One year later. Night City had not changed, the criminals were trying to make their mark while the corpos reigned unchallenged. The debacle with Arasaka had damaged them, but they maintained their leadership in the corporate world. And yet, the city retained its nocturnal charm, with neon lights luring crowds of people to try their luck here. But guess who was back? Yours truly, Eleanor! With longer hair but the same charm to seduce anyone. Look, I deliberately posed for your eyes only. Take your pick: my head, my breasts, my feet and soles... Now that you're done, let me tell you that I was able to come back because Victoria, my corpos alias, was found dead. A story that put an end to the hunt led by Arasaka where she became a legend in Night City for her actions. And thanks to that, I could see some familiar faces again... I met with my former partner Goro for an outdoor lunch in Japantown. It's partly thanks to him that Arasaka got off my back. After we dealt with Susan Abernathy, he continued his quest against the conspiracy and ultimately cleared his name. Takemura no longer had any reason to stick around Night City, which he utterly despised, and talked about moving back to his homeland. Of course, I also met up with Victor. Fixing me up, becoming a boxing champion and meeting Judy were all his doing. We had a training session on Kabuki's rooftops, for old times' sake. He told me about his trip to Europe, how much he enjoyed visiting new places and discovering new cultures, but he also missed Night City, and came back to his ripperdoc job. I obviously spent an afternoon with Panam. She showed me some rare corners of the Night City desert and her nomad camp, the Aldecaldos. We also settled on who had the largest breasts. As you can see, we weren't playing in the same league, but I was pretty proud of my smaller boobs. And the best for last, I paid a visit to my sweetheart Judy. She was in a virtual session and how surprised she turned out to see me after all that time! Judy jumped at me for a hug, I caught her and kissed her softly. It felt exactly like I expected our reunion to be, a moment of pure bliss. We had a girls' night out to celebrate my return to Night City. Panam and Judy got all dolled up for the occasion, and it was also a good opportunity for them to get to know each other! I didn't remember where we went or what we did, but I did recall that we checked into a hotel room downtown and I was carrying an inebriated Judy on my back. I didn't know how I was still holding on to my feet... Panam, on the other hand, could have carried on drinking until dawn. Our dresses came off and we fell asleep on the bed. Sleeping in the nude felt so good, especially when you're too drunk to care about modesty. When I woke up, I had the surprise of being hogtied. Hands and feet tied with red ropes and mocking chuckles behind me. I guess Panam & Judy wanted to play a prank on me. They could have gone further, like tickling me for instance, but they just left me to break free on my own. My life in Night City came to an end. Now I had the chance to live it wherever I wanted and especially with the person closest to my heart, Judy. Far from a decaying metropolis run by a group of corporations, I... no, we were starting this fresh chapter with a trip around the world, to discover new horizons. And I couldn't be more thrilled to take this leap into the unknown! I'm Eleanor and I thank you for your interest! A few days later, in Reconciliation Park, between Heywood and Corporate Plaza. Namaste people! Welcome to my weekly yoga session! Stretch your body and take a deep breath... One of the hardest exercises to do, but one of the simplest to see: touching your toes or feet with your hands while sitting straight on the ground. The Afterlife was located in Little China, in Watson's district. Rogue's legendary reputation as the best fixer in town made the club famous, since she was also its landlady. If you wanted to make a name for yourself in this line of work, this was the place to go. I could use this opportunity to honor my promise regarding Arasaka. "Hi handsome, I have a meeting with Rogue, can I pass?" The bodyguard remained stoic, waiting for her boss's approval. Eventually, Viktor stepped in to let me through. "It's okay Weyland, she can join us! Eleanor, please have a seat!" Viktor went off to the bar to let me chat one-on-one with Rogue. "So you're the one known as Victoria in the Corpos world. Cute outfit." “You've done your research, so you know what I'm looking for.” “Exactly. I've got a job for you Eleanor, do it right and you'll get your shot at revenge on Arasaka. I guarantee you first-rate intel." "Tell me more about the gig." "I have a nomad courier missing since dawn. She was supposed to cut a deal with Militech but I'm afraid she's been double-crossed. Anyway, find her and the cargo. I'll send her last coordinates to your phone." "In open desert, the perfect wilderness to clear out any problems. Do you think she's still alive?" "Probably, Militech won't kill her until she talks. And good luck getting her to say anything." "Okay, Rogue, I'm on it. I just have to go back to my place and get geared up first." "Viktor will drive you home, see you Eleanor." After a drive through Night City, Viktor dropped me off around the corner near my apartment. He lit himself a cigarette before closing our conversation in the car. "I wish you good luck, Eleanor. Live your best life with Judy and do whatever you think is right, keep her close to you no matter how bad things get." "Thanks Viktor! I'll try to do it, I promise. Why does this look like goodbye?" "Because I'm going on vacation! Thanks to you, I've earned enough eddies to drag my old carcass out of Night City! Keep the car, a gift from Rogue." "Well, I'll just have to get on with the job... Until we meet again, Viktor." I went upstairs, took a quick shower and changed into combat gear. Militech was another corpo, specializing in weapons manufacturing and private military contracts. In my opinion, Rogue's nomad was intended to steal their wares, got caught nosing around and held captive until she ratted out her employer. Not on my watch. I got in the car and headed for the desert. The coordinates pointed to the Sunshine Motel, a vacant establishment but with military trucks parked out front. No doubt, Militech had stationed themselves, their merchandise and the nomad prisoner here. I stashed the car and moved behind the concrete barrier, pistol drawn. Scouting operation: Militech vehicles, robots and turrets programmed to defend the area, with a few armed guards. No problem, I just had them engage each other. What intrigued me more was the voices coming out of the motel's upstairs window. I needed to approach discreetly. As I circled the motel, I was able to climb up to the second floor. A guard emerged from the room and shouted in the direction of the lowered voice. "Stop bitching, I'll be back after a break. You'd better think about what to say when I come back if you want this to stop..." The prisoner must have been detained here, in this room, probably restrained. Only one way to find out... I walked into the room with the handgun aimed forward. The closer I got to the toilets, the more a foul smell assaulted my nostrils: a mixture of urine and excrement disgusting for my nose. An efficient way to torture someone easily... The nomad was alive and well, hanging from the carabiner with ropes that kept her aloft. Militech's staff had stripped her topless and barefoot, leaving only the jeans. She had to suffer the bathroom's stench, but welcomed my presence. "Please untie me, I can't stand the smell any longer..." "You must be Panam, I've been assigned to find you. Let's get the hell out of this place!" Once untied, I carried her out of the bathroom. She had lost all muscle tone and needed a little help. Something that caught my eye when I held her in my arms was how opulent her breasts were, and natural ones too! "Hang in there, we still have a task ahead of us." I laid Panam on the overturned mattress. She coughed to clear the remains of the vile smell before gasping for air. "Listen, my name's Eleanor. We took cover behind some Militech crates while I hacked into the drones and turrets at the motel entrance. “Great, this diversion should come in handy... Now about the cargo, where is it?" Panam didn't answer me, but I heard a deep growl, the sound of someone out for revenge. Panam wasn't messing around, half-naked and fearless, she charged straight at the guard who had interrogated her earlier, delivering a left kick to his upper torso. Caught by surprise, he crashed into the wall. I could only watch, my pistol aimed at them. I followed Panam's footsteps onto the roof overlooking the motel's outer courtyard. "Okay Eleanor, that's the stuff, in the garage. A Militech prototype vehicle with armored defenses, automatic turrets and missile launchers. A high-tech jewel with a big payoff if you've got the right contacts." "Alright, what's your plan for stealing it?" "I won't be much help, I've got no clothes and no weapons, but I can use your hacks to sneak into the garage. Security-wise, you'll have one or two patrols and the big guy guarding the truck to take out." "On my first gunshot, you seize control of the Militech machines. Let's go." I went down to the courtyard. Not much activity, just a guard watching the horizon and the heavy guy standing next to the vehicle. I shot the first guy, giving Panam the green light to turn the robots against their masters. I ran for cover behind the armored crates. Meanwhile, the motel entrance was also buzzing with bullets. Obviously, the big guy had his own autonomous robot. There was no way to hack into it, so I opted to spray him with lead in the head. When the guard's heavy machine gun overheated, I used one of my brain implants to disable it entirely. This opening gave me a chance to retaliate, so I dashed towards the by-now unarmed man. It was time to strike the final blow. Once in range, I kicked his knee to fend him off before coldly executing him with a gunshot to the head. The motel fell somewhat quiet again. I heard footsteps on my left and aimed in that direction. The last Militech guard was there, knocked out by Panam the nomad with a single punch to his face. She spoke loudly: "What are you waiting for? Grab the keys off the dead guy and let's get the hell out of here, I'm driving!" Panam had set course for the small wilderness town of Rocky Ridge, northeast of Night City. On the way, she told me its unfortunate demise. "With the highway expansion underway, the locals hoped to bring some prosperity back to their place. When the project was suspended, it created the opposite effect, a mass exodus to Night City. Rocky Ridge became just another ghost town among the hundreds, if not thousands, in California. Anyway, this is where we'll warehouse the truck, to keep it safe until I get in touch with my client." Panam parked the armored truck in the derelict Rocky Ridge gas station. We assessed the situation outside, taking a quick overview of recent events. "We fucking did it! I don't think I'd have made it without your help, girl... Many thanks for saving my ass." "It was my pleasure, I couldn't let go those luscious breasts..." "Ahah look who's been staring at my body the whole time! Let's get a drink, I'm so thirsty." The nomad knew her way around and took me to the bar opposite the gas station. The place was also abandoned, but enough booze remained to keep it running for a while. "Take your pick Eleanor, plenty to choose from!" "I've got a favor to ask, since I just rescued you... Did they use your breasts to label the beer bottles? There's a true likeness..." "Very funny, you know what, I'm going to have one of those myself!" So, if I contact you one day, will you be able to help me, Panam?" "I owe you one, Eleanor. Of course I'll lend a hand, I know the area better than anyone!" "Great, I'll let you close the deal. I'm returning to Night City, until next time!" After this busy job, I managed to find my way back to Night City to spend some time with my sweetheart Judy, at her apartment. We sat on her couch and talked about the day's events. "Go into the desert, eliminate bad guys, recover an armored car, save a half-naked girl... Let's just say I had a great time today!" "Did you? Should I be worried about this chick?" "Nah, even if she was pretty hot, with breasts twice my size." "I'm sensing a bit of envy around here..." I gradually returned to myself after a while. I could smell the Night City morning dew, the cold ground under my bare feet and the metal handcuffs behind my back. Still a little miffed about our last encounter?" "Yeah, I should have agreed to take you out straight away, so I wouldn't have to face all these hassles." "Perhaps, but unfortunately you failed thanks to my two personal bodyguards. One spotted you entering my room while the other knocked you out. Now I must leave, any last wishes?" "Go to hell and I sincerely hope you meet your maker!" Susan Abernathy ordered one of her private security men to handle my case. He grabbed my body and walked me to the pool. I could still hear that bitch on the phone: “It's me. Send an AV to the Estate, I might be in jeopardy. And dispatch a cleaning crew here as well.” Just as I thought I might die from drowning and be dumped somewhere else, someone came to my rescue. Goro, I had forgotten about him. He must have realized something was wrong and decided to show up on his own. The bodyguard took a few bullets and threw me off luckily, on the ground. "Victoria, what happened? Where's Abernathy?" "Untie me and I'll bring an end to this mess! She's up on the roof, waiting for an AV, we can't let her get away now!" "I'll cut the chain off your handcuffs, it's the best I can do." "Just give me a gun and let's move!" "I'm out of ammo." Before heading inside the manor, Goro collapsed near a pillar. I hadn't noticed, but he received multiple wounds on his arms and abdomen. "Sorry, Vic... But I can't push it anymore... Go ahead. Take my knife. Deal with her." "I will. Don't you dare fall asleep now you hear!" "It's fine. I'll be waiting at the front gate." The door led into the manor hall, where the injured bodyguard awaited me with a sharp blade in his hand. "Bring it on you little pest, you won't get past me!" I dashed at him and blocked his attack. Despite being physically stronger, he was still wounded and I was far too quick. I landed an elbow straight on his face. "I've taken down tougher guys than you! You're the one who won't get over me!" I made him fall down to the ground. Even stripped of my clothes and barefoot, I could kick some serious ass. "Trash, all of you. Just fucking die!" I'd slit his throat before heading for the roof to stop Susan Abernathy from leaving. The AV landed on the roof. I refused to let it leave with Abernathy on board. I had to get rid of the last guard and make it fast before going for her. I used the deckchair to push myself into the air. Susan freaked out when she saw me, screaming at her bodyguard who shifted into a fighting stance, far too late. I fell on him, knife first, in his chest. Even a big guy like him couldn't stop me. That showed my willpower to end it all. "Keep the blade, pal!" Susan Abernathy had ran off to the opposite side of the roof in search of a gun. Unfortunately, I caught up with her and kicked her in the chest, throwing her off balance. I picked up the pistol and pointed it at my former boss. I even put my bare foot on her, to show that I had prevailed. "It's over Susan, no way out for you!" "Wait, Victoria! If you shoot me, Arasaka will be after you. You'll spend the rest of your life looking over your shoulder." "I'll take my chances." I executed Susan Abernathy with a single gunshot right through her skull. It didn't make me feel any better, it had to be done. For Arthur, for Goro and finally for me. I was the lady of justice and I had just rendered my verdict. Once the job completed, I followed the corpses left by Takemura to the main entrance. He was waiting for me, still injured. "She's dead, we got her!" "Good, but we need to hurry... We must leave Night City at once. Take your bike and get out of here, Victoria." "Thanks for the rescue Goro, I owe you big time!" I set course for the desert, back to Panam. Susan Abernathy made a good point: with Arasaka on my tail, I'd be dead before nightfall. And the nomad chick was the only person who could prevent that from happening. "Well, well, somebody had a lot of fun tonight! Meeting me in your underwear, you must have gone through some trouble, you don't even have any shoes!" "Hey hey, eyes off my feet, eyes on my face! Did you pick up my stuff at the motel?" "Yeah, it's in the trunk." I changed clothes at the back of the car. "So Eleanor, can you tell me what happened?" "You know, the usual: some Arasaka guys you take out, others grab you, you deal with them afterwards, and then you're off again, almost naked." "Oh, so it's just an ordinary night for someone like you!" "Okay, here's the plan: Take the car and head south, near the border. There's a dry river, follow it until you see the warning sign. In your backpack with your belongings, I've added the scrambler. Activate it and you'll have fifteen minutes to jump across the border undetected, while avoiding the machines on patrol. Once on the other side, you should be safe." "And I think that's all! I guess this is goodbye Eleanor." "Thanks for everything Panam, we're even now! And who knows, if I ever come back to Night City, maybe we'll have a night to remember!" "Anytime, girl! Good luck!" Before leaving, I had one last stop to make, not so far from the border either. I hit the gas towards Judy's cabin. I wanted to spend one final moment with her, to explain the mess I'd gotten myself into. I had to get away from her temporarily, to keep Judy safe. But once clear of Arasaka's radars, I'd come back and we'd start a new life together. Back from diving into the lake, Judy was lying on her stomach. I hugged her from behind. "Surprise! How's my darling hacker?" "El'! I'm better now that you're here! Did you succeed?" "Yeah... About that, we need to talk." We sat on her sofa, inside the cabin. I took Judy's leg and rubbed it, struggling to find my words. "Listen... I killed the bitch who left me to die a few months ago. But I've been spotted and Arasaka is likely to come after me..." "So you're afraid I might be targeted too if we keep seeing each other?" "Exactly... That's why I'm leaving Night City right after." "Oh... And do you think you'll ever come back?" We leaned closer, our foreheads against each other. "I promise to come back for you Judy. Whether it's in three months or three years. Once I'm sure that I'm safe, we can make our life together, wherever you want to go." She didn't answer. I took her silence as a positive commitment. I followed Judy by the hand to her bedroom. "Well, since we won't be able to do this for a while, let's have sex shall we?" "I'm in a hurry, but I'll gladly make an exception for you!" "You're so beautiful Judy... I'm really going to miss these moments with you." "Aw El', it's not the time to get emotional. Let me create a new memory for you to cherish until we meet again." I shut up and closed my eyes. The machines on patrol would rip me to shreds if they spotted me. Better safe than sorry, especially so close to the finish line. I was only a few steps away, climbing the rocks to the top. As I ascended, I remembered why I'd been here and what mark I'd left. Somehow, I succeeded. I glanced one last time at Night City on the horizon. In broad daylight and with the pollution haze, the metropolis looked far less attractive. The city had its share of adventures in which I excelled or had a lot of fun, but more than anything, I made some memorable contacts. Night City was simply a point of interest, not the final destination of my journey. "I'll be back." I took off and jumped over the fence. I didn't know what awaited me on the other side, but one thing was certain: I had just closed a chapter in my life, a former corpo turned rat with a grudge. And guess what, she pulled it off!
