Kernel39 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Can I use the free image editing program GIMP to edit the texture to this wristwatch in order cut and paste an actual watchface onto it?Which one of these texture files would I have to edit?
Guest Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Yes, you can edit DDS files in GIMP (be sure you download the DDS plugin.) To find the one you need to edit, just open the dds files, until you will find the one you need to edit.
myuhinny Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 The one needed for altering a .DDS file is always going to be the first one in the texture list the rest after that are the _n and whatever else files. When you get ready to alter a texture file have nif loaded and rendered in nifskope so that you can see how it looks. With gimp2 once you alter the file hit overwrite .dds and then look at the nifskope screen and see if you like what it looks like after you altered it. If not hit edit then undo then try again till you get it how you want. Do not close gimp2 but instead leave it open till you go into game and see how it looks like in game if you like it great close gimp2 if not go back out and undo again. Once you close gimp2 you will not be able to change anything you did so make sure it's what you want before closing it or you'll have to start all over again from scratch.
Halstrom Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Paint.NET is what I used for Texture work in FONV, but Gimp is probably better and more popular.
Kernel39 Posted September 12, 2016 Author Posted September 12, 2016 Apparently there are texture files in this mod called HUD which includes a watch face, but they are not included onto the actual watch itself when the mod is used. Perhaps this is a bug and someone here could help me troubleshoot it?
