    Welcome back, at least you nipped the problem in the bud, before it turned into something really damaging.

    I'm in favour of the apparent state path, I think that'd be the more immersive one, and that's where I get the most enjoyment from the game.

    Do you have animations that support BBP? I don't know if it's changed, but in Oblivion, you need the Skeleton, Mesh and Animations to get Body Physics working.
