PROJECT HELIX - TIMELINE [Spoilers]
Kuroyami posted a blog entry in PROJECT HELIX - LUPINE & SELACHII DIVISIONS
"The aim of the project is a simple goal, but was meant to have a complex outcome. This would indeed come to pass, but the results would be far from what was expected. This was not unwelcomed, but still fraught with various trials that made nearly every one question the, ethics of the project. To uplift the species around us, that had been with us for centuries - but not for nothing. Not out of kindness for our intellect, being able to do it at all. A perhaps futile attempt to break the resource shortages, even if the end result was to be far more boots on the ground, to borrow from my recently learned military jargon, in order to ensure more of what was needed. In the end, well, I am unsure if it mattered at all - even if in the process, I was able to save, and change lives. For the better? I cannot truthfully say that in every case. Not even for...myself, or..." >???? - "You have no idea what I am." >2040, Fall - Completing a 2 year renovation, Haven Hospital opens. Located northeast of Boston proper, it establishes itself as a facility heavily catering to what some papers called "alternative medicine", but these were part of slanderous campaigns, paid for by some of the other hospitals in Boston proper. Apparently, attempting to tackle problems faced by humanity since it's inception, one of these being mental health of varying kinds, drew some ire by those all to willing to let people with these sorts of problems fall by the wayside, all because these issues are extremely complicated, or more appropriately, "not profitable". >2047, December - The Black family, Bethany and Darren, welcome their first child, Victoria. Minutes later, Seth is born, as Bethany was due to have two children. >2048 - The Black family invests money into the Nuka Cola Corporation, becoming one of the backers for Nuka World, an amusement park themed around the popular soft drink. >2055, Spring - Bethany takes Victoria to Haven hospital for the first time, meeting with Dr. Lisa Monroe. >2055, Summer - Victoria visits Nuka World for the first time. She does so with her parents, and gets the chance to meet with Bradburton himself. >2066 - Ringing in the New Year, General Marius Jaeger officiates a ceremony that consecrates a new US Navy ship, and unveils it's name, the Titan. To be the flagship of a fleet scheduled for completion within ten years, it was to see upgrades yearly until that time. A few of his fellows protest his claim to the ship, but their outbursts are summarily ignored. The name later draws some controversy for it's departure from the usual naming scheme of Naval Ships, considering either historical figures, States, etc. >2066, Early Spring - Scientists in various fields are tapped for work by the European Commonwealth - dubbed Project Helix(as the aim of the project was the alteration of DNA), it eventually saw some of the best from various countries, though some saw the choice of Project director as unusual - Ryuji Mikoto, a well established scientist from Japan, whose credentials included the best in animal biology, various degrees in Physics(Nuclear included), and genetics, to name a few. >2066, Summer - Marius visits Iceland, supposedly for diplomatic reasons. Those close to him understand that he was making his own agreements, and not exactly representing the US Government. Some had only theories, but one was prevalent - he might've been making the entire country a refuge for himself, as well as perhaps others known to be close to him. If he was excluding the existing countries population, was unknown, though such a thing would be unlike him. >2066, Fall - Three known divisions of the project are established - Vulpine, Lupine, and Selachii. Plans would be drafted for others, but the only remaining records suggest a fourth, the [REDACTED] division. >2066, Halloween - Club Inferno opens in Downtown Boston. It is hailed as a den of debauchery and decadence, and in spite of some protests before it's grand opening, it's profits total in the millions within weeks. It's prized star, known to be a drug addict and as sexually adventurous, brings in patrons like no other. >2066, Winter - The Liberation of Anchorage begins. >2067 - Victoria Black enlists into the US Navy, becoming the first of her family to serve in armed forces since WWII. >2067, Fall - The Vulpine division sees it first success, with five formerly feral foxes administered a serum five months prior, and about mid-September, their physiology has heavily changed(under heavy sedation/anesthetics), with one taking it's first steps on only two legs a week later. >2068 - The Selachii Division runs it's first test - [Documents of this test were burned, and video evidence destroyed, following the Project's acquisition] >2072 - The Selachii Division can no longer be supported by the European Commonwealth, as it has not produced any viable successes. Other divisions, most notably the Vulpine Division, have noted a number of successes. However, a sum is paid to the EC, and contracts are signed to hand the entirety of Project HELIX to the United States. >The reorganized project would work under a number of new mandates, which were not negotiable: -In association with West-Tek, the Project Divisions would be given access to all research data on, and samples of, the Forced Evolutionary Virus, and MUST include it in their work. -Absolutely NO animal testing - baring offshoot research, all new test subjects would be of human stock ONLY. >2072, May - The Walfisch, a cargo ship bought and refitted in Germany under US tax dollars, is loaded with the specimens, research data and anything else related to the Project. Vulpine specimens are muzzled, and transported to the Walfisch under cover of darkness. >2072, Mid June - Vulpines are given all appropriate information and paperwork to be considered US Citizens, and unfortunately, all but a few are drafted into the US Military. Most of these are sent to remote boot camps to evaluate their combat abilities. Those not drafted are sent to work as part of the staff of the Vulpine Division's facility in [REDACTED]. >September 5th, 2072 - Plans are drafted for a Vulpine facility located in [REDACTED], Nevada. Major Davis Lawson was specifically picked to manage the to be completed facility, projected to be complete within a year. >October 15th, 2073 - The Selachii Division of the Helix project settles in at the newly built CAETUS Facility, located [REDACTED]. >October 30th, 2073 - General [REDACTED] is removed as Project Manager, and it is General Marius Jaeger that takes over the Project lead. Marius seeks to give the Project far more time than his predecessor - as much time as is needed, as well as funding. >2075 - A new strain of the S-FEV is created, and as winter ends, the Division has a volunteer - Evelyn King. Wounded in the middle of the Anchorage campaign, facing constant pain from deep electrical burns, she chooses to volunteer for the project after being invited to the Caetus facility, and being consulted by Mikoto. She later becomes the Division's first success. >2075, Early Spring - With a spotless and exemplary record, Sargent Dave Walters becomes involved with the Selachii division, becoming yet another of said Division's successes. He would go on to use his appearance to intimidate captured soldiers, who nearly always looked upon him with fear - and due to his understanding of various languages, he understood exactly what they called him, usually equaling terms such as "Monster", "Demon", etc. >2075, Spring - His increase in rank having been earned after losing an arm to the Anchorage Campaign, Lieutenant Cody Diaz returned to the States, continuing a relationship with someone that he mostly kept from the public eye, and who had not been seen at any of Military-related functions. Only a week later, he received a message from Washington, informing him of the Helix project - and an offer to volunteer for the Selachii division of the project. >Mid-Summer - [REDACTED] >2076 - Volunteering for the project, though she had no debilitating injuries, Major Katherine [REDACTED] undergoes testing in May. Only a day later she is in recovery, the procedure considered a 100% success, matching Evelyn and Cody's results. >Set to undergo a month of testing, this is cut short by a week when she receives mission orders on June 6th that, even to the Caetus facility staff, were classified. >Reports received twelve hours ahead of the Major's return to the Caetus facility on August 1st, that she had been wounded in action - injuries including the near complete loss of her right arm. As of a week later, observations of the Major conclude that her capacity for healing is far below that of other subjects, meaning that she may, or may not regenerate her missing arm. >2076, October - Without the approval of the Lupine Division Director, a drug is developed for the Lupines that sought to control their blood-lust. When the Division Director did look into the specifics, he found that it additionally made the Lupine more docile, and effectively weaker - after a conversation with Marius, any remaining samples and research on the drug were destroyed, with none making it's way to illicit channels. >2076, Halloween - [REDACTED] >2076 - July 4th - [REDACTED] >2076, November - Before a crowd of at least 20,000 people and 500 present members of the press, alongside being televised, General Marius Jaeger takes the stage after a few others, and announces his bid for the Presidency. His platform would be one of not Family, Religion, or the usual suspects, but simply, people. Saying that he would use his allotted four years to govern as cannot be so easily tossed aside, for the people. "I will not sit above you, I will sit beside you. I have seen many in politics believe themselves the Captain of a ship, and cannot fathom, such a position affords them clemency if their ship sinks. As per the suggestion, if the ship sinks, may you go down with it, and if not, you prove true something that cannot be denied - you were unfit, no matter how many years of experience, or votes....I'm sorry, for many the latter is entwined with money. Should I win, it will not be a matter of buying votes, but the hearts of the people who will not suffer by my words, written or spoken. But should you, may it be in direct result of your actions, in confluence with the law. Past this night, or in the coming ones, we shall enter into a new era. One in which the spirit of this country, by and for the people, SHALL NOT TRULY PERISH FROM THIS EARTH!" >2076, December - While the incident is not made public, a US Navy sailor, Victoria Black, faces a dishonorable discharge, the charge being brought against her by General [REDACTED]. A settlement was reached in a Naval court, the final results being that she would not face substantial jail time, or see the inside of a cell at all. Instead, she is stripped of her rank and status as a Sailor, and soon leaves for her family's estate, west of Boston proper. >January 7th, 2077 - Vault 107(Max Capacity: 500) finishes construction, and 200 people have assigned spots, including a number of families - all from various parts of New York City. The cost of entry is lower than expected, allowing some low income families to enter, but the Vault is built to luxurious standards, befitting a much higher price per person. Some families enter the vault immediately, others over the coming months. >January 28th, 2077 - LIBERATION OF ANCHORAGE -- SUCCESS - FULL CLEAN UP -- DEFCON STATUS - LOWER -- LEVEL 3 >January 30th, 2077 - Danielle Weiss arrives in Court for Divorce proceedings, and by noon, she is legally separated from her husband, General [REDACTED]. >February 14th, 2077 - On a routine visit to her doctor, Danielle finds out not only that she has a minor illness, and that she is also just shy of two months into pregnancy, though she was not completely unaware of this fact. Her doctor expresses some confusion, and suggests DNA tests. She declines, openly stating that the child's father is not her former husband, but doesn't elaborate. >April 2077 - [REDACTED] >September 1st, 2077 - Samples of the S-FEV meant for storage in DC enter into Downtown Boston proper aboard a non-descript truck. It is late at night, and the driver chooses to stop at a local diner for a meal, and in this time, the truck is raided by a local gang. The driver and the one working waitress were both found dead hours later, and the truck no-where to be found. >October 1st, 2077 - The Star of Club Inferno is hospitalized due to a minor overdose, to the surprise of few. >October 1st, 2077, Early Morning - The USS Poseidon leaves a US Navy dock in [REDACTED]. >October 13th, 2077 - Two samples of the S-FEV go missing from the Selachii Division's Auxiliary facility somewhere on the coast of Boston, and one of the marines who was offered a place in the project, and had been approved, went missing. She was never seen by Military staff again, after her departure. The theft was reported, but an order came down from the leader of Project Helix, ordering that theft would, and should not be investigated. >October 15th, 2077 - An early entrant into the Vault 81 program, Danielle arrives early in the morning, and close to noon, she delivers a healthy baby girl. Considering projections, Danielle's illness, though still being treated, is not transmissible, and thus her daughter should not see any ill-effects from it. The Vault's doctors politely inquire as to the child's father, and she does not explain, but requests some time alone, if possible. >October 18th, 2077 - Early Votes are tallied, and projections come back with a result that infuriates few, and has many rejoice - the 2077 US Presidential election favors [REDACTED] to win. >October 21st, 2077 - "You have one chance to survive, addict. One. You know where it goes, and I know why. The money, fame, power, and the sexual conquests that go along with them - no matter the specifics. You are running, you are trying to forget. But all of it pales. All of it fades. For the work, for the show, they push it down. They bring you back. For their star. But I have the last. Your final, and true moment. The pre-show, tomorrow. A prelude to this Halloween's show, a celebration of ten years of fire and brimstone. But perhaps the world is going to change, and neither you, nor the world will live to experience it. You may not survive the chemicals this time. They loose their star, you fall. If you have any wish to survive, look to what I offer. The deal I have for you, like the other concoctions, is on the table. Goodnight, addict." >October 22nd, 10:AM - Five US Navy ships leave a Naval base on Long Island, after a scene of bloodshed over breakfast. Those murdered are, to some within the base, known Enclave members, who intended on using those ships for themselves - even if they already had an owner with much higher ties to the Enclave. These ships would depart the US coast, and be known only as a Ghost fleet, as far as the left behind records would suggest. The only concrete detail among these records, is that the USS Titan was at the head of this fleet. >October 22nd, 10:00PM - A well known and connected businessman is found murdered in Downtown Boston. News reports suggest that his body was shredded apart in what seems to have been an animal attack, but the usual suspect for such a thing, would be almost impossible, given the scene's distance from the coast. Unusually, it seems that days prior, the man's various businesses, financial accounts and held properties, were put up for a sale, and purchased by an unknown party. In spite of some suggesting the murder was performed by human hands, no one could be considered as a suspect. >October 23rd, 2077, 5:00AM -- CAETUS Facility Log -- Received warnings from various defense systems. Require confirmation to alter schedules. Received hypothetical situation data from [REDACTED], information deemed inaccurate. >October 23rd, 2077, 9:00 AM -- A military plane with the call-sign GH05T takes off after a refueling stop at Boston Airport, and is bound for a carrier off of [REDACTED]. The reason for it's flight is unknown. >October 23rd, 2077, 9:42 AM -- CAETUS Facility Log -- REPORTED: 2 NUCLEAR DETONATIONS -- Local news stations report confirm detonations in New York and Pennsylvania -- FACILITY STATUS: HIGH ALERT -- LOCAL EVENT POSSIBLE "What the hell? Is this right? Fuck, what the...you know what the protocol is, and what this...GOD DAMMIT." >October 23rd, 2077, 9:42 AM - Vault 107 admits no new persons, but it's door seals moments before the news hits of a Nuclear denotations in New York. Reached Capacity: 450, Staff included. >October 23rd, 2077, 9.47 AM -- CAETUS Facility Log -- LOCAL NUCLEAR EVENT REGISTERED --- FACILITY LOCKDOWN --- OFF SITE CONNECTIONS TERMINATED >October 23rd, 2077, 9.47 AM - The King falls to the light. >October 23rd 2077, 9:50 AM - The Queen falls to the knife, and the crown sits upon the head of the successor, who must not be late. >October 23rd, 2077, 10:00 AM -- GH05T arrives in the airspace of [REDACTED], but cannot raise the carrier on the radio. >October 23rd, 2077, 4:50PM -- [REDACTED] >October 23rd, 2077, 5:00PM -- CAETUS Facility Log -- Incident GI-0W Recorded, Residential Reactor 3 meltdown and subsequent explosion, Residential shielding activated with 99% success. >November 15th, 2077 - [VULPINE FACILITY - UNKNOWN EVENT] >November 23rd, 2077 - "You know it could be a mistake, right? We have no idea what it does. Well, it might be better than what awaits us out there - this is our choice. I'll do it, if you want to. If it goes wrong, I'll...end it for both of us, if I can. If it goes right, then...of course. Together." >May 11, 2078 - [REDACTED] >July 4th, 2090 - [REDACTED] >??? - "No matter where it all started, maybe it should start again. Maybe our families just go that far back, if true at all. Sometimes history repeating itself is not good, but I think this will be." >2282, Summer - "It is indeed wondrous to hear. A person of actual fucking intelligence as the mind behind that crater. I shall hope for good things to come out of this, Courier." >2286 - A large gang of raiders take the main area of Nuka-World, an amusement park that has fallen into disrepair, with many of it's parks being unsuitable for habitation - due to various dangers, such as hostile robots in the Galactic Zone. The raiders take the Nuka Town USA area of the park, and all but enslave the traders who had already made the location a trading hub, and now they work under scrutiny of the raiders - with deadly consequences, as they are all fitted with explosive collars. >April, 2287 - Within the three groups of Raiders holding Nuka World, one from each faction disagrees with the approach taken by Colter and the other bosses, to the point that they leave Nuka World, taking a number of "grunt" raiders with them, deciding to occupy the otherwise "empty" town of Bradberton. To obtain supplies, they occasionally send groups out to towns and settlements far North of Nuka World, rather than focusing purely on the Commonwealth. >September, 2287 - Three individuals approach Nuka World, and after small fight begins with a few of the Disciples, one of the newcomers gets a strong hold on Nisha, one that meant a small movement could break her neck. She suggests that, if allowed safe passage in the park, she would let the sadistic bitch live - alongside give the raiders a good amount of valuables from her nearby family home. Colter, the leader of these raiders, agrees to this. Some voiced concern, as they easily recognized the fact that he wilted to her demand the instant he noted her accent. >October 1st, 2287 - "I'm not dealing with your habits, DeLuca. Nor am I going to report you - I just want you to leave me out of it. What? Oh, you don't know. That picture is of my family - though a generation or two back. Huh? Well...maybe I'll tell you the whole story some other time, I...have to finish something for the Overseer." >October 20th, 2287 - Hiroka, a Scientist and Doctor living outside Diamond City, receives a visit from Juno, who came from a settlement that was known to have been hit by Raiders. He wanted information about what happened to him, possibly to find the source of it. While she could only tell him about it, as much as she knew, she directed him to Alice, an information broker whose name was uttered rarely in the Commonwealth, but if someone needed information... >October 23rd, 2287 - Of the few Vaults in the Commonwealth, 111 has been known for it's existence, but long believed to be a "sleeping" or defunct Vault. However, this day marks when at least one of it's dwellers emerges from it's depths, being seen later in the Greater Commonwealth area, at least for a time, wearing a suit with their Vault's numbers. (Fallout 4's events begin - this point possibly being taken as canon, when considering the mod, only if one does not use a mod like the recommended Start Me Up when playing a Selachii, or if not playing a Selachii at all, but still wanting to have the mod's story content in-game) -
ELEVENTH ERA “Age of Fire” / “Litswitch Era” The invention of cheap-to-produce, practical, Litswitch-based canons marks the beginning of a new era as they quickly revolutionize warfare. - 2nd Century ← this is the current time-period as shown on the map > Seish Wars of Expansion resume in southwestern Kareneih (no article available yet) - 1st Century > Sixth Maidenfell Invasion of Ustmaar ends badly after only a few months, but does not lead to any territorial changes (no article available yet) > Fifth Maidenfell Invasion of Ustmaar lasts only three years and is a resounding success, leading to an increase in territory and the freeing of many female slaves descended from women enslaved during previous conflicts (no article available yet) > Satoon reemerges as a major power in Nortrud through the use of shrewd diplomacy and clever use of Litswitch technology in war (no article available yet) > Litswitch-based explosive technology spreads rapidly, first through Eiyamith and Ahmastir, then to Andanoore, Kareneih and Aurenia (no article available yet) TENTH ERA “Age of Man” / “Early Modern Era” Since the beginning of the Transitional Era, most Human dominated societies have been feudalistic kingdoms with strong patriarchal structures, but around this time, they begin to diverge immensely on ideological grounds, and some adopt radical new systems of government. It is actually towards the end of this era that Maidenfell first forms when female prisoners and slaves seize eastern Ustmaar from their Maar overlords. The period is also remembered for being the start of humanity’s attempts to settle and conquer Western Andanoore, in which they prove largely successful in most areas. During the last century of the era, the Seish also begin an invasion of the southern extremities of Kareneih. Except for some technological advancements, the period is otherwise mostly a continuation of the Eighth and Ninth Eras, though population growth has halted significantly since said periods. Litswitch Crystallization and Ignition are first discovered towards the end of the era, and they quickly revolutionize many areas of society, with Litswitch Crystals soon begin being used to light up streets and homes at night. Litswitch Ignition also leads to the development of the first Litswitch-based canons, though they remain too crude and expensive to be of much practical use in war. - 9th Century > Cheap-to-produce, practical, Litswitch-based canons are finally invented in Hyrelm after forty years of continuous active development. The country becomes the first in the world to deploy the technology in war (no article available yet) > Fourth Maidenfell Invasion of Ustmaar begins and quickly ends in catastrophe. In the aftermath, the countries of Ustmaar revitalize their struggling slave economies with fighters captured during the war (no article available yet) > Two sudden freak discoveries lead to safer and much more practical Litswitch-based explosives, but the technology remains too cost-prohibitive for use in large-scale warfare > The First Seish Invasion of Kareneih occurs and quickly results in the formation of Aratesh (no article available yet) > A hugely expensive, secret initiative begins in Hyrelm to develop Litswitch-based canons that can be cheap and practical enough for large-scale warfare (no article available yet) > Third Maidenfell Invasion of Ustmaar occurs. This three year long conflict sees the first use of Litswitch-based canons in a war, but they are cost-prohibitive and only used in small numbers (no article available yet) > A new religion known as the "Cult of the Sister" that is lead by a descendant of an enslaved Lishaari monarch from many centuries prior quickly spreads through southern Nortrud (no article available yet) > The first Litswitch-based canon is invented in Hyrelm, but it is too expensive and crude to be of any practical use in large-scale warfare (no article available yet) - 8th Century > Second Maidenfell Invasion of Ustmaar begins and leads to a twenty year long protracted conflict with no clear winner (no article available yet) > Litswitch-based explosives used in mining and resource extraction for the first time (no article available yet) > First instance of Litswitch Ignition being used to make crude explosives (no article available yet) > First Maidenfell Invasion of Ustmaar leads to an eight year long war that ends in a stalemate but symbolic victory for the women of Maidenfell (no article available yet) > Litswitch Ignition is discovered for the first time (no article available yet) > First Ustmaar Invasion of Maidenfell begins and quickly leads to a significant pushback and further losses of territory to Maidenfell. News of the war spreads far and wide and leads to an immense level of immigration by women from across the world into Maidenfell that soon balloons its population (no article available yet) > Maidens' Rebellion happens in what used to be eastern Ustmaar, culminating in the Formation of Maidenfell (no article available yet) > Litswitch Crystallization is accidentally discovered in Hirmsfale and the technology quickly spreads throughout Eiyamith (no article available yet) - 7th Century > Satoon is reduced to a regional power (no article available yet) > Third Alliance War between Satoon and Senrell (no article available yet) - 6th Century > Satoon-Senrell Cold War begins (no article available yet) - 5th Century > Satoon becomes the preeminent military power of Nortrud (no article available yet) - 4th Century > Second Alliance War between Satoon and Senrell (no article available yet) > First Alliance War between Satoon and Senrell (no article available yet) - 3rd Century - 2nd Century > Ahmastir is settled by Humans, Nur and Maar in a series of settler waves (no article available yet) - 1st Century > Human Conquest of Western Andanoore begins (no article available yet) NINTH ERA “Age of Strife” / “Late Classical Era” To most countries and societies, this era is simply a continuation of the previous era, but for many Human and Nur dominated societies, this represents a tipping point. In many such societies, religious and ethnic tensions finally boil over and lead to some of the most devastating conflicts in world history, as well as widespread genocides. This is also widely believed to be the time period during which the Lishaari transitioned from a mostly matriarchal and egalitarian society to the patriarchal and in many ways quite misogynistic society it is in the current era. Towards the end of this time period, Human dominated societies once more become quite tolerant of other races and differences of faith, but some hints of tension still remain. - 3rd Century - 2nd Century > The last Lishaari records about pre-upheaval Lishaari society are allegedly destroyed (no article available yet) > The last female monarch in Nortud is sold into slavery and taken to a foreign land (no article available yet) - 1st Century > Alenrud and Nortrud quickly transition into patriarchal societies after experiencing a sudden and very rapid upheaval of their existing customs, religious beliefs, and social norms (no article available yet) EIGHTH ERA “Age of Riches” / “Middle Classical Era” Many parts of the world experience a sudden and unusual abundance of food and their populations begin to soar to previously unseen levels. It is an unprecedented period of technological advancement and increased cultural sophistication that quickly causes many countries to surpass even the most advanced and sophisticated empires of the Fourth Era. More advanced technology also leads to huge advancements in mining capacity, which in turn leads to easier access and cheaper prices for many raw materials. Most societies see a return to higher levels of socioeconomic stratification during this time, and in many places, there also occurs a high level of religious consolidation, as well as ethnic segmentation, leading to escalating religious and ethnic tensions, especially within Human and Nur dominated societies with large minorities of other races. - 4th Century - 3rd Century > An unknown cult begins in eastern Nortrud and slowly starts building underground followings in many countries across the region (no article available yet) - 2nd Century - 1st Century SEVENTH ERA “Age of Guidance” / “Early Classical Era” Literacy revitalization efforts eventually prove successful in a number of countries, and this encourages missionaries, envoys and merchants to travel out into the wider world. As they aid neighboring economies to get back on their feet, it leads to a very sudden and rapid return of literacy, widespread commerce, and social cohesion in most countries. Subsequently, the world experiences a massive economic upswing, and with much of the previous social order gone, an unprecedented level of social mobility. With unusually low levels of racial dogmas and tensions existing around this time, many societies also become less averse to the idea of combining with other states that may have a culture or ethnicity distinct from their own, and this quickly leads to the formation of many multi-ethnic and multicultural political entities. Within only 480 years of the start of the period, the entire world has already returned to a relatively normal state of affairs, but now with a much more diverse religious, cultural and ethnic landscape than the world of the past. It is very early in this era that the Curse of Atonia befalls the Yoerann populations of the far west and some of the beastfolk races subsequently begin to migrate back to the Eastern Continents. - 5th Century > More Atonian beastfolk migrate back to the Eastern Continents (no article available yet) - 4th Century > More Atonian beastfolk migrate back to the Eastern Continents (no article available yet) - 3rd Century > More Atonian beastfolk migrate back to the Eastern Continents (no article available yet) - 2nd Century > Some Atonian beastfolk races migrate en masse back to the Eastern Continents (no article available yet) > Curse of Atonia befalls the Far West (no article available yet) - 1st Century SIXTH ERA “Age of Mysteries” / “Transitional Era” An almost complete lack of record-keeping in most parts of the world leaves little credible information about this period, but orally passed-down stories speak of illiterate societies with wide-spread social deterioration where people often shun authority and disrespect those around them. Plenty of information about the ancient world is permanently lost as the period goes on, but many societies are saved from total oblivion by the existence of libraries and other record-keeping institutions that survive largely unscathed throughout the period. Something very noteworthy that also happens during this time period is that many old religions suddenly fall out of fashion in favor of a much more diverse religious landscape that persists into the world that comes after. - spans an unknown length of time but commonly said to last around two to three centuries FIFTH ERA “Age of Upheaval” / “Terminal Antiquity Era” A multitude of factors – including horrific, wide-spread plagues and massive empires contending in perpetual, near-suicidal struggles for power and dominion – lead to a relatively quick and almost universal decline in living standards, literacy rates, and the stability of political institutions. As the period goes on, record-keeping and historiography slowly fade into obscurity in all but a handful of places, but records are extensive enough to leave future generations with some idea of what was happening at the time. Things eventually deteriorate to such an extent that even time-keeping becomes inaccurate in many societies, and this is what marks the end of the period. Populations are incredibly high at the beginning of the era, but take a nosedive as societies around the world forget how to farm enough food to sustain their high populations. By the end, some countries will have lost as much as 95% of their populations. - 3rd Century - 2nd Century - 1st Century FOURTH ERA “Age of Conquest” / “Upper Antiquity Era” The emergence of large empires and new political systems marks the beginning of a new era. Wars of expansion and attempts at consolidation bring more and more countries and peoples into contact with each other. While some stay mostly peaceful, others begin to regularly fight for control of resources and territory, eventually leading to massive refugee waves. It is during this time period that Humans first begin to settle and conquer eastern Andanoore and Idia, and they quickly displace many of the races that lived there before their arrival. Urban populations continue to grow exponentially throughout the period and skyrocket towards the tail-end, reaching levels that will not be surpassed until the late Eighth Era.
