Cassandra wants her dad back
Cassandra had been doing really badly in school. She had always loved chemistry and biology and was a top. Mortimer was overwhelmed with work and close to burnout. Cassandra had always been a daddy's girl and wanted his attention. Her dad was coming home late and lately he had a few bad cases on his desk that had broken him mentally. Cassandra thought that her dad would notice if she told him that she was doing poorly in school. Her homeroom teacher met Linda in the store and asked if she could tutor Cassandra. Linda found it strange because she knew that she used to get straight A's and Mortimer was proud of her. Nevertheless, she and Cassandra talked and they discussed the subject they were studying. When they were finished, Mortimer came to Cassandra, they sat together in the small family cemetery next to their house and Cassandra told him that she had decided to study Mortuary Science. Mortimer never wanted to force her to join the family business, he inherited it from his father and knew the pressure that children of funeral directors experience. "Dad, I want to be with you more. I know you have a lot going on, but who else can teach me these things better than you?" Mortimer sighed: "I thought you wouldn't want to do it, that it traumatized you..." "Not at all, Dad. Who else should help you?"
"You are truly The Goth to the core." Mortimer was really proud that night.
