The College teaches Illusion as the art of calming a crowd or scaring off a bandit. Hypnosis is the part of the school they stopped teaching.

Cast Murmur over a mug of ale and the innkeeper tells you what she promised to keep to herself. A Whisper lasts long enough for a steward who never liked you to spend the evening sharing the Jarl's worries. Keep your housecarl in a Trance for a day and she follows orders she would have laughed at yesterday. When the spell fades nobody feels robbed. They remember all of it and they are sure every choice was their own.

Imprint, the master spell, goes further. It opens a person like a book and lets you write them again: who they are, what they want, what they remember, how they feel about you. Close the book and a different person walks away wearing the same face. The old self waits in a small item in your pack for the day you want it back.

The spells:

  • Murmur (Novice). A trance that lasts one game hour.
  • Whisper (Apprentice). A trance that lasts several game hours. You set the duration in the MCM.
  • Trance (Adept). A trance that lasts one game day.
  • Enthrall (Expert). Hypnosis with no time limit. It holds until you lift it with Awakening.
  • Imprint (Master). Opens a paused window where you rewrite a named character once. You edit the ten blocks of their biography by hand or from a draft the model writes for you. You switch their memories on and off and add false ones. You set their opinion of you and their intimacy stance. You can change the race and gender the model is told it plays and make their conversation history start over. After that they are an ordinary NPC with a new personality. The old self is kept in an item called Personality Imprint.
  • Rewrite (Legendary). A permanent influence that lasts as long as the target lives.
  • Awakening (Apprentice). Ends a trance or an Enthrall. Cast it while you carry the Personality Imprint and the original personality returns with the memory of everything that happened in between.

Every spell except Awakening also comes as a staff that you make at the staff enchanter.

Draughts:

The mod adds two ingredients, Oneiric Moon Dust and Distilled Dream Resin. They are sold wherever common ingredients are.

  • Dream Draught. Cook one Oneiric Moon Dust at a cooking pot. It holds like Murmur.
  • Deep Dream Draught. Cook one Distilled Dream Resin at a cooking pot. It holds like Whisper.

You can also mix the two ingredients at an alchemy lab and get a poison with the same Dreams effect.
Plant a draught on a target with the Poisoned perk. It takes effect the next time you stand close to the target while you can see each other and nobody is fighting. The MCM sets how close you have to be.

Requirements:

SKSE64, Address Library, PapyrusUtil SE 4.3+, SkyUI and MCM Helper, SkyrimNet Beta 25 or newer, and PrismaUI for the rewrite window.
Optional: SeverActions (follower opinion and intimacy stance, through the included patch) - Compatible with versions from 3.9.14 to 4.2.0

OStimNet (the stance is reassessed after a scene). No optional mod is a master of any plugin
Built and tested on Skyrim 1.6.1170. Versions 1.5.97 and VR are untested
Implemented English and Russian localization

Installation:

Install with a mod manager. The archive is a FOMOD and all plugins are light.
The SeverActions patch must sit above SeverActions in SkyrimNet's plugin order, and the mod warns you when the order is wrong.
The rewrite edits SkyrimNet's data, which lives outside the save file. For that reason the mod compares the two after every load and asks what to do when you load a save made before a rewrite. Before uninstalling, press "Restore everything" in the MCM.

Settings:

Spoiler

Settings live in two places. The MCM holds the gameplay values such as Whisper's duration and the Illusion experience per cast. Everything about the model is on the mod's page in the SkyrimNet dashboard (Settings > Plugins > Hypnosis). There you choose the model for drafts and assessments, set how often the stance is reassessed, pick the languages and replace the wording of any hypnotic state with your own text. By default the mod's requests go to SkyrimNet's background model variants. Drafts and assessments send the character's biography and recent events to your model provider, like any other SkyrimNet request.

About the [ROUTE] marker:

Spoiler

Hypnosis can print one extra line at the top of the hypnosis block in a character's profile. The default text is [HYPN_ROUTE_MARKER] and you can change it. The option is off by default and sits on the same settings page under Routing. It is meant for people who run a proxy between SkyrimNet and their model provider. The proxy finds the line in the prompt and sends that request to a different model. The mod prints the line and the routing is up to your proxy.

Here is how I use it. I run a local reverse proxy that spreads requests across my API keys. When it sees the marker it sends the request to Grok or GLM. I picked them for hypnotized characters because they skip the moralizing and follow instructions more closely. Requests without the marker go to my usual model. Keep the option off if you have no such proxy, because the model reads that line too.

Planned:

  1. More localizations.
  2. Two new spells. Amnesia (Adept) lets you switch off the memories you choose. Confabula (Apprentice) gives the target a false memory that they take for their own.
  3. More ways to earn the master spells through roleplay. Right now they only turn up with a small chance in the world or at vendors.
  4. Polish and fixes for every bug that gets found.
  5. More AI assistance, starting with an agent that edits which memories are switched on and off.
  6. The ambitious one. A quest line at the College of Winterhold that teaches the art of controlling minds. I have no experience with mods of that scale, so if you want to help or have ideas, write to me.

Report any bugs or rough edges you find in the thread and I will do my best to fix them.

What's New in Version 1.0.1

Released

FIRST DAY PATCH

Hypnosis 1.0.1

Just install it over 1.0.0. Your saves and rewritten characters stay as they are.

What's fixed:

  • The MCM menu is finally there. In 1.0.0 it never showed up, my mistake. You can now set how long Whisper lasts and use the "Restore everything" button.
  • A rewritten character now forms their attitude to you from what actually happened between you. Before this update the mod was losing that part.
  • SeverActions 4.x works and the warning at startup is gone. Any version from 3.9.14 to 4.2.0 is fine.
  • You can make the draughts now. Their recipes are at the cooking pot. In 1.0.0 there was no way to brew them.
