Modding Civ 6's Paintings

As the title suggests, I would like to replace the default paintings in Civilization 6, but I cannot find the file or files that contain the vanilla visual great works. There is no .artdef folder that is specifically labelled (i.e. greatworks.artdef or paintings.artdef) nor is there a file with all the paintings in .dds format (not that I was expecting that, I didn't expect to find uncompressed assets - just hoping).

If any one knows where these files are located, it'd be appreciated.

While I'm at it, I cannot find the localization for artist names either (the .xml file that turns the GREAT_PERSON_INDIVIDUAL_INSERT_PERSON_NAME into "Insert Person" when playing the game) - searching the game files came up with nothing which is concerning.

It is extremely easy to mod things like game rules, civilization abilities, game concepts, and so forth. Everything is coded in XML and should be in a folder under Civ VI called something like Base/Assets/Gameplay/Data, or under DLC if you're trying to mod any extra content. Anything you want to change should be straightforward to figure out, but save a copy of the original files just in case (you can also remove the game and re-download it if you go too far).

Modding image and animation files is a little more complicated, so I'd refer you to any of the widely-available modding guides for that.

I hope that helps.

Thank you for the help. I had another look and found why I wasn't finding it. It isn't located in the main game files but is in the Civ 6 SDK Assets folder in Steam's Common folder (if anyone else was interested.

This is a bump as I have hit another roadblock. I have replaced the images and names of the artists, but I still have not found the .artdef responsible for paintings. I know that something is needed because on testing, the mod does nothing in game. I presume that one of the missing files I need is an .artdef, but I am also confused as to why the artist names also remain vanilla. When I compiled it, I made sure that the mod loads the mod's text .XML files - but it does nothing.

I would really appreciate any help on this, as I am really new to all of this. If needed, I would be happy to upload the mod in its current form.
