But in some way, it wouldn't be able to walk through normal doors without breaking something lol

Vault doors are big enough i guess. Hope you can find a way to do it.
