However, after the first try, it just stopped working. Are there any up-to-date matchmaker mods? Or any other way to initiate scenes? Thanks!

There's several versions of SL TOOLS. As far as I know, the original does not come with a matchmaking option. Some of them are apparently quite buggy too. Make sure you're using the one named "Patched SE SL TOOLS Updated".
