Advice for new character

Callahorn

Recommended Posts

Greetings everybody,

After a long time i want to pley New Vegas again and i am sruggling with my build, and hoping to get some advice.

The thing is, i want to have exactly enough INT to get 6 skills to 100 (since i dont care for sneak unarmed or melee etc.) and maybe 2 other skills as high as possible.

I have all the DLC's by the way. Also i am going to pick Skilled and Small Frame as traits for the +1 agility and extra skill points per level. And i am going to tag three lowest skills that i want to level up.

When i am leveling up i dont want to take the perks like Educated or that other one that gives me one extra point when reading skill books, so only combat perks.

I was thinking something like:

STR 6 (7 with implant and maybe use that perk that gives a +2 for using heavier weapons, forgot the name)

PER 5 (6 with implant)

END 8 (9 with implant)

CHA 1

INT 5 (6 with implant)

AGI 7 (9 with inplant and Small Frame)

LUC 8 (10 with Lucky Shades and implant)

So my question is: do i need more points putting in INT to get 6 skills to 100? or can i use less in INT to get this result to? And any advice maybe to switch a point from one atribute to another? Because maybe 9 in AGI are just wasted points that can better uses elsewhere.

For long distance combat i will not use VAT anyway for the most of the time, ony close encounters.

O and the skills i want to max out by the way are: Guns, Repair, Lockpick, Explosives, Medicine and Science. Speech and Survival i want to get high as possible, but is not realy that big of a deal. (maybe Speech would be nice). I am planning to do hunt every skill book there is for the extra skill points.

So that was it, my deepest appreciation for any help or advice you can give me!

Hmm.. never mind...

I went with:

str 6 (with 1 inplant, 1 time intense training and Old world blues DLC, i can lift it to 10)

per 7 (Four eyes, inplant and lucky shades also 10)

end 9 (inplant 10)

cha 1

int 1

agi 8 (small frame and inplant 10)

luc 8 (inplant and lucky shades 10)

I figured with all the DLC and skill books i can get 8 skills to 100 easly.

sooo... looking forward to all the dumb conversation options....

Why exactly the rejection of Educated and Comprehension? You're not gonna run out of "skill slots" for your combat skills by just picking these two. In fact, if you're gonna play with INT-1 I STRONGLY SUGGEST you take them, give the really low amount of skill points you're gonna get. LCK-8 is completely redundant unless you wanna spend your time at the casinos, and END-9 is a little overkill (I'd shift one or two points into STR personally, never was too comfortable with just 6).

Then again, if you just plan on roleplaying then ignore everything I said and just build your char the way you want, I always like to make beefy women :D

You replied to somebody that started his playthrough almost 2 months ago. Callahorn has probably even finished the playthrough by now, as Fallout New Vegas doesn't have months of playtime. (Per playthrough)

Well shit, I didn't notice the date XD
