Skimpify the Sims 4 Project - HELP PLEASE

I have a very simple idea.

I want to do for the Sims 4 what Killer Keos did for Skyrim.

For those unfamiliar he basically cropped parts of the clothing making it skimpy and sexy.

I have very little experience in making sims cc (I can do tatoos and recolors).

Since they complicated the sims 4 studio with the extra stuff (shadow map, specular map), most tutorials I've seen don't work in 2018.

I want to crop clothing items for adult sims without having to mess with meshes (if it's possible).

I can manage in s4s and in photoshop.

Please point me in the right direction.

this dress is set for simSkin not simGlass, if you want to enable transparency you have to change it to simglass in the warehouse

Enable Transparency for a Package's Mesh

Spoiler

If you enable transparency for a package where the body and clothes are combined in a single mesh, you might have some invisible body parts. You can work around this by moving the item to an accessory CAS slot.  You will know there is only 1 mesh if you only have 4 geometry files in the warehouse tab

-- open up a package in S4S and go to the warehouse tab

-- select a "geometry" item from the list on the left.

-- When selecting geometry, be sure to select the clothing item -if- you have two sets of meshes (8 geometry total)

-- On the Right hand side- select the Data tab. Scroll down to shader and select "Simglass"

-- The diffuse textures of your swatches are now enabled for transparency.

-- You will need to repeat the previous steps for the other 3 geometry items on the warehouse list

-- Remember to save when you are finished. Make sure you have a backup copy available if this is your first try!

-- One thing remains to fix - this item will have a natural shine that you might find undesirable. To remove the shine that comes with simglass, import a flat normal map in the Studio tab. (I have included a flat normal map here for your use [it should work for all items])

A flat normal map should have 50% opacity 50% brightness 0% saturation.

Right click > save as

Add a Normal Map to a Package

  Hide contents

normal map textures are typically used to add the appearance of edges and bumps to a smooth mesh surface

-- select the Studio tab next to the warehouse tab

-- underneath the color swatches, select the texture tab.

-- There will be a list of texture types (diffuse, shadow, normal, specular, emission). Highlight "normal" from this list.

-- Click "import" and select your file using windows explorer.

-- You're finished! Don't forget to save your file.

The quickest way is to use another piece of CC as a template. Use something that is already set to simGlass. You will have to cut the skirt in half and paste it to a new location. you will probably have to shorten the texture a little. Use the existing texture as a guide. Just a reminder, you will be using someone else's mesh to do things this way.

This is something I did a while ago. This JomSims' Mesida dress

You could just manually re-dress all of the Sims into something more revealing via CAS mode, something not possible in Skyrim without the use of additional mods.

That way, the regular clothing isn't overridden and only the characters who you want to be exposed will be exposed. Skimpiness is a relative value that is lost when everyone's clothing is scant.

Thanks a lot @crabb

That was the kind of information I was looking for. You're a lifesaver.

@FauxFurry Yes, I know but I don't see anything wrong having options to make items even MORE sexy / skimpy or straight up porn wear. And I like the clothing that Maxis did, so I just want to shave a bit off them. Anyway I won't bother doing ALL the clothes (like swimsuits and those who are already sexy enough), but there's a severe lack of dresses / tops with lots of cleavage. Or leg showing long dresses. That kind of thing. There are few, but far too few.

@calmy   glad to help! Just a heads up, I believe almost all clothing included in the game has the body/clothing together in the same mesh. You could have pieces of skin missing if you switch them over to simglass. I've only done this with CC like I've shown above so I don't really know what happens.  The Mesida dress I used has two meshes. One body mesh that is simSkin, and another mesh for the skirt. It has a simGlass texture. Good luck
