Skyrim SE, STEP, and SoS

I am not new to modding or modding skyrim but very out of practice. I had a great build setup on my old laptop that has burned out and i cant replicate. So for a change of pace i decided since I'm going with SE instead of Old Oldrim (Wasn't even running LE before), I would do a STEP install. Followed it to the letter.

 

It's gorgeous. Best looking Skyrim I have ever played. No conflicts.

 

Then depravity kicks in and a need to add CBBE, SOS, and Sexlab stuff.

 

I install CBBE and swap my body textures for the same ones added by STEP, but the CBBE version (Tempered Skins for Females). Run FNIS. Still stable.

 

Then I move on to SoS. I install SoS. not replacing any skeletons. I believe I have the right one already from installing XPMSE, as its needed for just about everything already.

I install Tempered Skins for Males, SoS version. I run FNIS.

 

But now when I start the game i get a flash of a small black window, and then full CTD.

 

As soon as I disable SoS and swap my skin textures back to the Regular version of Tempered Skins the CTD goes away instantly.

The issue seems to happen no matter where I rearrange XPMSE and/or SoS in my load order.

 

I have tried reinstalling each element in question in various orders and arrangements. No luck. CTD before I even get to the game menu.

 

Please help in any way you can and thank you in advance for any suggestions. Been beating myself over the head for a week now.

If anyone would like any skse or net crash reports I can get those too, but honestly that is all gibberish to me so that is the one element of this I havent experimented with yet.

SOS comes with a dll file, so if you're using a version incompatible with your installed SKSE you'll get a CTD. So check that (the info about the version compatibility is in the description of the SOS for SE).

That SOS version should do for SKSE 2.0.17/2.019. Are you sure you're using the SE one and not the VR? (both are available as files to download from that page). I can't think of other reasons to get a replicable CTD before reaching the main menu. The order in which you load XPMSSE/SOS shouldn't matter here (for loadorder LOOT should do, for the left panel in MO2/Vortex priority you can guarantee XPMSSE skeletons will be used instead of the SOS ones by placing XPMSSE below SOS in MO's left pane, or giving it a higher priority in Vortex), but a conflict of skeletons shouldn't crash your game at that point. Isn't there any warning or notification in MO2?

edit: I will note that I use SKSE64 2.0.17, so I'm not sure about 2.0.19 (can't use it in my game. Skyrim won't load if I do)
