vonwraith Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Hello LL community! I've tried installing many mods and continue to have issues with crashing, possible mod conflicts, etc. I use NMM, FNIS, SkyUI, LOOT, Wyre, Tes5Edit, Bodyslide. I want to get as stable a game as possible. I intend to reinstall and start from a completely *Clean* Skyrim Legendary! I will be following the http://www.loverslab.com/topic/43043-skyrim-modding-guide/ to install as cleanly as I can. ** What I am looking for is a mod list Suggestion that is known to be pretty stable ** (obv. if installed correctly) I'd like to have UUNP, SexLab, Devious Devices, an ENB would be nice, and something that uses DD. The following is my current mod list that I cannot for the life of me figure out WTF i'm doing wrong to stop it from crashing. (not looking for help Troubleshooting, just posting for reference) Some SOS is Sounds of Skyrim, not Shlongs. Lodakai Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 You should consider switching to MO if you plan to be able to make your mods as compatible as possible. Opt for loose files wherever you can over BSA packages. As a baseline, you should keep USLEEP in your list. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71214/? You will need XPMSE skeleton and bodyslide to go alongside your uunp. Racemenu should be included in your baseline as well. Crash fixes is a staple now for modding and I would highly recommend including it along with the SKSE preloader. Remember to enable osallocators in the config files. http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/2551-crash-fixes/ Start off light
Uncle64 Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 And make sure that you install your mods in correct order. You cant simply throw them in. It will not work.
dankmemesxd Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Using M0 he can throw them as he wants to . Having PC like this, you should handle it. I always start with this guide (mods are listed in the description). Now your graphics are ready. (you can choose whatever ENB you want) I would recommend watching some videos about MO before starting. And then you stack your SL mods, you begin with SL ,then SLAL,SLAL packs and whatever you want to. It always works for me. Hope I helped a little.
vonwraith Posted May 31, 2017 Author Posted May 31, 2017 I should definitely make the switch to MO? I should NOT use BSA if possible? If I D/L using NMM can MO access those files? I thought that I had seen someone mention that you should NOT have Steam / Skrim in /Programs Files(x86) directory. Is this true? If so how unstable does it make the mods or game?
Lodakai Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I should definitely make the switch to MO? I should NOT use BSA if possible? If I D/L using NMM can MO access those files? I thought that I had seen someone mention that you should NOT have Steam / Skrim in /Programs Files(x86) directory. Is this true? If so how unstable does it make the mods or game? I would strongly recommend making the switch. MO has a bit of a learning curve, but it gives you a lot more control over what assets you want to use in your game. This goes a long way to making mods compatible and troubleshooting problems. If a mod offers loose files, it makes it easier to manipulate the assets to use only the ones you desire.. such as skeletons body types etc. Since mod organizer keeps every mod in its own folder, you do not need to worry about stray assets. If you use MO.. you should not use NMM to download mods. You can set it up for the links on nexus to use MO instead of NMM, so there really is no need to use NMM if you decide to use MO. Yes it is preferable to keep steam and skyrim in a directory outside of program files. Program files overprotects file manipulation and can cause issues when trying to read/write/delete files in there using automated programs. This should not cause any instability to your game.
Guest Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 This is the mod I'm currently most thankful for. Continue Game No Crash. If you get crashes on trying to load a save after launching skyrim, that mod changes that load to circumvent something by entering a normal load screen. Has been a saviour for me. Before I kept having to load old saves before loading the newest one. Previously I thought my saves were always getting messed up, but it seems it just couldn't handle trying to load all the things at the same time. Boring recommendation if you don't struggle with save loading ctd's though.

Otherwise you do not need to go through the doubleload process this mod offers. The footIK error usually occurs if you have a large number of animations. (if you install crash fixes, it will alert you when you run into this problem)
Guest Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Snip You only need this if you get the FootIK error. Otherwise you do not need to go through the doubleload process this mod offers. The footIK error usually occurs if you have a large number of animations. (if you install crash fixes, it will alert you when you run into this problem) Yee I'm sure there's some in-depth look I could've done to figure out wtf made it always crash. But as I never got errors and couldn't see anything in the papyrus logs it was like a miracle fix. Best ignore the mention if the problem isn't occurring anyway. Other than that I have no recommendations though as mods are a bit personal taste related. Can agree on MO being great though! Edit: Though some may find stuff ending up in the overwrite folder a bit confusing to begin with.
Nazzzgul666 Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Stable game vs recommendations: the point is, there are a lot of good mods, usually stable for themselves, many work very nice together, BUT: you can't use all of them at once. in my experience it's less important which mods you use (there are exceptions, though), than how much. And the limit depends on some settings as well as on your hardware, other software like AV stuff running in the background,... and finally, even if you play without mods it's no guarantee it doesn't crash. So, instead of a modlist, i will give you some more general recommendations: 1. Read the descriptions of mods carefully, especially the stuff about conflicts/known problems. Each, including the requirements you're installing for them. That takes some time, but in most cases if there is a conflict, it's mentioned (on LL, Nexus mods often aren't aware or don't care about LL mods, or they just say "conflict: all LL mods" which is just bullshit). There are too many mods to know all of them for a single person i think, nobody else will do that work for you. Also look at the upload time, if it's too old it's possible that it doesn't work anymore, but not necessarily. 2. Keep a save before installing mods you're not sure if you want to use them. If you don't like it, uninstall and load that save. Save game cleaners do a good job in.. 90%, i guess. Which means, after installing and uninstalling 10 mods it's quite likely that some scripts are still in your save, even after cleaning, and that they will cause problems. And it's totally possible that it happens for each of those 10 mods, just less likely. Alternativly, start a new game. Questmods on Nexus often expect that you have a high level character and learned a lot of stuff, but LL mods often expect a low level character which hasn't done much vanilla quests yet. There are exceptions, but at least that's my general impression. If you want to play several questmods on LL, it's totally fine to chose some few, play them, then start a new game with some few others. It usually won't go wrong if you are lvl 321 and already learned all shouts, but sometimes you'll miss some content. And imho it makes much more sense if my lvl2 toon is defeated and enslaved than for an overpowered dragonborn back from Sovngarde. That's more personal taste, but when you know you'll just play those few quests before you start a new game anyways, it's also a good way to test some other mods and it isn't too bad if it becomes a bit unstable during playing. 3. Watch for script heavy mods. Although i said earlier it depends on the number of mods, it is possible to get a quite unstable game with only 5-6 mods. It doesn't mean they are bad, often they are awesome and -each for itself- totally stable. But you can't run them all at once. It actually depends on how many scripts you have running at once. I didn't do a scientific analysis which mod runs how many scripts how often. And partly it depends on your settings. It can make a big difference if for example Creature Framework runs a cloak spell every 3 seconds or none at all. I'd suggest, install some mods you want, see if they have some settings how often/if they run scripts, see if you really need it (that often). Check your papyrus logs, if something throws a lot of errors that might be bad, but in my experience it's worse if a mod runs a lot of scripts or one very often although everything is fine. If you are sure you want that mod, keep in mind that this will reduce your options for other mods. Papyrus is no final thing, some mods don't log anything (by default), but run a lot of scripts anyways. But it gives you some clue about most. "Stack" is what you should look for (and some stuff before), because it means it couldn't execute that script in the given time and will try again. "Dumping stack" means, there are so many scripts running that some won't be executed at all, which can cause pretty much anything from "I don't see a difference" to "I don't see anything anymore and my keyboard doesn't work anymore, but according to the noises half skyrim is fucking and the other half fighting." Those usually happen when several mods run some scripts quite often plus a certain event for another mod is triggered and runs a lot of scripts once. At this point you should definitly use less.
KoolHndLuke Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 This is my most stable game so far. After about 20hrs I only had one crash. Every time I try to add any random spawns to exterior worldspace- that is when I start having problems. Also I play offline as it seems to help. Also keep in mind the 65000 string limit that causes corrupt saves. For that I use crash fixes. Loot will only help with your load order and you will need to move some esps manually. 0 0 Skyrim.esm 1 1 Update.esm2 2 Dawnguard.esm3 3 HearthFires.esm4 4 Dragonborn.esm5 5 Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch.esp6 6 Skyrim Project Optimization -
