Fallout 4 DLC files take priority?!

A little introductary anecdote:

 

 

So I was trying to get this mod to work for Automatron. (It's a sound replacer for the female protagonist's voice), and I just couldn't get it to work. This was, until the author suggested I unpack the entire archive containing the voice files as provided by Bethesda, rendering the ba2 archive unusable by the game and then putting the modded sound files into the unpacked folder. Then, it did work. Conclusion:

 

 

 

FALLOUT 4 DLC FILES TAKE PRIORITY OVER MODDED FILES!!!

 

I honestly can't believe it, but this basically sets modding back ten whole steps since it requires you to either use vanilla assets because they take priority over modded assets, OR load up your precious disc space by unpacking all those ba2 archives just so you can replace those files manually.

 

So all in all... either Bethesda should really look into this and FIX it, or we have to start looking into a way to circumvent this priority treatment.

Ewwwwwwwww.... I haven't picked up the DLC yet. Honestly I was disappointed when the vanilla launcher turned off all ESP files.

 

I'm kind of afraid. Bethesda has seemed VERY anti-modding so far on this game. I'm getting the feeling in the pit of my stomach that they're tired of people making porn in their engine.

Would this effect textures as well?

I re-installed game with this new dlc and started adding mods with MO: cbbe+bodyslide, weapon rebalance and some armor-mods seem to work or atleast i can see them in workbenches.

But i cant get Gift's Erotic Artwork-All in One   and   satellite color world map for pip-boy to work??

As far as I can guess, it only affects files from the DLC itself. Main game assets don't seem to have this feature/flaw. So far, I've only experienced it with voice files, but I'm assuming the rest of the DLC assets take priority as well.

Please be aware that ALL mods out from FO4 right now have been constructed by using a "cleaned up" version of the main Fallot4.esm file.

So there is no way for Beteshda to understand if something is coming from a mod or not.

 

Then they decided to give priority to the DLC file items. No matter what.

 

This is the problem when people do modding without waiting for an official way to do modding.

 

A commercial company like Bethesda cannot have the guys that do not care about modding (and they are the majority) to complain because their 10 bucks for the DLC are lost because it does not work.

You are not supposed to mod the game before the CK/GECK :^)

Yes... lets give them some time  to get game tools and such out. As far as they are concerned... there is no editor so there is no game modding that is going on. Those that are doing so are doing so outside the game against the game process and they aren't really responsible for any problems that occur during this process. There might be some issues with the CK or even the new archive formats and changes with the engine that they want to work through before releasing the CK and tools.

 

Lets wait until the CK is out and perhaps an update or so to make our final evaluations on their new process and any alterations they have done. Until then the final product is speculation.
