Slim played for money.
It wasn't the first time he'd gone busking. When things were a little tight, or he needed beer money, he'd set up in the park and play. It wasn't a bad way to make a little when the landscaping crew wasn't calling.
The money Eric had fronted him had been enough to pay off Dupuis for the month, but there was always next month to consider. Besides, no matter how many time Eric said Slim could pay him back whenever, Slim hated being in debt. Also, there was Mama LeBlanc's temper to consider.
So, he played through the best popular songs he knew. The crowd gathered around. A few of them tossed coins and even a few bills his way. Yeah, it wasn't a bad way to make a little.
Star had come along, which was nice.
She'd even hung back a little while he set up, like he'd asked. When he'd started playing, she'd tossed the couple of bills he'd given her into his guitar case. It always helped for the crowd to see someone go first.
He'd made sure to tell her about Frankie, first thing. They hadn't met yet though. Frankie hadn't been up, even when they left for the park around lunchtime. Star had been chill about her, though. She agreed, it was cool for Slim let Frankie stay, at least for a few nights.
Star was good people.
---------------------------------------
"Excuse me," a bald man said to Star. She'd been so into listening to Slim play, she hadn't really noticed the bald man come up to her. He was older, dressed in a kind of artsy way that still looked like he had money.
"Yes," Star smiled at him.
"I believe we know some of the same people. Like Malcolm," the bald man smiled. "You remember Malcolm, don't you? He told me he was very impressed with your... talents. I thought maybe we could go behind the pavilion and..."
"What?" Star rocked back, shocked. "No."
"I would certainly make it worth your time," the man smiled.
"No," Star repeated firmly.
---------------------------------------
"You sure you're OK," Slim asked later, when she told him about it.
He'd played all afternoon and well into the evening, moving a couple of times when the cops rousted him. He hadn't made a lot, but if he had a few more days like this, maybe a week, he'd be able to pay Eric back.
"I'm fine, honestly," Star smiled. "He just caught me off guard. I didn't think anyone else would know about... that night."
"Dirk the Jerk, gone but still fucking things up," Slim muttered darkly. Gesturing at the food stand, he added, "Let me get you something."
"Slim, we barely made enough as it is," Star laughed. "I'm fine, really. Besides, it's getting late. Let's just go home."
---------------------------------------
"Hi, you must be Frankie," Star said brightly.
They'd gotten back to the squat to find Frankie standing in the living room, studying the hookah with puzzled interest.
"I'm Star," Star continued.
"I... I know," Frankie said, looking oddly embarrassed. "I... um... well, when Slim was showing me where my room was last night, he pointed out yours and... you don't have a door and..."
"Oh!" Star gave her a sultry smile. "You saw me... sleeping." Since Star slept in the nude, Slim knew perfectly well what Frankie had seen. "That's OK. I don't mind."
"So, Frankie, I wasn't sure you'd still be here," Slim said as they all sat down on the couch. He also hadn't been sure if his stuff would still be here. Of course, Dirk had already run off with everything he could sell, except the guitar Slim had taken with him, so he hadn't really been that worried about it.
"Yeah, I slept through the whole day actually. I do that a lot," Frankie said. "That's OK, right? Me still being here?"
"I'm glad you're still here," Star said with a warm smile. "I wouldn't have gotten to meet you otherwise. You can stay as long as you like. Can't she, Slim?"
"Of course," Slim said. "Absolutely. As long as you like."
"That's... that's really nice of you both," Frankie said.
"Like I said, the place is here for people who need a place," Slim smiled.
"Besides, if you stay we can get to know each other," Star said.
"I'd... I'd like that," Frankie said shyly. "I'd like that a lot."
Slim forced himself to smile even as he felt his stomach tighten a little. The sparks flying between Star and Frankie were obvious. He couldn't decide if he was jealous or turned on. Maybe both? Probably both.
"Well, I'm going to call it an early night," Slim said, standing. "It's been a busy day. I'll see you two in the morning."
"Yeah, I need to go freshen up," Star said, hopping to her feet after him. "So... um... I guess I'll say good night too."
"Oh... well, goodnight," Frankie said. "I'm kind of a night owl, so I'll be up for a while if that's OK."
"That's fine," Slim said. "You do you. I'd say just keep the music down, but the last guy who stayed here stole my stereo so..."
"What a jerk," Frankie said. "Well, I'll try to keep my wild, late-night partying down."
---------------------------------------
"Oh, Frankie, hi," Star said.
Coming back from the bathroom, she'd been trying to decide whether she was really going to bed or maybe going back to the living room. She was a little surprised to find Frankie waiting for her in the hall. A little surprised, and a little not surprised.
"I... I wanted to ask you a question, before you went to bed," Frankie said shyly. "Is that OK?"
"Yeah, that's OK. I guess that was your question," Star replied, trying to sound light but just managing to sound a little breathless. In the narrow hallway, she was very aware of how close Frankie was.
"Well, I do have another question," Frankie chuckled.
"OK," Star said, feeling even more breathless as the other woman moved even closer.
"Do you think I'm pretty?" Frankie said softly.
"Yes," Star breathed, "Oh, yes... Do you..."
"You smell so good," Frankie whispered. "So good... I want... I want to kiss you. I've wanted to kiss you since I first saw you tonight."
"OK." Star shivered.
Frankie leaned in. Her soft lips brushed Star's lightly. Teasing. Star moaned. Her lips parted, soft and yielding. Frankie's fingers slid along her arms, making Star shiver.
Frankie made to pull away. Star followed, unwilling to break the kiss. Her arms wrapped around Frankie. The other woman groaned into her mouth. Their lips parted. Tongues danced against each other. Their hands moved, caressed.
Star stumbled backward, blindly. She pulled Frankie into her room. Kissing. Touching.
Frankie's hands moved up Star's back. Star's hands slid down her back. Squeezing her ass.
"Too many clothes," Frankie panted breathlessly, breaking the kiss for the first time. Her smooth, cool hands moved quickly, pulling Star's top over her head. As Star giggled, Frankie pushed her skirt down to fall around her ankles.
"Better?" Star panted, naked. Not to be outdone, she fumbled with the zipper of Frankie's skirt, felt it give, let the black fabric drop away.
"Oh yes," Frankie sighed. Her fingers moved between Star's thighs, teasing between the folds of her pussy.
"Right there. Just like this," Star moaned, her own fingers moving to touch Frankie in turn. Sliding easily into her.
"Oh my God," Frankie moaned.
Frankie's fingers moved inside her, opening her. Her free hand brushed Star's tits. Star gasped as the touch sent sparks flying from her sensitive nipple directly to her pussy.
"Mmmm," Star moaned wordlessly.
"So good," Frankie sighed. "So warm. So wet."
Star whimpered, quivering under other woman's touch. Yielding to her completely.
"You smell... you smell so good," Frankie groaned. "I love the way you smell."
Frankie's fingers worked frantically inside her now. Bringing Star to the edge and holding her there. Teasing her. Star shook with the pleasure of it.
"Oooooh yes," Star moaned.
"Smell so good," Frankie panted. "Like sunlight and flowers and... oh God... I want you."
"Yes," Star sighed.
"I want..." Frankie moaned. "Star... I... I want to..."
"Yes," Star cried.
"No," Frankie groaned.
Suddenly, shockingly, she pulled away.
"What... no... don't stop," Star panted, reaching for her. Pulling her back.
"No!" Frankie shouted, pushing Star away. "I... I can't! I..."
Without another word, Frankie turned and fled from the room.
"What... What's wrong?" Star cried after her. "Frankie?"
