Do not install this mod if you play the vanilla game; the game will break!

Much as I enjoyed Studly Farm as a home, it felt a bit cramped after a while, given the size of my harem. ;) So I thought about using the Dragonsreach build, found a decent place for it, and started working. And then I thought, why not just use Dragonsreach itself?

This mod gives you Dragonsreach to live in. Balgruuf and his entourage are removed from the game entirely. The civil war chief field officers are also removed (stops them coming to check a map table which no longer exists). This will completely break the main quest, the civil war, at least one of the daedric quests, thieves guild and probably dark brotherhood as well. Thus, don't install this if you're playing the vanilla game. I don't play anymore, so I didn't care if the game broke. I figure there might be one or two others who also don't play, and might enjoy living in the best residence in Whiterun. ;)

In theory, you could install this after having completed the entire vanilla game. Should you have completed the civil war, siding with the stormcloaks, Vignar and his entourage also be removed from the game (via script), as will Sinmir.

Caius is allowed to continue visiting for lunch, if he is still captain. Guards continue to do their jobs. I'd like to block all or most other visitors but I don't know if I found all of them.

Aside from the above, I redecorated. The central dining area is now a pool. Farengar's study is now full of beds for followers or for your harem. There are many more beds upstairs in the two corridors overlooking the throne/pool. I added small trees and plants, erotic male art.

The Jarl's Quarters hasn't been touched as much, just small changes. All beds, and the pool, have strip triggers. This includes beds in the jail, dungeon, and guard barracks. Staff have been replaced with three new male NPCs: steward, cook and cleaner. These have their own beds. All other beds can be used by your own followers.

Oh, no quests here, at all. Install the mod, and you an move in right away. Similarly, people don't address you any differently. For the forseeable future, this is nothing more than a player home.

P.S. Jarl's clothing is in a cupboard in the jarl's bedroom. ;)

ffabris - I'm not complaining but wondering why FF resources mod is required. I have some of your mods from FF resources installed and this one is very big. I'm afraid it might "ruin" some other mods i have. Would you mind to give me short explanation? Thank you.

FF_Resource is just that, resources. Statics, containers, etc, and a few scripts, all in one big file. Saves me having to include the same resources over and over again. It has no quests.

If you already have it from some other mod of mine, no need to install it again (just be sure you have the latest).

Thank you very much, ffabris. Now I understand why it's needed. :)

I tried to install this mod without it but both, Wryebash and Loot reported error. I have them both now, and have no problem with my game (yet) ;)

1.1 is up; just small changes:

  • New: Vilkas and Farkas come to dine at Dragnsreach at 7pm, for 3hrs. Doing this broke the Companions questline too. ;-)
  • Change: Sinmir no longer removed if CW completed for the Stormcloaks. Instead, he remains at the Bannered Mare rather than moving into Dragonsreach.
  • Change: Allow fast travel from inside Dragonsreach.
  • Change: Steward's chair near Jarl's throne now set as owned by DragonsreachOccupants faction (of which the steward is a member). This prevents random NPCs from using it.

Fix for 1.1: Stupidly, the changes I made in 1.1 resulted in Farks, Vilkas and Sinmir getting grey face. I've now done the same things but in a way that doesn't touch the NPC records. Unfortunately, if you got 1.1 you'll have to clean to update. Course if you don't care about those three, then don't bother. ;-)

I sometimes wonder if my computer is too piggishly slow to run the CK in any reasonable way, or if people have far more patience than I at modding.

With my limited internet I won't be downloading either KS hairs or a "big" resource package even if a player house sounds cool and would fit fine in my "edit the skyrim ini and fill in a starting cell to start without the MQ or anything else firing" latest play.

Then again I can't get Tes5edit to work in MO, and I want to merge all my armor ESPs together (at least all the UNP ones or the CBBE ones).

One advantage to not using any mod organizer at all: no limits like the one you mentioned. ;)

Finally took a good look and it seems I got the bugged version of MO that had problems adding new EXEs.

Doesn't help with the KS hairdo file though.

As it turns out, there weren't that many visitors. There's one "Visiting Noble" ... not sure what triggers his visits but I guess I did something to stop them. And otoh, I get Farkas and Vilkas visiting instead.... though they come to dine, not bathe. ;)

Maybe it's Immersive Citizens but I have the old girl who owns the stable, Adrienne (the smith) and some others popping in. What about Ahlam's hubby, the snobby git who everyone dislikes?

I forget now who I prevented visiting. Well, Sinmir if he becomes captain of the guard, because he moves in, rather than just visiting. Oh and the imperial legate fellow, and his stormcloak counterpart, since the map table got removed.

If you saw the noble in code, and not in the cell itself, it is probably from Dawnguard, and one of the Guard side quest. You have to pick the noble's pocket for proof he is a vampire or taunt him into attacking you.... or stealth-snipe him or flat out murder his face.

No idea on IC, but I think Stories has her sleep package changed Adrienne to visit her dad's bed.... though she doesn't in my game and stands around in the hallway outside or sits in a chair. AFAIK Nazeem does not actually visit though he talks a big game.  I think I have seen both Ysolda and Amren the "are you a sellsword" guy (who in my game also has a broken AI package, in that he never visits his house but wanders the city 24x7.

In the cell - and briefly in CK, which barfed on the NPC, for some reason.... once only. Yet I can't find him in the cell. Go figure.

Many NPCs walk up to the doors (on the outside), then turn round and go back without ever going in. They follow the guard patrol markers. Makes them appear to be busy. ;)
