Damaged Skyrim [SOLVED]

Recommended Posts

> Some newly installed/uninstalled mods via NMM community edition and often changing things in 5 master mods in TES5Edit damaged Skyrim. Well, the game is still playable but it is not editable in TES5Edit because some things do not exist anymore. The mods were reinstalled but they stayed uneditable. Is there are way to make it work again, or does Skyrim need to be reinstalled? Thank you for your answer.

It's hard to know without more details, but:

If the problem was caused by editing master mods then it is likely that simply deleting the 5 master mods (and any mods dependent on them) then reloading the master mods (with any mods dependent on them( should fix the problem.

Oh, and this advice ONLY works if you start a new game. Any save you have is likely to have the changes baked in (and therefore leave you in the same situation in which you now find yourself).

Of course, if one of the masters we're discussing is Skyrim then, yeah, wipe out everything and start from scratch.

> Thank you Mr. Psalam. Say, how can master files like Update, Dragonborn, Dawnguard, and similar be reinstalled when they were integrated into Skyrim and downloaded and installed from Steam? My Prince says that Skyrim.esm is damaged and uneditable.

Giga pro tip: don't edit official game files. That's what additional ESP and ESM files are for.

Verifying game files in Steam will download a clean copy of any altered files from the base game. How much of your modded stuff is lost in the process depends on how much was done directly to the official game files or how your mod manager manages files (being honest, I don't have high hopes for NMM and that kind of modding practices).
