Regula Magistri WGoA Compatibility Pack 1.0.0

About This File

Overview

This is a pure bridging patch with no gameplay content of its own. It lets Regula Magistri and Warcraft: Guardians of Azeroth Reforged 2 coexist in one game. It edits no original file of either mod; everything is done through overrides inside the patch's own folder, and the patch must always load last.

Main Features

Holy sites. Every Regula holy site points to a vanilla Earth county that does not exist in Warcraft. The patch redefines all of them, keeps the original gain parameters and modifiers, and only retargets the county to a Warcraft location, so the five core gains (intrigue, stewardship, martial, learning, diplomacy) work exactly as before.

Cultures. The parents, heritage, language and name list of about twenty-one Regula cultures reference vanilla keys. The patch changes only these four fields to their Warcraft counterparts and keeps everything else untouched.

Conquest templates. About twenty-one female conqueror templates have their culture and faith changed to Warcraft equivalents; all other fields stay.

Units. A batch of Regula files unlock a set of vanilla units Warcraft had disabled, and breaks the East/West split of siege weapons. The patch rebuilds these units on top of Warcraft's definitions; it re-disables the thirty-five wrongly unlocked vanilla units and restores the East/West gating of eight siege weapon blocks.

Deleted vanilla content. Warcraft emptied some vanilla innovations, traditions and geographical regions, leaving Regula references dangling. The patch rebuilds these keys with minimal structure to clear the dangling references.

Display. The holy-site chain, faith names and unit names still showed Earth geography. The patch overrides both the English and Simplified Chinese localizations, switching to Warcraft macro-region names and real imperial titles, rewriting tooltips as plain-text Warcraft county lists, and mapping faith names to Azeroth places.

Limitations

Hard errors only: only things that cause key-reference or load failures are handled; benign soft errors that are always false but never crash are left alone. Cultures change only four fields. Localization covers only English and Simplified Chinese.
One known display issue is left unfixed: special doctrine icons of Warcraft religions show a black and purple mosaic. Reason: I failed to figure out how.

Incompatibilities

This patch overrides following.

Files overriding Regula Magistri:
zzz_regula_wgoa_holy_sites.txt
zzz_regula_wgoa_cultures.txt
zzz_regula_wgoa_conquest_templates.txt
zzz_wgoa_maa_disables.txt
zzz_wgoa_siege_heritage_gates.txt

Files overriding Warcraft:
eight same-named unit files under common/men_at_arms_types
zzz_regula_wgoa_vanilla_innovations.txt
zzz_regula_wgoa_vanilla_traditions.txt
zzz_regula_wgoa_vanilla_regions.txt
zzz_regula_wgoa_princely_elective.txt

Overridden localization keys, all under the :99 revision, in both English and Simplified Chinese:
the regula_holy_site_event series
the regula_book_event.3100 series
the regula faith names

These overrides conflict with any mod that redefines the same names or keys, and because the patch is tightly coupled to Regula Magistri, it must not be enabled without it.
