How the hell do I mod my Skyrim SE? Series 3
Ma Ri posted a blog entry in The Mods I Use in Skyrim LE/SE/AE Series by MaRi
From Ugly to Beauty Skyrim Episode Three - CME Presets for Skyrim SE, how to use them? For this Series I will show you guys... - How to use CME Presets in Skyrim SE? - What is the easiest way to use ECE? - How to easily export nif Files when using ECE? - Why would I use ECE instead of RaceMenu? - Why I needed to install RaceMenu as well but it does not needed to be check on the Mod List? From the last Episode, I believe that we installed NIO Replacer folder that contains both NetImmerseOverride .pex and .psc and also the skee.dll and skee.ini in it's SKSE folder. But you may wonder why?, Why do we need this folder and why we did install this folder in this way? Why do we need this folder? NIO Replacer contains nioverride.pex and nioverride.psc which are needed to some mods that needed NetImmerse Override plugins. They are not actually plugins but they somehow be able to make these mods to work in the game. You also have a choice not to really install these files that is if you are not using any mods that requires NIO. As we all know there is no NetImmerse Override in Skyrim SE and if we ever use the NIO of Skyrim LE even if you ported it, the outcome will be an error, unrecognizable or unsupported by Skyrim SE. That is why some authors made a way to somehow make a working NIO in Skyrim SE that is by creating a mod which is the RaceMenu SSE which has a built-in NIO on it. Remember we just took those NIO that was originally from the RaceMenu mod. And since RaceMenu will not work together with Enhanced Character Edit (ECE) that is if you want to use ECE sliders, the RaceMenu sliders will always replace ECE no matter where you place it on your Load Order. In short, RM will always overwrite ECE when you set it on active or you activated both of them in MO2 at the same time. Some of the mods that needed NIO are NIO Highheels, NIOPA, and more because NIO's usage was particularly on the placements or positionings of Characters, NPCs, Creatures, Equipments, and Objects we use in the Skyrim game. So in the preparations of installing mods more in the future, we installed these files ahead of time if that particular mod will somehow needed the NIO. This tutorial is about using ECE, right? So to be able to use it, we will not activate RaceMenu on the Mods List because it will only prevent ECE to work in the game. And to make ECE really work in-game, there are files in the RaceMenu mod that are needed. We also included those files in the NIO Replacer folder we made from the previous tutorials. These files are the skee64.ini and the skee64.dll which involves on the Character Creations and Modifications of ECE. These files can be found on the SKSE folder of NIO Replacer folder we made earlier and will have a connection on SKSE for the management of our characters if we modify it using mods. Why we did install this folder in this way? Just like how the placements of folders in the RaceMenu before, we just copy it on that way, so the MO2 can be able to read it and make it work in our Skyrim SE game. We just follow how these folders are arranged and leave it like that, it is like we are cheating the MO2 to run RaceMenu eventhough it is deactivated in the Mods List. You all can see the arrangement I did right? The RaceMenu mod is always there but it is deactivated there so to be able to run Enhanced Character Edit, I only activated the NIO Replacer and the Enhanced Character Edit mods in the Mods List. Also from the last Episode, I show you how to properly install Enhanced Character Edit and to make it work by also making a folder which are the destination path for the player's character presets. We placed that presets folder of ECE called CME_save shortcut on the desktop for easy access. So if we added more presets that came from Mods sites then we can easily overwrites or replace and even added more here. I renamed it as CME_save - Skyrim SE because there is another folder there with the same name and I am using that folder for Skyrim LE. As you can see there's two Mod Orgnizer 2 shortcuts, one for Skyrim LE and another for Skyrim SE. I didn't do/use that game instance settings of MO2 to not make me and the program confuse on the folder paths of those two games. I am not recommending you to do this as well especially for those new modders out there, because it will really be confusing to use two Skyrim game at the same time. Just focus on one and that is the Skyrim Special Edition game that we are having a tutorials. ----------------------------------------------- How to use CME Presets in Skyrim SE? ----------------------------------------------- I took this part of the tutorial from Skyrim LE because the process of using ECE there is almostthe same in Skyrim SE Just always remember that the folder of ECE/CME Presets will only appear once you saved you very first character using ECE slots. By default it will always go to Slot 1. When you are done doing that then the folder will appear in the Documents folder. There you will find a newly made folder named My Games. Then open the My Games folder, under it you will find the Skyrim or Skyrim Special Edition folder which designates for Skyrim LE/SE game. Just open that Skyrim folder. There under that folder you will find several files and folders as well. The folder that we really need was named as CME_save. Just right click that folder then tap Send to and select Desktop (create shortcut). And then in your desktop, the CME_save Shortcut will be available meaning it will be easily accessible to you from now on. When you open that folder, you will see the save CME Preset file that you saved previously in-game. You can use readily used the CME Presets of others by just replacing/renaming the number of the file name. Also no matter what Skyrim you are playing wether it is for LE or SE, CME will always work. The shape of the face/head will always remain, the only issues are when you didn't installed the required face/body parts yet. For example the CME preset was using Tullius Hair and you didn't installed the Tullius hair yet, the outcome in your game was that CME Preset will use the default hairs available in-game instead. So always remember when using CME Presets, to always know what are the required face or body parts that they used in that particular preset before using it. To make it really look like the one you are expecting, then you need to install these required face/body parts mods. Well I already have the Ari and Arini CME Presets from Skyrim SE so we will just use those characters for now and replace the default. It will not really look like on the picture below because I didn't installed the face and body parts mods yet. I just Copy the two CME presets I saved before and Paste it to the CME_save folder to replace the existing _1_commonTriRaces.slot there. Now you will expect that the look may come close to just like on the picture below. I like having a photos of a particular preset so that I will know what the outcome appearance might be. It will not really look like on that source photo but it will still look close to it somehow. I play the game and open the showracemenu to modify the look of the vanilla character I saved earlier in the game. I went to the Body Interface and selected the Slot Load sliders there. A new tab will appear and let you select which Slot you are going to use, but don't ever select any Slot there yet. Select the Next option instead, so that a new tab will appear that will show you Slots 1 to 8. Just select Slot 1 and the character will eventually change it's appearance. The Slot 1 for me which is my character Ari will look like below when I use slot 1. And I added more CME Presets from the outside sources or Mods sites. Always remember that the format of the CME should always be in this form, _x_commonTriRaces.slot where x stands for the number of the slot in the ECE which it will use. CME 1 is Ari character I used which is the girl on the left of the picture while CME 2 is Arini on the right. These are really their original amd actual look in the game which was made by Craven. The appearances of my characters was slightly different from that picture because I am using a different skin textures for them. The photo below is the real appearance of Pretty Lili which is on CME 3 while CME 11 was my edited version of her, it was using a black hair and eyes on that slot. Slot 4 was used by the character named EarJN which a CME Preset I randomly got from Tullius Channel Site. You can see from the gifs below, how the CME presets I saved to CME_save folder works actually on the Enhanced Character Edit Interface in the Skyrim SE game. I started on CME 11 - Lili Black from Slot 11 then switched to Slot 1 (CME 1) which is my Ari character. From Slot 1 - Ari, I switch to Slot 2 which is used by my Arini character. You can notice that Arini got a Loli appearance that is why she is shorter and more childlike. From Slot 2 - Arini, I switch to Slot 3 which is used by my Lili character. From Slot 3 - Lili, I switch to Slot 4 which is used by EarJN character. From Slot 4 - EarJN, I switch back to Slot 11 which is used by another Lili character. With the gifs above, you will now have an idea how these CME saves actually work in-game. This is how we use the CME save as our character in the game and when you want to switch character, appearance or look - then you just choose from the Slots number that was being used. When you choose an empty slot then there will be no character to use from there and the ECE will notify you that it was not being used. ------------------------------------------- What is the easiest way to use ECE? ------------------------------------------- ECE or Enhanced Character Edit is a mod that replaces the built-in Character Creator/Modifier/Editor in the game Skyrim LE/SE that is why it looks almost the same with the vanilla character editor in-game. ECE adds up a lot of sliders, races, editor and slots where you can save and be able to change your character/ appearance at any time. The easiest way to use ECE is just by typing showracemenu after tapping the tilde "~" key of your keyboard. This is also the way to open the character editor with the vanilla character editor and with RaceMenu mod. Modifying your character using ECE is quite easier because the Menu Interface was almost the same with the vanilla editor of the game so if you switch among the Options of the Menu to go to each part of the head and even the body parts, it is much easier by just scrolling the sliders left or right until you achieved the desired appearance of your character. RaceMenu was also easy to use and very user friendly as well but since the focus of this tutorial is about ECE, then we will have another tutorial dedicated on using RaceMenu. If you look carefully on the Mods List of my MO2, the RaceMenu mod was also installed there but is not activated to prevent any conflicts on using ECE in-game. Practically if you want to edit the face or part of it by manually touching it, it is best to use the RaceMenu. We can also solve some issues for example neck seams we will encounter in the game by using this mod, and that is why it is still needed to have this installed in your MO2. ECE can also be used in a way to just copy and paste the presets directly or replacing the existing CME Presets on the CME_save folders which is easier compared to RaceMenu Presets that needed two or three files for the preset to work on it. ECE only needed 1 file character preset in the form _x_commonTriRaces.slot where x is the Slot number used in the ECE and can be used directly and readily in game. While RM uses two files which are the form x.nif and x.dds files respectively to be able to use that character preset and sometime it also needed another file in the form x.jslot just for the head mold or shape. The x in RaceMenu represents any name/words as long as it was an acceptible name. And usually these three files are all named the same. To show you how to use ECE, first we needed an existing CME Preset coming from the outside sources or mods websites. Of course if you want to make your very own original character that is also a choice for you so then there's no need to use other's CME presets for this particular reason. But for the sake of an easy way to use these presets then you just need to copy/paste or replace an existing or other's CME presets. First, we needed to go find, search and log in to your trusted Mods Website for example the Nexus Mods. Here you can find a lot of mods not only for Skyrim LE/SE game but also in other games. This is a trusted site and needed you to log in your account to be able to access/acquire or download the mods you like or needed from there. There are a lot of mods for Skyrim LE/SE game in there and we will never end if I describe each and every mods there, we are only after the use of ECE so only focus on finding the CME presets of characters from that website. But I am not satisfied with only doing that so instead we will take the harder route of looking for CME Presets, the website is called Tullius Channel where most of the character presets you find there are CME presets. You can see the link is below, https://arca.live/b/tullius When you go there, it is hard to read because the language is not in English but in Korean instead. The only English word you can read there is my name. Hahaha!!! ? I am just kidding so no worries. If you are a Korean (South Korean of course), then you can easily understand this website but if you are not a Korean then just use the automatic English Translation for this website. I am using Google Chrome so setting the English Translations of other language translated sites is practically easier. I don't know about the other browsers settings so just set them manually if you want the site translated into English language. On the URL bar, there are icons on the right side. There is a G icon there representing Google Translate icon which used is to automatically translate the whole page into another language. The Tullius Channel site is by default in Korean language so we just need to translate it into English by just tapping that icon and the Translate this page button that will appear below the bar, just like what you can see on the screenshot below. Press that button so that the Google Translate will automatically translate the page into English in default. So whatever country you are in, the Google translate will translate the page into English automatically not unless you tweak the settings and change the default language you are using. Now you can see below that the site page was translated into English language so we can somehow understand the words in the website. Just tick the Always translate Korean into English so that every time you visit this site, the language use will always be in English. We are after the CME Presets so among the group of pages there, select the preset tab just like below. Remember that you don't need to register or log in to this Tullius Channel site just to download a particular mod they shared. Under the preset Menu, there are several pages there which for sharing other people's character/s preset/s. When you are on the Menu, the name for example preset was highlightened by making the font darker in color. You can see below the list of the presets shared by other players of Skyrim SE. Under the list , the font of the pages will remain black, meaning you didn't read that thread yet and when it turn into gray then it means that you visited or read that page already. By scrolling down and going to the next page of list, you just read the pages one by one or those that your are interested in. When you hover your mouse on each thread, you can somehow see the preview photo of the appearance of the character he/she was sharing, but sometimes other members don't attach or place a photo of the preset they are sharing. Just check and read each thread there, so that you can actually see the character preset each member was sharing. For example I found a thread there which catches my interest and you can see it below. This is somehow interesting because the character's preset is really pretty. It is always a good practice to read the whole description of the thread you have chosen, so that even there's no sense in some of the sentences that describe it, it can somehow give you a general idea on how will that preset is going to work on your game. Sometimes the author will also describe the list of mods needed/required for it to be able to make the appearance the same with the supplied screenshot there. You will notice a link was also present on the descriptions which was also supplied there so in that way one can be able to share his/her presets. You can notice that the links are in blue color and underlined when you hoverthe mouse pointer there. Just click it and you will be directed to another window or tab. Then when you are on that new window or tab, you can just directly download that preset. The CME preset is always in the form _x_commonTriRaces.slot which is usually ready to use directly on the CME_Save folder. I downloaded it together with the picture of that preset if available. I always do this so that I will have a reference on the appearance of that preset character. Then I also open the folder of the CME_save on the desktop, you will notice that there's no preset there which has the same name with the file we downloaded earlier. I already told you about why I place a shortcut or the CME_save folder on the desktop and this is one of the reasons why. We can easily place/replace presets there in this way because it was very accessible in the desktop. No hassle on looking any where! Or where the hell this presets were supposed to go, right? I Just Copy or Cut the downloaded CME preset together with the attached photo and then Paste them directly on the CME_save folder of your Skyrim SE game. I included the attached photo so that I will have a reference on what that character should look like in the game. You should not expect more about the appearance to look exactly the same, but somehow close to it. Always remember that different players maybe using different systems, different ENBs, skin textures (that is if you didn't manage to get the required skin called Flour V2), and also the other beautification mod requirements for this particular preset. And now let us see it on the game... Normally the hair, the eyes and makeup if any will not set initially because sometimes the slot number or placement of that particular headparts is on the different number slot. Sometimes a modder had already installed other hairs or eyes before installing this preset so it is best to always read the description written by the author of that preset. In that way, we can exactly figured out what hair, eyes, makeup he/she used on that preset. It is on the Slot 14 as you have seen earlier from the previous screenshots. So from Slot 3, I just switch character to Slot 14 and you can see how I do it below. The hair used on this particular preset is zzz8.0_KS_Mix_98_Orchard_L of Tullius Hair Pack 2 V12. I have known this because I already read the descriptions written by the author of this preset. And the same way why I already knew what eyes the author used on this. With or without ENB activated, the Preset looks the same. And these are the reference picture and video the author of that preset provided for us. CME 14 v2.webm CME 14 v1.webm It looks the same but not exactly because I am using a different skin texture for my character. But still it looks very pretty for me. And I named her Quinn (Quintessence Timeaway). ------------------------------------------------------- How to easily export nif files when using ECE? ------------------------------------------------------- As we all know or even noticed, the Enhanced Character Edit for Skyrim SE cannot export nif files directly by using the F1 Hotkey while on ECE in-game. It will notify you instead that it didn't succesfully exported the CME Preset into nif files. We export nif files for the players who use RaceMenu. The ECE of Skyrim LE can export both the x.nif for the head mesh and x.dds for the tint/makeup used becasue some players also want to use the same preset but in the RaceMenu form instead. So to be able to export the nif files together with the dds file, we just need to install another mod which usage is to export the preset you are currently using or editing in the game. The mod is called CharGen Export SE made by osnius who is also the author of the popular mod called BodySlide and Outfit Studio, the CBBE body mod, and more. You can find the download link below. The descriptions on how to use this was also written by the author there but for the sake the actual demonstrations, I will show it on this tutorials. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/29954 I downloaded it and then install it on the MO2 so that I can now use this to export a Chargen Presets while using Enhanced Character Edit. I placed it together with the other utility mods in mods list and plugins. To be able to use this Chargen Export in-game, just go to the spells list by tapping TAB key and selecting the spells menu icon which usually on the left just like what was shown below. The a new tab will appear showing all your available spells in-game. You can see a spell named Export Head there. To be able to access this spell at any time you want, just tap F key so that it will become a Favorite spell from now on. Favorites shortcut will be and to be able to access that is just by tapping the Q key. Tapping the Q key is a shortcut bar for not only the Spells but also for utilities and outfit you want to wear right away without the need to go through your inventory just to find a aparticular outfit. Just always remember that you needed to make a spell, utility or equipment be a part of your Favorite (by tapping F key so that there will be a star icon beside it) to be able to place them on Shortcut Tab (tapping Q key). Once you equip a spell, it will be shown that by the arrow key icon beside it. That will depend wether you place it to right or R and left L, but activated spell will always work when equipped on the right hand or R. So for this spell to work just place it on the right hand, R. In the mouse, if you right click a spell it will be equip on the right hand of your character. Once you are done equipping a that spell, just cast it to yourself so that the face you are currently using will be made into a RaceMenu/Chargen Preset. Remember that this spell will only work on the current character you are using and will not work to any NPCs or followers in-game. It also only work to the current character ECE preset you are using so to be able to have Chargen presets to you other ECE characters, you need to switch your character on the showracemenu first. And when you successfully exported the current head of the character you are using, a notification just like below will show. When you quit your game and checked the MO2, you will notice that the Overwrite at the very bottom of the Mods List became red in font. A notification was also added to the previous ones, it tells that there is a file/s present in the Overwrite folder. Actually this is just normal when you saved and tryto export the CME Preset from your Skyrim SE using the spell in-game. So let us check what is inside that Overwrite folder by right click and selecting the Open in Explorer. When you open that Overwrite folder, it contains SKSE folder. Double click it to open that folder. You can also notice that we are atthe MO2 folder containing that overwrite folder. Then open the Plugins folder... After that then open the Chargen folder, with this we can say that it is a preset folder for the RaceMenu mod. There are a lot of CME presets that I export using the Spell in-game and we can see that one of those presets was the actual preset we saved previously named Quinn which is also our current game character in Skyrim SE. It also means that we can finally used that preset as well if we play a game that is using RaceMenu mod. Then let us activate the RaceMenu in the Mods List. There is nothing to worry about if the Enhanced Character Edit and the NIO Replacer were activated as well. The RaceMenu will always Overwrite them no matter where you placed the RaceMenu mod in the Mods List. When you activated the RaceMenu mod, you will find that the plugins produced by this mod was atthe very bottom of the plugins list. Just place these plugins just below the ECE plugins so they will be grouped together accordingly. When I run the game again but using RaceMenu mod in my game this time, I successfully exported Quinn, the character I exported earlier using the spell for ECE. You can find the .nif RaceMenu Preset files in teh Sculpt section of the RaceMenu Editor. ------------------------------------------------------- Why would I use ECE instead of RaceMenu? ------------------------------------------------------- For me, I use ECE most of the time now because it is really much easier to use than RaceMenu. The CME presets really contains the more closer appearance of the desired look of the character than in RaceMenu. But in both ECE and RM, if you have all the face or body parts required for that preset then it is easier to locate the missing parts of the look of the character. At first in either RM or ECE, there will be missing hair, eyes, makeup or body but it is easier in ECE because when the number actually matches in the CME preset then it will automatically used that parts. While in RaceMenu, the head or body parts are described in a particular name and it will not match automatically but you need to find it yourself. For example if your character preset is using Sina hair in default, the ECE at the right number where it is placed will match it up and automatically wear it unlike in the RaceMenu, you will wear the vanilla default hair and you need to find that particular hair first to be able to match the desired appearance of the character. The good thing about RaceMenu is the hair for example was described in a name and number as well. The downside of ECE is it was only described by a number in the sliders not unless you have to choose each of the hair to see what is the name of that particular hair. Another benefits of using ECE was it will prevent us on having neck seams on the characters even it didnt match the skin texture color of the head and the body. The color matching is easier to adjust compared to manually Sculpting the neck seams in the RaceMenu editor. There will be also some instances that a preset will have a neck seam that is if it was deliberated or a very unique CME presets, for example it was using another race aside from the default ones present on the Enhanced Character Edit. Another Race presets are expected to have neck seams or the color of the head not matching the color of the body. There are also disadvantages on using ECE, one is it is harder to use the Vertex Edit than the Sculpt of RaceMenu so fixing the neck seams in ECE will be harder as well. Another disadvantage is that you cannot use the face tats, body tats, hand tats and feet tats build for RaceMenu because it is not available in ECE. Everytime you use RaceMenu, you have to match the color you have in the reference if you have it. The neck seams are shown below using RaceMenu, it will happen most of the time if you don't have a matching .jslot and .nif of the same preset. The disadvantage of RaceMenu is you are always provided with .nif files and .dds files and without the .jslot file so expect that you are going to have neck seams for this reason. And when you change between characters without the same .jslot file, expect this issue as well. But in ECE, it will not happen that is if they have the same race. As you can see below, I changed between the adult body and child body but the neck seam did not appear right? Obviously Ari and Arini have different body shape and different body weight/height as well. Using RaceMenu Preset if you have .jslot preset of the character you want, then just find it on the list you have. For example I will use that Valmilia Preset on my list, I have a lot because these are the converted CME presets into RM presets I have before. When you find and use it, it will a have an odd shaped chin just like below. Thankfully we didn't encounter neck seams here. Then I went to the Sculpt section of RaceMenu and find the Valmilia.nif there. I used it and now the chin has finally became smooth just like what we can see below. I already have the correct Eyes and Brows so I will only look forthe right hair that was use on the reference photo I have. The description said that it is using SG Hairs and on my list it was on the lower numbers. I did find it easily and use it to match the reference. I turn on my ENB so that I can adjustthe color of the makeup or tint. Then there you have it. The original reference photo of Valmilia found on Nexus mods. I somehow managed to match it, I am using different body textures and ENB so it is not exactly the same but somehow close to it right? Okay! This is one of the disadvantages of RaceMenu, without a reference you will have a hard time figuring out how to come up with the same exact appearance or look of the character. In ECE, you will only have to find the correct Eyes and Hair there but most of the time it will match it up automatically that is if you already installed the correct hair and eyes needed bythat preset. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why I needed to install RaceMenu as well but it does not needed to be check on the Mod List? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are times or some mods that are really RaceMenu mod dependent but because we did a way to make the RaceMenu files work even without activating the Racemenu mod on the mods list so just like a backup for a file, we left the RaceMenu mod there in the list. Sometimes we need to convert presets from ECE to RaceMenu or vice versa so you don't have to install the RaceMenu every time you do this, instead it will act as a mod in waiting or a mod that is installed but not activated. RaceMenu will really overwrites the UI of the ECE once activated no matter what is it's place or order in the mods list, it will became a priority of MO2 and disables the UI of ECE or makes the ECE not work on the showracemenu. So if you are an ECE user just like me, then just see to it that if you are using ECE presets, just don't make this RaceMenu mod not checked or not activated in your mods list. On the next series, we will go back in time and show you what are the essential or foundation mods - their usage and importance and a technique how to mod or a way to expand and add more mods effectively using MO2. See you next time... ...to be continued.-

How the hell do I mod my Skyrim SE? Series 1
Ma Ri posted a blog entry in The Mods I Use in Skyrim LE/SE/AE Series by MaRi
Disclaimer: I am not claiming in any way that I am a pro or best or veteran in modding the Skyrim LE or SE, I am only sharing what I have done with my game through all the years of experience modding Skyrim starting from Skyrim LE and up to today Skyrim SE. I Started modding Skyrim LE manually and then I switch to Nexus Mod Manager and finally ended up using Mod Organizer. Now I am using Mod Organizer 2. I also know how to Mod Skyrim using Vortex but this tutorial was not meant for that, I will focus this tutorial using Mod Organizer 2. This tutorial might be effective to some people or players of Skyrim SE and might also not be effective as well to some, so it is still recommended that you do your own stuff, search for your own, resolve your issues, and mod your game with your very own style. Trial and error is one of the best way to use in modding Skyrim. For every failure you/will encounter, you will eventually learn from it. Each and everyone might have their own unique taste/case/circumstances in gaming, and we can say as well in modding so that is why I am not saying that you do the way like I do, treat this as merely just a suggestion from me as well to make your modding easier in some way or somehow. In the first place, you might be using a diferent system than me. I am not using a high end computer system, just a middle tier one I think. Just enough to play Skyrim SE Base Game without worries, so modding it will/might be tough for it. So if anyone is claiming to be the best out there, saying they are very good/the best/pro/veteran in modding, then get the hell out of here. If you are here just to comment bad words or troll, talking shits and making dramas, acting like a child here boasting about you, being the best. You are not needed here and so even your written words are not even meant to be here that is if your only goal or aim is to bark like a dog. I will gladly accept my own mistakes and I even take good suggestions from good people*. I even accept reality or subjective criticism, but before you do that, think first for yourself. Do you have a right? Or do you have a right to bash/comment things the right way not hurting people because you are just suggesting and not forcing your own way/thinking to other people? Remember to respect other people so that people will respect you too. So first and foremost, please respect my Blog. This is my very own blog, I am only sharing what I experience to all the people that might be starting modding Skyrim LE or SE or in different circumstances - people that might have the same experiences/stories like me. And why do I include LE? Because I have been modding Skyrim LE for a very long time, it is the same principle of modding I am using in Skyrim SE now. There are some differences between Skyrim LE and SE but the basics are almost the same in modding. Think first before you write anything. This is my very own business. And if you are one of the people who are just here, very jealous on the content creations of others and you want to become popular by making Dramas here. I am saying it out now - loud in your face, that THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. You are free to go and do anything you want, just don't involve me with it. In short, I don't care about you so just go ahead, kill yourself with it and mind your own business. Make your own blogs or content creations too if you want, no one is stopping you in doing it. Just don't spread your stupidity or negativity here. ? *Good People are considered true human beings while I considered Trollers/Shit Talkers as animals. So this is not the place for these animals, just go to the Zoo instead. ??? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From Ugly to Beauty Skyrim Episode One - Dead End? Once upon a time, I was playing Skyrim SE. Then one day, I came home from work and wanted to play it. Then I noticed that the Skyrim SE has became not playable anymore. After tweaking, doing anything to recover my game and even my system, I found out that a virus destroyed all the programs in my system including of course the Skyrim SE game. Even the picture files had became unreadable because of this virus. Don't worry, this not the Corona Virus I am talking about okay, so don't be afraid to get close to me. ? And so... even an Anti-virus cannot recover all my files anymore and that is why I ended up reformatting my whole system. After one hour of reformatting my computer, I will start all over again from scratch like everyone else. From the very beginnning, with nothing else on my system other than the default programs of Windows 10. There, you cannot see anything on my desktop right now, just the basic icons. I don't use Steam anymore because it slows down the loading of my desktop every time I start or restart my computer. Steam also updates everytime and it takes too long and became so annoying for me in years. I use the browser mode of Steam instead... to try , to buy, to check and browse games. On the end of 2011, I bought a new game called Skyrim Legendary Edition. When I first tried it, I was really overwhelmed by this game and it feels like real to me. On that time, the graphics of this game was still on a topnotch even it is only a Vanilla. The gameplay and almost everything is so good that I ended up not to stop playing it until I finish all the quests. On 2013, my computer's hard disk got busted and I cannot recover my Skyrim Game anymore. From there on, I started a way to get to backed up my Base Game or what ever games I enjoyed playing. It might be in the form of having a copy on a new disk, USB, and lately I used Cloud Storage. This is my game, I bought it so I can/will do anything I want to it but I never shared it to anyone so don't worry about game piracy. I really support and respect the developers as content or game creators so I will not ended up sharing my stored back up games. And now!, What do we have here? Of course I got a backup in my Cloud Storage... ? Almost 1 Terabyte of files/mods just for the Skyrim Special Edition Folder ? After I am done downloading my Backup Base Game (Skyrim Special Edition) from the Cloud Storage, I first install this All In One Visual Runtime that mostly solve problems or issues running most of the games for the first time. I tested it with other games that is why I also made a backup of it in the cloud and downloaded it. I tested it with all the Skyrim LE and SE, Ark Survival Evolve + DLCs, The Sims 2-4, Fallout 3,4 and New Vegas, Valheim, Assassin's Creed and the latest version I tested with it is Odyssey, GTA 5 and many more games to mention. This is a handy and a very helpful file, solving most of your problems that you might encounter at first running any games. I extracted it and it contains the following... Of course, I run it first before anything else... After finishing the installation of the AIO file, I open the SkyrimSELauncher.exe because I am an experienced in-game screenshot fan so I always do this every time. Choose OPTIONS, and the options will look like this, I set the resolution into 1360x768 at very low resolution so my game will run very fast and smoothly. Press OK and then PLAY the game. There is a reason why I didn't set the resolution into it's maximum, and that is for the screenshots' sake just like I told before. I always do screenshots in-game so if you maxed out the resolutions, on some OS (Operating System) will not be able to recognize the screenshots you made. In short, it will become unreadable and cannot be viewed as a photo, picture or screenshot because you set the resolution into a maximum and it breaks the limit resolutions of the screenshot. This is a tip I learned before when i was playing Skyrim LE in a very long years, taking a lot of screenshots there in-game. After running the game, I quit right away since I am not playing the game yet. Then I turn back to run the SkyrimSELauncher.exe once again. This time I set it to Windowed Mode because I am not after playing it yet but for the most important thing to see in the game. After setting the right options, then PLAY the game again. But this time it is in a Window Mode, so that I can easily switch windows and see how it affects my system. As you can see, the Skyrim SE takes a lot of memory so it is really recommended not to play it while running another software/program which eats up a lot of memory as well. If you can play the Skyrim SE alone not doing anything else, then just do it - to make your playthrough run smoothly. Then I start a NEW game, since this is a Base Game or first time playing it. It contains nothing else, no mods or anything. Then it starts right away, the Base Game will run smoothly and load fast without any problems (Maybe you hoped for that I cannot run the game, I've been playing this game ever since so I already know what I am doing)... Modding will be easier later on... I am really after this... That is to see the Skyrim SE version I installed or downloaded. It is version 1.5.97.0.8, the latest I think. The reason for that is to get the right combinations of game version and SKSE. SKSE is an engine that will run mods in your Skyrim Games wether it is LE or SE or even VR, the right version of SKSE must be compatible in your game version so that whatever mods you install on it, it will work without any issues. You can visit the SKSE Website/Link to find the SKSE version that will matched up your Skyrim LE/SE/VR Game Version. In case with me, I already downloaded it before and had a backup already so there is no need for me to find the right SKSE version for my Skyrim SE game. I just downloaded it before and do nothing to it yet. First things first or should we say we do one step at a time. I visit and login using my account of course to Nexus Website. I went there to find and check if there is the latest version of Mod Organizer 2. I also had MO2 in my backup cloud storage in case if there is no available updated version or in case there will be a situation where you cannot access the Nexus Website. And there it is... There is an updated version so I will use this one instead. I manually downloaded it since there is no other choices anyways. As if... ? After I downloaded it, there you go... the two most essential or important files that will make your modding the game easier. The skse64_2_00_19.rar and the Mod Organizer 2.exe file. To be sure I made a folder of MO2, my aim here is to make the Mod Organizer 2 place all the mods here and to make it more accessble for me. If I allow the Mod Organizer 2 to make it's own default locations of folders, it will not be really that hard actually but still, it will be time consuming just organizing, looking, searching, managing, finding the locations of mods you installed for your game. For this kind of guide, we are doing a manual installations of MO2 for easy access and easy to manage mods later on. We will Install Mod Organizer 2 first, since I already have the path folder to where it will go. Always do Run as Administrator for any files you will install so that you don't have to go to System Settings just to allow every or each file you want to install. If you are still uncontent with Installation of files and you don't want any issues to arise installing them, then just go to System Settings of your Operating System then just Turn Off the Real Time protection. Now we go back to the installation of Mod Organizer 2, this is the first window you will see on it's installation. Just choose I accept the agreement, then Next... Then on the next window, you will be ask where to install Mod Organizer 2. Since I already made the folder path before just browse and find it manually. Don't make the Mod Organizer 2 do it for you - or it will make another path and it will be painful to find them later on. I just find the one that I made first namely MO2 folder and it is in the Download Folder. It is very accessible and easy to find right?? Then when the setting of the output folder is right, then just tap OK. You can see below that I am in the right path of MO2 folder. Then just click Next... Then you are asked to choose which component files to install, by default just click Next... Then in the next window, you will be ask to Rename or place the Mod Organizer shortcut files on Start Menu. By default it is placed in the Start Menu Folder so just click Next... Then you will be asked to create a Desktop shortcut, of course you want a very easy to access Mod Organizer 2. So just check it and click Next... Then just Install the Mod Organizer 2 afterwards... When it is done. You can choose to Launch Mod Organizer or not. In my case I didn't Launch it first and then click Finish. As you can see on my desktop, the Mod Organizer 2 was finally installed. Don't focus on the girl but on the Icon marked by Yellow Box. If you want to run the Mod Organizer 2, just always run it Run as administrator. Or else you will always be ask by the system if you want to run this program as administrator every time. The first window that will pop up is Creating a new instance. Just tick the Never show this page again so that in the future if you want to play another game for instance Skyrim LE or Fallout 4, you will never be asked to create a new instance anymore and just use the existing MO2. It will become manageable later on switching between different games... For the first time use, it is always good to Create a portable instance. You can also choose Global Instance but if you don't know how these two works, just stick to portable instance instead. I am not thinking of playing another game yet so I choose Portable Instance too just for the Skyrim SE game. As you can see, the Mod Organizer 2 had automatically found the game to manage since Skyrim SE is very compatible to MO2. You can also manually look for it but if you don't know what you are doing, just stick to what MO2 was creating for you. Then click Next... For the next window, you are asked if you want the MO2 to create data folders for you or you can do it manually. But in my case I chose it manually. The MO2 will automaticcally make Skyrim SE folder on the AppData of the User on the PC or Laptop but it will be time consuming just to look or search for those folders later on. So just tick the Show advanced options to show all the paths where MO2 will make any changes in your modding... These are all the path folders that are very important in modding. I will choose manual setting of these paths so it will be easier to access and manage later on. We will do these manually for each folder path. See to it that the Base path folder for MO2 is correct beacuase there are circumstances that it will be placed on the AppData... Then I make a "download" folder in MO2 folder, that will be the output path of Downloads of MO2... Then I make a "mods" folder in MO2 folder, that will be the output path of mods that will be installed using MO2... Then I make a "profiles" folder in MO2 folder, that will be the output path of Profiles folder of MO2, Profiles are the kind of modding you will be doing in your game, it will be like a User that has a different circumstances of way of modding, that is how the profile is used by MO2... And then finally I make a "overwrite" folder which will be the output folder of any changes the plug-ins or you the modder done in your game. For example, FNIS will always make changes in the animations management of your game. This is the folder where it goes and so it will overwrite all the files above it. So in case there is a redundancy or repeating files, the overwrite will be the top priority of the Mod Organizer and will overwrite whatever files that contains on it, all the files that are above it... And when you are done correcting or setting the right folder paths for each or every folder, then you can finally proceed to Next... Then you will be directed to this window, If you want to Connect your Mod Organizer 2 to Nexus Website. The good thing about this is it will be easier to go , download and install the mods from Nexus if you are connected using your registered account. In my case of course I use to connect to Nexus using my account. Authorise it then. If you successfuly connected, you will see this. Then close your browser and go back to Mod Organzier 2. In connecting to Nexus of course, you will need an Internet Connection. You can also use MO2 without Internet so don't worry about it if you don't have a Nexus account or Internet. In my case all the mods I use befeore was already downloaded so I just connected this just in case of emergency if I don't have the Mod I used before. And then click Next... When you are done with everything then it is already finish. You finally installed Mod Organizer 2. If you Run your Mod Organizer 2 again, you are given a choice if you want your MO2 connected to Nexus at this time. I choose Yes since I have an account and internet. And it will open like this, loading but you are asked if you want a MO2 tutorial. Just tick it and Yes. You will see something like this upon opening MO2. This means that the tutorial is activated but I want to manage things manually so I close it again and then run it again. This will be the look of Mod Organizer 2 without tutorials activated. You can see a zero mod installed there yet. On the right panel of Mod Organizer 2, near the Run Button when you pull it down like this - you will see the lists of executable files. As you can see, there is no SKSE yet right? You can choose to close the MO2 or not. But this time, I created a SKSE folder where I will place the SKSE.rar file. Why I didn't use MO2 to install SKSE? The reason is SKSE.exe will not work in the Data folder. MO2 will install all the files on the Data folder of the Skyrim SE so in case of SKSE, that is not the place to go but nstead it must go together with SkyrimSE.exe and SkyrimSELauncher file as executables as well. And that place was outside the Data folder of Skyrim SE. First, place the SKSE rar file into the SKSE folder you have created. And then manually extract it there. You will see someting like below after extracting it. Then go to the extracted folder of SKSE and you will see the files that looks like below... On those files, just choose three files boxed below. Those are the skse64_1_5_97.dll, the skse64_loader.exe and the skse64_steam_loader.dll. Right click and Copy them... You can see on my Base Game, there is only the Base files there. It will work normally even without mods and now we are about to mod it. In here we will place the three files we Copied, you can see that you are in the right folder path because you can see the SkyrimSE.exe and the SkyrimSELauncher.exe executables there. And then I Paste the three files there. Now you see the changes in the Base Game, three new files were added to it. ? Now we go back to the extracted SKSE folder and find the Data folder, we can also manually place this to the Skyrim game folder but just to be safe, we didn't do it. We will always know that we added just three files there and we exactly know what are these files. It will be easier to pinpoint later on if there are changes that will happen on the Base Game... Open the Data folder of the extracted SKSE folder. There, you can just see the Scripts folder there. Right click it and manually compress it using WINRAR or any compressing program... You can see the compressed Scripts file... Now open or go to Mod Organizer 2 and then browse the Nexus Page by clicking the Globe Icon there... Let us find the SKSE64 INI Predownload as our very first mod to install. It will just install the tweaked ini file recommended for most users or modders so you dont have to manually edit or tweak your ini file anymore. I chose the file and then download it using the Mod manager we have which is MO2, And then tap Slow Download, the MO2 will automatically download it for you to the right path of mods... You will be asked to open NXM Link Proxy, this mean that everytime you download from Nexus if will be automatically downloaded using MO2. This will be the first and and last time you will see it that is if you tick the Always allow etc.... You can see that MO2 has really downloaded it. You can see it in the Download section in the Right Panel of MO2... And then Install it by right Click. Choose Install... A small window will pop up just click OK when you see the right name of the file or mod you want to install... And then it was finally installed in your game. There will be no effect on the Plug-ins side of MO2 so you will not see any plug-ins added there by this file.. When you check the executable files in the Right Panel of MO2, you can see a new .exe file there which is the SKSE. It happens because we added three new files on the Skyrim Base Game before or a while ago. It means that we placed SKSE on the right path of the Base Game... Choose SKSE and then Run it. To check wether it was properly installed. (I am not using Steam because it slows down the loading of my desktop and it updates everytime which is really annoying, I did use Steam for a very long time so I just ended up not using it anymore) ... Since I am not using Steam to run things. I do it manually like this, you are given a choice just like the window below and then I just choose Continue without Steam because this is Manual MO2 install and Tap down the Remember my choice so that on the next time you Run SKSE, you will no longer see these choices anymore... MO2 will Load a bit and you will see a window just like below, Just click Unlock and that's it... I started a New Game of course, I didn't play this yet right? We will do this to see if SKSE is running correctly like below. If it is not working, you will never see the version of SKSE beside the Game Version you have. There will also be a notifications saying that SKSE is not working correctly or wrong version if you ever have these any kind issues. We didn't encountered it so we can say that we have the correct SKSE version and it is working correctly. Close the Game and this time we will install another mod, right? We install mods in MO2 just like below by Clicking the Install Icon in the Left Panel of MO2... Find the Scripts rar in the extracted SKSE folder, and that will be the next mod we will extract using MO2 this time. Just like I explained before this Scripts file will happen to go on to the Data folder which is the right path for this file... And then it is installed as well like that. We need these Scripts because it contains the essential pex and psc files for the game. We do this so that we will not get confused installing mods in the game alter on. As you can see below, the two files we installed doesn't affect the Plug-ins yet. And then after this. We are now going to install Mods that may or will affect the Plug-in files later on. This is the principle I am using In modding Skyrim LE so it is also working in Skyrim SE as well as tested... It might be a different circumstances or cases to other modders, but I follow these rule from the moment I learned how to mod Skyrim LE. ...to be continued. -
How the hell do I mod my Skyrim SE? Series 2
Ma Ri posted a blog entry in The Mods I Use in Skyrim LE/SE/AE Series by MaRi
From Ugly to Beauty Skyrim Episode Two - CME Presets?... that is hard, RaceMenu is Easier. For this Series I will show you guys... - How to have a Net Immerse Override in Skyrim SE? - How to install ECE in Skyrim SE? - How to have and get a very accessible CME Folder? From the last Episode I believe that we installed two mods in two ways, one is directly from Nexus Site and the other one is using Mod Organizer 2 to directly install Compressed Files that you download. As you can see below, there is no Plugins shown yet on the right side of MO2 even we already installed 2 mods. Normally or usually Mods installed will have plugins on the right which are named .esp or .esl but I don't need to explain that since our focus here is how to start modding Skyrim SE, and that is using ECE like I said. To start, I already downloaded these two essential mods for me. These are the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch Mod for updating your Skyrim SE Game and Alternate Start SE so you don't have to undergo the default story start of Skyrim which takes a lot of time. It's up to you if you like to download these mods directly or indirectly using MO2 and also if you like to use them. Then I install the two mods directly by using the MO2 icon for installing downloaded compressed files. Now you can see below that the two plugins finally shown in the right side of MO2. The Bold .esp plugin must be on the top priority list of the Plugins and the normal .esp plugins must be below or higher number in Priority. Bold plugins are very essential because they usually determines a patch, update, or importance of that mod that will also affect other mods that you will install in the future and also affect the very game overall. After you install the two mods namely USSEP and Alternate Start SE, don't forget to check the mod on the Mod List on the left of MO2 so that their built-in plugins or .esp/.esl will show on the right side of MO2. Also don't forget to check or tick them on the right side of MO2 so these plugins will really work on your game. Afterwards I click the Run the game under SKSE so that the plugins will really run then. If you run the game under Skyrim Special Edition, the SKSE will not work and also the mods as well. With that you are only playing the Vanilla Skyrim or Base Game without mods at all. Then Play New Game. You will begin your game in Prison instead of starting from Helgen. You will see that you are under Character Creations and you can customize your character before you begin the actual game. This also determines that Alternate Start SE Mod is also working. You can choose whatever Race you want but for the sake of the basics of this tutorial, we will choose Nord Race for now which is very common for creating characters. Then Go to Body on the Top of the Menu and choose the sex of your character. I choose Female for now because I got a lot of Presets for female characters. We are not playng yet, I just shown you the very basics of this Menu because ECE or Enhanced Character Edit Menu looks like this and when we use it next time, we already know how to manipulate it. Then Press R when done and then Enter and name your character whatever you like. After these you will exit the character creation menu. Press ESC then Exit the game. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- How to have a Net Immerse Override in Skyrim SE? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I already downloaded all the files that are needed for my game from the Backup Cloud Storage I have. So I don't need to search and download them one by one from Nexus. For this using MO2, I install Heels Sound 1.5 SSE mod, SkyUI SE, UI Extensions SE, BodySlide and Outfit Studio SE and CBBE SE (Caliente's Beautiful Bodies Enhancer SE). You don't have to follow what particular mods I installed first, just for the sake of this tutorial I install them first because I am preparing some required mods for the character creations. Heels Sound mod is a requirement in some female footwears. I install it first because there are times when you install clothing or armor mods, it also contains footwear which really required sounds. SkyUI SE mod is a requirement in-game so that Mods Menu will also show up in there. UI Extension SE mod always comes together with SkyUI and also a requirement for Character Creations Mods which are RaceMenu and ECE (Enhanced Character Edit). And lastly CBBE SE so that the body of your female character will somehow looks good when created. If you want to use other body type like BHUNP, UNP or TBD, you are free to do so. CBBE is a very basic and easy to use body type for beginners that is the reason why I use this in particular. I check the mods on the left of MO2 as well as the plugins built with them but I left CBBE SE unchecked for now. Now let us install RaceMenu SE using MO2 icon. When it is done, don't check it yet on the left side of MO2. On the Mod List on the left side of MO2, choose RaceMenu Special Edition in particular. You can see that it was highlighted by a light blue background. Then Right Click it and choose Open in Explorer. When opened using folder explorer, you can see that in the RaceMenu folder that there are folder and files on it. What we really need there are the SKSE folder and RaceMenu.bsa file. But before that, let us download the Bethesda Archive Extractor (BSA and BA2) first from Nexus. It is file use to extract BSA files. There are files inside the Racemenu.bsa file that are needed by the Enhanced Character Edit SE (ECE SE) which also involves in character creations and editing. MO2 cannot download BSA so it is available on manual download only. Then it was downloaded like that. Extract it afterwards. After the extractions of BSA, you will be able to see the files below. Choose the BAE Application which is in black icon and Run it as Administrator. And a Menu that looks like below will pop out. On B.A.E. menu, choose File. Then under it, click Open File... Find the extracted RaceMenu SE mod that was extracted by MO2. In the last tutorial, I already made my MO2 folder very accessible which was placed on the Downloads folder. So under MO2 folder, choose mods folder. Find the RaceMenu SE folder and open it. You will see that only the SKSE folder and RaceMenu.bsa are readable by the B.A.E. application. Choose RaceMenu.bsa afterwards and Open it. Now the file - RaceMenu.bsa will go under the B.S.A. Menu. You can see that there is a drop down tab available on it. But before we extract the RaceMenu.bsa, let us make a New Folder on the BAE folder and I renamed that partcular folder as Extracted Files. You can make your own folder, rename it in what ever you want and place it on which ever is very accessible for you. On my case, I placed the Extracted Files folder inside the BAE folder so I can easily find the extracted bsa files in the future. I dropped down the RaceMenu.bsa file on the BAE Menu and see the files under it. What we need here are the nioverride.pex and the nioverride folder under the skse folder which is also inside the RaceMenu.bsa file. When you click Extract under the BAE Menu, you are ask to Select Folder which the RaceMenu.bsa file will be extracted. Find the Extracted Files folder you just made before under the BAE folder and Select that Folder. That will be our Output folder of the extracted bsa files from now on. When you are done extracting the RaceMenu.bsa file. Find and open the Extracted Files folder. Under it select interface, meshes and textures folder. Then delete these three folders. What was left for us are the scripts and skse folders. Go and open the scripts folder. Under it - select chargen.pex, racemenu.pex, racemenubase.pex, racemenuload.pex and racemenuplugin.pex. Then delete these files you have selected. Now what are left for us are the source folder and nioverride.pex. Go and open source folder. Under source folder, select all the files except for the nioverride.psc file. Then delete all the selected files afterwards. Now only nioverride.psc was left. Go back to the Extracted Files folder and select skse folder. Rename it as NIO Replacer or what ever name you want. Then Move the scripts folder to NIO Replacer that you just renamed or created. Now just the NIO Replacer folder was left. Then find the SKSE folder under the extracted RaceMenu SE mod on the MO2 folder. Select SKSE folder and right click Copy it to the NIO Replacer folder. When you open the NIO Replacer folder, be sure that it contains scripts and SKSE folder just like below. And when done, just go back to NIO Replacer folder. Using a RAR or ZIP extracting applications, compress this NIO Replacer folder into .rar or .zip file. And it's done. Using Mod Organizer 2, install the NIO Replacer.rar/.zip file you just made. Quick Install it. Afterwards you can see this NIO Replacer in the Mod List, don't forget to check and place it just under the RaceMenu SE mod. This mod will be a replacement for Net Immerse Override just like in the Skyrim Legendary Edition. There is no NIO mod in Skyrim SE because the .dll files on it are not compatible for it. Instead of .dll files, it will use the .pex and .psc files to be able to run mods which requires NIO or NetImmerseOverride. Example of these are the NIOPA, NIO High Heels and more. Inside this NIO folder, we included the SKSE folder which contains the plugins folder that contains skee64.dll and skee64.ini which are also a requirements for various mods and also for ECE Character Creations and Modifications. When we are done with these, then we can finally install Enhanced Character Edit SE. ----------------------------------------------- How to install ECE in Skyrim SE? ----------------------------------------------- Well, just Install Enhanced Character Edit for Skyrim Special Edition normally. Easy right? Select your preferred Language, for me I choose English like everyone else. ? Then tap Next... It is better if you choose Full Package since you will not RaceMenu for now. Then click next... Select Full Sliders and then tap Next... Just select according to your preferences and then tap Install... It will install automatically in your MO2. Now you can see ECE on the Mod List. In the the Plugins on the right side of Mo2, ECE supplied 3 plugins. The RaceCompatibility.esm which is very important for additional Races aside from the default ones present in your game. The other two plugins namely CharacterMakingExtender.esp which use are to add slots for your CME Presets and EnhancedCharacterEdit.esp which use are for Character Creations and Modifications. ECE also added some features or sliders for tweaking your character which are not present on the Default or Vanilla Skyrim. See to it that the RaceMenu SE is not checked on the Mod List so that it will not overlap ECE SE on the character creations. Once ECE SE was checked, tap check the 3 plugins that came with it as well so that they will work fine in your game. When you are done, you can now Check CBBE SE. I also installed the .esl patch of CBBE so it will not take the slot of the plugin anymore. Also check the RaceMenuMorphsCBBE.esp and CBBE.esp which are now flagged as esl plugin. After you are done then we can finally start a New Game or just Continue/Load your Saved Games. The first you will notice on your female character was it somehow looks prettier or the skin got smoothen compared to the Vanilla Game you saved before. This is the effect of the CBBE mod particularly on the body and texture used by your character. When you press ESC on your keyboard, you can see that MOD CONFIGURATION was present there. This is the effect of SkyUI Mod which added another list or User Interface on the Menu particularly used for the Mods which also comes with their built-in Menu or UI as well. Select MOD CONFIGURATION and the SkyUI or MCM (Mod Configuration Menu) will open. The SKY UI in particular let the user or player modifies the looks of the interface or Menu. And finally press Tab on your keyboard to exit the Menu. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- How to have and get a very accessible CME Folder? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- While on game, when you press "~" or tilde symbol on your keyboard. This key is just above the Tab key on your keyboard. Tapping ~ will open a console, then type in " showracemenu" continuously like in the picture below. Then press Enter and you can open the RaceMenu UI for character creations and modifications. You will be directed on the Race just like on the Vanilla Game but now just proceed and press the Body Menu above. It will look like the picture below. Select Slot Load by clicking it. When you click the Slot Load once more or by pressing the left or right arrow keys in your keyboard, the RaceMenu will load the Preset present in your game. Initially the Slot Load has a Preset present on Preset1 or Slot1 when you click Next below. Preset1 or Slot1 has a CME Preset which look something like below or maybe different on you. It all depends on what mods you installed in your game. When your Character changes then press R on your keyboard, it means that you are done modifying your character. It s not yet time to modfy our character. We are only just saving the default character on Slot 1. You are done saving the character when you finally done naming your character. For example I am done naming my character as Arini, then press Enter and you are ask to Save that on a particular slot. For now just Select Slot 1. Afterwards you will automatically exit the RaceMenu UI. CME will now create a folder for all your Saved characters in game. Since you saved your character on Slot 1, the preset will be named as _1_commonTriRaces.slot outside your game. You can Exit or still play your Skyrim game but we need to find the preset that was created by CME outside the game. By default you can find that folder by opening the Documents folder under This PC just like below. Under Documents you will find My Games. Just open that folder. Under My Games, there is a Skyrim Special Edition folder and open that. Now you finally found the CME_save which contains the presets that you saved in-game Right Click Copy the CME_save folder and placed that in your desktop as shortcut so it will be very easy to access then. I do this so when I find CME Presets online then I can just download and drop it there easily. Just be sure that when you place a CME Preset on your CME_save Shortcut folder, it must be in this format - _1_commonTriRaces.slot. The number "1" denotes the slot number of that Preset. It also means that Slot 1 of ECE is finally occupied and just choose another slot number to place your another preset. Since Slot 1 got an ugly or a default Preset, we can just replace it with another preset we downloaded online. For example, I already downloaded Ari Presets folder. Open the Ari Presets folder. As you can see below, there are two .slot files. I also downloaded the picture of that particular CME Preset. The _3_commonTriRaces.slot Preset is actually Ari while the _5_commonTriRaces.slot Preset is Arini which is the Loli version of Ari. I also downloaded the picture so that I will have a basis of what she looks like in game. Always remember that CME Presets will not actually determines the outcome of what your character will look like in game. It all depends on many factors for example - the textures, the ENB used by the author, and also consider the PC used. We only have a picture there, just for the basis of the looks of the character and we are just trying to somehow look as close as to that. Delete the _1_commonTriRaces.slot in the CME_save folder because it is a default preset created by your game. Copy the _3_commonTriRaces.slot preset from the Ari Presets folder and Paste it on the CME_save folder. Rename it into _1_commonTriRaces.slot by just changing the number 3 into 1. Then we are done replacing the Preset file on the CME_save folder. There is a number 2 on the exclamation icon on the right panel of MO2. It means that there are 2 errors or conflicts. It might also mean that there are files inside the Overwrite folder just below the Mod list on the left panel of MO2. To determine these errors, just click the exclamation icon with number 2 on it. Then the Notifications window will open. In there you can see the errors or conflicts. There are two conflicts which one, there are files in the Overwrite mod directory and the other one is an error on the plugins. When we click the Script extender log reports... The full details will expand below the Notifications. There are reports of incompatible .dll files or failed plugins, and I boxed them for you to see. To resolve the issues, we just find what folder contains them. And I found out that they are inside the ECE folder, under SKSE folder we can locate the Plugins folder which contain them. Incompatible .dll files are already old files and we only need the updated .dll file named characterMakingExtender_64_1_5_97.dll. Just delete the rest of .dll files because they only cause some issues on the MO2. After deletions of the files, the Plugins folder files should look like on the picture below. When done, just right click any mods in the Mod list on the left panel of MO2. Select All Mods and then choose Refresh. Afterwards, we can see that the notifications number has changed into 1. This means that we resolve the first issue. Now let us resolve the other issue which tells us that there are files in the Overwrite mod directory. We can see that the Overwrite below the Mod list is still red and it means that it really contain files. To resolve this is just right click any mods again on the left panel, then Open the mod in Explorer. After opening any mods there in explorer, just go back to the mods folder. Under the mods folder are the lists of mods that are installed in the MO2. In here, just create a New Folder and rename it into Output Overwrite folder. You can rename it in whatever name you want. Just for my case, I only choose Output Overwrite folder so that I can easily determine where are the files are going. This acts as an Output folder and also overwrites all the same files above the mod list. Always remember that the files on the very bottom of the mod list overwrites all the files above. When I refresh my mod list in the picture below, the Output Overwrite folder shows up. Just don't forget to check it afterwards. Then right click the red Overwrite below the mod list and select the Move content to Mod... A list of Select a mod... will show and just select the Output Overwrite in there. That is the very folder we just made before. All the files on the Overwrite folder below will automatically directed to this Output Overwrite folder. We can see that the Overwrite below became dim and the Output Overwrite named became darker. This means that this Output Overwrite contain files and so don't forget to check it. If we open the Output Overwrite folder, it actually only contains the CharacterMakingExtender notepad which initializes the ECE mods. Don't ever delete this because it also acts like a swtch for ECE. For the Continuation Blog, the tutorial will tackle the following... - How to use CME Presets in Skyrim SE? - What is the easiest way to use ECE? - How to easily export nif Files when using ECE? - Why would I use ECE instead of RaceMenu? - Why I needed to install RaceMenu as well but it does not needed to be check on the Mod List? ...to be continued.-
