what determines the next animation when clicking "next"?

When clicking the "next" button for animations, what determines the next one? Is there a way to force it to go in a specific order like from A to Z or by category type? It seems they all follow whats chronologically in order and then after completing a sequence of animations it either restarts to the first one in that sequence or goes to another random animation. I tried messing around in the settings and can't figure it out.

This is just a guess, but I would assume it first picks the next animation in the series (if there is any) and if not, goes to an animation from the category depending on your preferred sex progression. I did some testing related to this but everything seemed to be too random unless animation authors didn't specifically name a next animation for the progression.
