Hi new people!

Just thought I'd take some weight off of our great, hardworking models and explain how to do this shindig.

You should have 3 folders at all times: Prework data, mod work, and regular data folder in skyrim

One folder with back up data that confirmed work. I like to call it pre-work data. This folder should be updated to the latest working skyrim modload you have. Everytime you verify a new mod is working or update save! Do this by simply copying the new data folder from skyrim de into prework folder. Overwrite all files with new data. This will allow you to revert when you mess up.

Modwork folder is for skyrim64 creation kit, bar, and general work fixing mods. I'll explain those tools later.

Last is skyrim data folder. This is where the game data files are stored to be used. Most mods will be in this folder.

Now about mods and common errors. Read all the instructions for mods. There is two very common easily fixed errors. One is where your character just stands there with arms sticking out like a statue. You can still walk but no walking animation is played. This is caused by downloading a faulty animation or user error. Usually a fnis warning will also pop up.

Second common error is invisible body or invisible clothing. This is caused by failure to use bodyslide. I'll explain tools next.

Important tools: fnis, bodyslide, bae, and skyrim creation kit 64. The first two are so important that it will be impossible to download many mods without a basic understanding. Get to know fnis and bodyslide inside and out. Use these two tools WHENEVER you download a mod. Watch some videos explaining it. Spend a few hours learning. I'll post my favorite vids in the comments below.

Bae and skyrim creation kit 64 are essential rn, but likely wont be in the future. Rn I'd get a basic knowledge on both, but if you are reading this in a year your probably good.

Last but not least, asking for help. Please read the WHOLE description and try to read through the forums. Chances are that someone has asked for help on the issue earlier. If you cant find anything, or the forum is 90 pages long, go ahead and post. Provide fnis scripts along with mod load order. This will allow you to get help quickly. Be VERY nice to anyone who offers help and dont be offended if none comes. Most our modders are not paid and are very busy. If no one helps chances are the problem was already solved in the comments section, the solution is very easy, or they are really busy. If you fix the problem, post your solution for other noobs.

Thank you for reading and happy modding.

So your saying mod manager will back up files? I find the backup data folder is goo when I mess up but am unsure how, and I cant get it to work by deleting or disabling. Just delete data and reinstall. I didn't do this the first time and when I failed carastrophically I had to do a fresh install.
