A simple punishment mod

Recommended Posts

How hard would it be to make a mod that will have a follower punish the PC based off of a float score that does a check against the follower? It would be through some kind of a float score that contributes to angering your follower.

The following are just some ideas.

The quest would start out where the PC gets in trouble for something they didn't do,  and the Jarl will be lenient, assuming the PC agrees to be released "on probation" into the custody of an "approved chaperone" (Any follower) who can send you back to prison. It wouldn't matter what it is, just something that gives the follower authority over the PC.

A possible score might be based off acquiring Dragon Souls. The more the PC gets, the more it makes the follower think the PC is starting to act like a jerk with all that newfound power.  The follower thinks the PC needs to be taken down a notch by lovingly applying some behavior modification therapy to the PC's behind.

You know all the things that NPCs do and say that irritates you to no end? Rude guards, rude NPCs, rude children...that all leave the PC unable to say anything back? Well, this mod would give you even more reason to hate them. Because your follower blames you!

So the dialogue could say something like...."I'm still embarrassed from when we walked through Whiterun and you ignored that woman, and just walked right on by when she asked if you were doing your good deed for the day." And "You pushed past that kid because he said he was going to prank you! So what!?....He's just a kid!" and "Delphine was trying to help you, why do you have to be rude to her?" and "You were rude to that guard who wanted to help you find your sweet roll.

Etc Etc...

EDIT: The follower's referenced events aren't intended to contribute to the float score. They are just be comments the follower would bring up at the time. The score is determined by...in this case, the number dragon souls acquired since last the event.

Yes, it does do that. And in fact was the basis for the idea. The problem I have with this mod is DD. I tried it. I like the mod. However, without fail. I am reminded very quickly why I don't use DD. Even beyond my dislike for the way DD functions. Meaning, I feel like it is designed to restrain me, more than my character. Also, I get very tired of the zoning crashes. Forget Riverwood or anything in Solstiem outside of Raven Rock. Skyrim becomes a CTD simulator.

Welcome to the club ;)

The reason I use Submissive Lola in the original (or my own version).
I have no idea why you always have to buy a cow when you want to drink a glass of milk.

I have a decent understanding of CK and have had some limited success with tweaking scripts. Though I don't know papyrus. I would attempt to create the mod above or possibly tweak Sub Lola to not need DD and remove that content. Although, I say that knowing that more than likely, I'd just break the mod.

I had started, but canceled again because the mod is WIP and patches keep appearing.
As of a week ago: There aren't even a handful of DD assets that are actually being used.
No trace of the scripts (or I didn't see it).
So you can replace the assets with nifs that you like (in the ESP). If all (i.e. 100%) dependencies on DD or DDi have been removed in this way:
Open CK, find Submissive xxxLola.esp and in the right window you will see the parent files. For example DDi. Click on the parent file and press CTRL-DEL. Then Lola.esp activated, load it in the CK and save.
IMPORTANT: All dependencies must really be removed / restored beforehand.

Thanks, I'll keep my eye on it. I just don't understand why everything needs such a hard dependancy on DD. I've seen mod authors even admit they didn't want to build it in, but had to. Meh, Idunno. My thought is. Zaz can restrain my PC and that's fine, but if I want to unequip from my inv. I should be able to do that. DD won't let you. For the life of me, I can't see the need for that. I can understand checks for quest advancement or what not, but to force them? I'll pass.

And that's only the minor issue. Forget that DD has a 100% chance to break (my) Skyrim game at some point. And that becomes the hard stop.

There seem to be more issues with your LO then DD o.o

Can't confirm any of that related to DDs and I even have NPC in DDs running around everywhere.

I try to install my mods in order of how the system would read them. Such as system mods 1st. UI mods second, Meshes and textures, Quest content and then anything that needs to be loaded in last, like skeletons.

I use loot and then I go back and minimize file conflicts.

Other than that, do you have a general guideline or maybe even specifics for DD?

Most important is a stable modding environment (if you use an ENB that's no news for you I guess):

If that's archived a stable Sexlab related setup is needed before adding anything else to the LO:

This two blog pages made my game stable enough to create a mess like this:

Builds like this will be tested for hours. I don't declare any Setup for stable before it didn't survive the first 20 hours of game play. Nearly good is 40 hours. 100 hours is a good sign that the LO works lol

Important is that the Sexlab base mods and Frameworks and requirements are installed right and don't cause any instabilities on themselves.

This in turn makes troubleshooting much easier, because you know that your basics are rock solid and any issues ingame have to come from added mods/patches.

For example crashing near Riverwood can have lots of reasons and they just happen mostly near Riverwood, because this is the first town with NPCs that will be loaded in a new game.

So any bugged mesh/texture replacer, NPC overhaul, city overhaul, water/environment overhaul, fauna/flora overhaul, children replacer, forgotten patches, wrong patches will crash you there.

If your game has no stability fixes (memory allocation) it will run out of memory there or a bit later on the way down to Whiterun.

If you didn't start your game in LAL (or comparable alternative starts) and you survived the vanilla Helgen start, chances are that mods didn't load right and you crash on the way to Riverwood.

Bugged player homes added near Riverwood will crash you there too.

DDi needs at least one save/load cycle at the start of the game to update itself, like many other mods too. Means if you start a new game, but never even save/reload once, chances are high that you only make it near Riverwood before crashing.

Riverwood also has nothing DD specific unless you installed Corsec patches to add some NPC in DDs there ^^

The area around Helgen has a lot of Bandit camps, any traveling NPC that wanders around there will cause fights. Depending on how many bandit replacers and mods that add even more bandits to bandit camps you have a lot of fights right away.

If you have mods that add a lot of traveling NPC => they spawn very early ingame in high numbers, so its best to save reload the early game after LAL after waiting one hour to let them all spawn and move away a little (on my setup there will be massive spawns from Immersive wenches, SDcages, enemy plus, SIC, follwoer mods....).

I followed the 2 guides you listed. The 1st attempt was to the "T".  But that actually caused more CTDs than before. So I removed the extra mods the lists suggested that I hadn't been using before and just used the guides to establish the LO based on the mods I was already using and that did it. It's much more stable now.

I think the big thing was that I wasn't using ENB. I'd used it in the past and didn't feel it was worth it. I didn't have memory or stability issues and I never felt that the trade offs were worth using it for. But wrapping Skyrim in a 64bit executable makes sense to me now that you mention it. And yep. Works good. Sure I get a bit more stuttering in places, but not crashing all the time. Is much better.
