Wadarkhu Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Looking for someone with super smarts to help me understand Skyrim file structure! I'm not 1337 enough to mess around with NifSkope, so I don't really know what some files do! I feel like it's immensely helpful in solving problems if you know what file does what. Stuff like: Player textures? Player model? NPC textures? NPC models? Player/NPC skeleton? Several of these? Like that. Would be awesome to compile this kind of "know your Skyrim folder" -guide. That is all!

Wadarkhu Posted October 19, 2012 Author Posted October 19, 2012 Lol, I'm sure the intentions were good, but that wasn't helpful.
Guest ThatOne Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 Extract any body\skeleton\whatever mod you are interested in understanding to a temporary location and studying it's file structure. Given that: -All actors of a given gender use the same skeleton, including the player. -All actors use the same base texture, and a race-specific texture on top of that. It's pretty easy to figure anything you want out. Or, if you just want to know where stuff is, look at meshes\actors\characters\ folder. characterassets should have the male and female body models you installed, along with the male skeleton. characterassetsfemale should have the female skeleton.
