genericlogin Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 View File Christianity Mod r1.4.1================ Premise-------In its early history the Catholic Church was more heavily influenced by womensuch as Mary Magdalene. As a result, equality is the norm for Catholics. Womencan hold council positions and lead armies without restriction, and may enterthe clergy. This Church's views on sex evolved in the reverse of itshistorical counterpart: lust is a virtue, and chastity is one of the sevendeadly sins. Whores are held in high esteem, and clergywomen are very likely to be whores.Incest is accepted as normal, but doesn't have the Zoroastrian divine bloodbelief. Concubines are also allowed. Adultery is looked on as generally goodbecause it shows a woman's desirability, but rulers may choose to discourage itin their wives to avoid succession problems. Installation------------To install this mod, follow these steps:1. Open your "Documents" folder.2. Locate the "Paradox Interactive" folder within your "Documents" folder and openit.3. Locate the "Crusader Kings II" folder within the "Paradox Interactive" folder andopen it.4. Locate the "mod" folder within the "Paradox Interactive" folder and open it.5. Copy the "Christianity Mod" folder and the "Christianity Mod.mod" filelocated in the same folder as this readme to the "mod" folder. You will now see it in the list of mods when you run Crusader Kings II. Game Mechanic Changes---------------------I greatly reduced the likelyhood of getting the inbred trait, as in real lifethe danger of inbreeding comes from harmful recessive traits, which is alreadyhandled by normal inheritable trait mechanics. The remaining low probabilitysimulates multiple bad recessive traits that wouldn't individually merit a gametrait eventually adding up. I lowered the age of marriage to 12, as it was in medieval Europe, because I'mnot selling this and therefore don't need to give lip service to Victorian erabeliefs. The age of adulthood for purposes of guardianship and regency ending iscurrently set at 16, as the idea of education lasting until 16 is deeplyembedded in the game. Absolute Cognatic succession law is available for all Catholics, even tribes.Basque titles start with it, but other titles still use their default successionlaws. Note that the status of women laws, introduced in Conclave, are redundantfor Catholics who are effectively equivalent to the highest level at all times. The Tolerance tech level requirements for improving the status of women havebeen lowered to reflect the influence of the numerous Catholics. Compatibility-------------This mod requires version 2.5 or higher and the expansions other than SunsetInvasion. It works fine with the Your Personal Castle mod, which is recommended, and with Better Looking Garbs. Includes--------This mod was inspired by and is derived from nadamod, which in turn uses VIET,Your Personal Castle, and Duel Engine. Nadamod also used a custom map and a lawmod which are not included here. I've separated out the files from Your PersonalCastle as well--anyone wishing to use that mod should install the regularreleased version. Known Bugs----------* Free investiture is hardcoded to only allow men to be nominated assuccessors. This is a known limitation which Paradox will hopefully change.* Only men can take concubines. This is a hardcoded limitation that I can't doanything about.* Some characters are created as adults by the game engine and can't be moddeddirectly. The event that gives women their curves will trigger for women createdthis way eventually, but it can take up to six months. This is for performancereasons, and I may adjust the frequency later.* Catholic rulers get the "liege is jain" opinion modifier with their vassals, which greatly increases realm stability. This is an engine bug that gives theopinion modifier based on a religion's "pacifist" parameter being set to "yes",as it is for Catholicism in this mod. In the base game, Jain is the onlypacifist religion.* The status of women laws can still be changed for Catholics, but doing so willhave no game effect. The engine offeres no way to disable that law even whenit's redundant. Submitter genericlogin Submitted 03/14/2016 Category Crusader Kings 2 Requires CK2 View File

genericlogin Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 Considering how many people have it in the 21st century, that sounds about right.

ReMeDy Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Unless I overlooked something, it would seem you have to play as the CATHOLIC religion. Contrary to the mod's title, playing as a Christian religion does not work (ie. playing as the Messalian religion does not work). Speaking of mod titles, I have to be blunt on one point that's been nagging at me ever since you released this: You picked a really boring ass original name for your mod, lol. It's not very descriptive whatsoever, and with so many other mods altering religions (esp. female religions), it can get easily lost among a trove of other downloads on a user's mod list. Anyways, it'd be cool if there was a sub-mod for this that only applies to other specific religions. What I want to do is take a small religion that prides itself in lustful sins, and expand it. This mod does the opposite of taking a popular religion (Catholic) and starts with a majority corrupted. Of course, nothing wrong with that for those who want that, but I like playing as the under-dog and starting small on things and working up.

This mod doesn't change any starting religion or in any way alter the normal game mechanics for changing religions. If you're finding that everyone in the game is Catholic, try turning off any other mods you're using. 2. I make no claim to be good at naming things. 3. It sounds like the Dark World mod's Lilithian religion would be more to your liking.
sen4mi Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 One thing that is kind of interesting, to me, is that this mod is actually fairly tame when compared to stuff which has been recorded about medieval history. Specifically, when the whole protestant reformation was going on, there were other splinter groups of christian scholars, also. One group, in particular, was took over entire towns and turning them into what would nowadays might be called nudist colonies, according to some dry old books. Sadly, though, stripping everyone of clothes and also abandoning all weapons turned out to be not all that effective of a military tactic against people who were mostly interested in acquiring ownership of the land. And, after losses on the order of 98%+ that survivors of particular group of heretics apparently changed their focus somewhat... (And, nowadays, their descendants are probably mostly considered extremely conservative, when they're not being considered extremely liberal.)
