Taomon 2019 for Star Wars: Jedi Academy (18+)


This is a port of a custom Taomon model by warfaremachine, originally for Source Film Maker. She comes with her magic brush that makes explosions and a clawed weapon.
Figuring out how the brush should work in JKA took some time. Putting in whatever I learned about making efx files, I made an effect that at least resembles the explosion it makes. I guess I nailed it.
About the claw... the claws were taken and reworked from an edited port of a Digimon Story Taomon model by GuilTronPrime. Taomon never used this in the show and video games, but she was depicted using a clawed weapon in her portrait in an old card game Digimon Jintrix. I thought it would make a nice addition, so I also included it, complete with its own sounds and effects.
This has customization, NPCs, bot support, sounds, and team skins.

 

While cheats are enabled, type "npc spawn (name)", replacing (name) with any of the npc names listed below. You can also play as the NPC by typing "playermodel (name)"

Here are the names of the NPCs:

  • tao        -    spawns default Taomon with brush
  • tao2        -    spawns Taomon with dual clawed weapons
  • taoclassic    -    spawns a large Taomon with classic head and robes
  • taoclassicnsfw    -    spawns a large nude Taomon with classic head
  • taored        -    spawns red team Taomon, on the enemy's side
  • taonsfw        -    spawns nude Taomon
  • tao_r        -    spawns a harmless Taomon with 50,000 health
  • taoclassic_r    -    spawns a bigger harmless Taomon with classic head and 50,000 health

 

Type "saber taomon" to use Taomon's magic brush, or "saber taoclaw taoclaw" for her clawed weapons

 

Included in the pk3 files:

  • zzzTao2019.pk3            - Contains the model, textures, botfiles, custom weapons, sounds, and everything needed for the mod to work.
  • zzzTao2019npcs.pk3        - Optional. Contains the custom NPCs. Only useable with cheats.
  • zzzTao2019ReplaceAlora.pk3    - Optional. Replaces Alora with Taomon.
  • zzzTao2019ReplaceChewie.pk3    - Optional. Replaces Chewie with Taomon.
  • zzzTao2019ReplaceKyle.pk3    - Optional. Replaces Kyle with Taomon.
  • zzzTao2019ReplaceRosh.pk3    - Optional. Replaces Rosh with Taomon.
  • zzzTao2019ReplaceTavion.pk3    - Optional. Replaces Tavion with Taomon.
  • zzzTao2019ReplaceNPCs.pk3    - Optional. Replaces Cultist_Drain, RebornForceUser, and RebornMaster with Taomons.

Also included are alternate files that make NPC replacements use either the default skin or nude skin.

 

You can edit the NPC and sab files to your liking with 7zip and a text editor. Changing behavior and appearance of the NPCs and what weapons/powers they use, altering behavior of the custom weapons, making NPCs replace other NPCs.. things like that. Those files are found in the "ext_data/" folder in the pk3s.

-HOW TO INSTALL-
 Extract the zip file, then put the pk3 file(s) you need into your base folder: "Star Wars Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy/Gamedata/base"
 Make sure you also run this in OpenJK to prevent crashes. OpenJK is an overhaul that raises the limits of Jedi Academy's engine and makes it possible to support higher-poly models. https://github.com/JACoders/OpenJK

 

-BUGS-
The levels vjun3 and kor2 may not load if you have too many NPC replacement mods.

Nah, not at the moment. I do plan on editing the .gla anims someday to see if we can get some progress, particularly replacements for the humanoid's, rancor's, and wampa's grab moves, and the humanoid's reactions to those grabs. There is a mod that lets you cover people in white liquid though.

That would be too much work for me right now, but I did make sure that the Renamon and Taomon generic enemy NPC replacements work well together though.
Did you figure out how to edit NPCs? I'm busy porting another model right now, but I could try making what you need if I have the time. Let me know or go to the JKhub forums if you need help editing NPC files.
I guess for now, try adding some z's in the beginning of the names of the Worgen's NPC replacement pk3's so that they go after zzzRena2019ReplaceNPCs.pk3 and zzzTaomon2019ReplaceNPCs.pk3 alphabetically, so that those 2 pk3s won't override the NPCs that the Worgens replace

I know it's been almost a month, but here it is. This replaces most generic NPCs with Worgens (Male and Female), Renamons, and Taomons. I also included an alternate file that includes Krystal replacements.
I noticed that some NPCs wouldn't spawn when using old NPC replacements files, so I made extra replacements for those NPCs that aren't spawning so that they'll still appear. Again, if you want to make some edits for yourself, just use 7-zip and edit the files with a text editor.

Oh yeah, it probably has something to do with there being too many NPC replacements. It might also be the weapon. I tried making the Kyle and Chewie replacements use a lower-poly weapon with fewer sounds to prevent the crashing, but since it still happens, I might have to ditch NPC replacements completely. I'm planning on including vanilla model replacements instead, like I did with the Twi'lek mod I just posted. Now those worked perfectly... However, that would mean that the NPCs will not use custom stats, just a different character model and voice. I hope that's fine.

 

If that's not the case, then I might need more info on what mods you're using, if you're interested in sharing...
