Hey I'm Currently developing a Top Down shooter/RPG, with a healthy does of immersion sim thrown in there.  Current titled the Untiled space game because i lack creative naming.

While a little early to really be showing something I didn't want to continue to develop in isolation I would to get some feedback and ideas from the community.

The general premise of the game is your late relative has died and you are saddled with a run down space ship and debt ... a whole lot of debt, something your likely going to want to pay off, Here is where the game will differentiate i want to offer multiple different avenues for you as the player to earn your needed credits.

 

Initially I will be focusing on the idea of completing bounty hunts as the initial profession. But this is something I would like to expanded upon. The idea is to develop with a failing forwards mentality meaning that just becuase you lost the fight/Interation/quest doesnt mean game over reload from last save. It means perhaps the player is captured and emprisoned and now you must escape, or perhaps a good sumaritan stablized you and dragged you to a local hospital.

 

This applying to quests as well maybe your first attempt didnt go well and you got your self captured, this isnt quest failed, perhaps you could escape or win over the your capture to your side.

 

I've been developing the game under the principles of having a few differante Core pillars.

 

I'd hoped to attach some short videos to showcase things but it appears i can only atttach images so they will have to do.  And will preface that alot of stuff is place holder art and will be changed or added to. As i have been focusing on building out the core systems to make implementing future conent quicker and easier.

 

- Exploration

Travel between different Hub locations each with there own unique style and laws.  Random events while traveling think along the lines of the map movement in mount and blade

Communicate and complete a variety of different tasks for the locals for information, credits and/or equipment.

So this is obviously alot multiple, locations, quests, gear. As such I plan to develop it all over time as state before focusing on bounty hunts initally as this profession hits nearly all aspects of what i want to develop.

 

The plan for the initial prototype release before the end of the year will be :

  • A Bounty hunt on the planet falca within a Megabuilding.
  • A few small social interactions for gear and information.
  • A Combat floor fighting a through gang territory, with a goal of reaching the leader for capture on the bounty. (Multiple routes)

 

Then over time i would like to release a monthly update but currently I do have other commitments. But current future planned features include

 

  • Char customization - core systems in - Needs Ui and assets
  • Gear variety - core systems in - Needs assets
  • Location additions
  • Social Events
  • Travel Events
  • Expansion to the capture mechanics.
  • Expanded Professions (General merc work, Trade and smuggling, ETC)
  • Combat cover system
  • Extended Movement options

 

If you managed to get this far  i thank you for reading and hope you are intrested. And i encourage you to post your ideas for quests locations and what ever else you can think of i cant promise i can add it all as im a pretty shit animator but ill give it a good go.

Nice game concept, it's very similair to a game called Ostranauts with stuff like like travelling from planet to planet, relations mechanic that has (Albeit it shitty and confusing at times) ability to socialise with other characters, pretty much everything here but with alot more of micromanagment. 

Will there be male PC to play as? Or will we have to play female only?

Also you should post the idea on other sites too, like F95, they're more responsive when it comes to developing games

Thanks glad you like the idea, I havent heared of Ostranauts before i'll have a look at it. And yeah when i get around to implmenting the UI for character creation ill add in a male option to. Most of my underlying systems are designed and implemented as agnostic as possible to allow for easy additions later such as Male PC, most of it is all Tag Driven. The big one will be adding in the content (Clothes nd quest/world interaction). And I'll post else where once i have a playable demo.
