crashing in primm

I seem to be having a major problem in fallout NV, I keep crashing in primm, seems to only happen outside the buildings and only in primm so far. Now let me emphasize that my game CRASHES with an error, it does not CTD. Any help is appreciated, here is my load order.

are you using new vegas anti crash from the nexus? excellent piece of code from a master programmer. i guarantee that if it does not stop your crash (which i would bet it will) it will at least give you a log file that can point us to the problem. might want to pick up the stutter remover while your there, i would not even play this game if not for it. MAJOR improvements to every aspect of game-play performance.

now to the load order...... which looks very similar to mine by the way, (excellent taste, sir :) if your caliberx install is up to date, you should not have caliberxhonesthearts.esm or caliberxgunrunners.  if you installed "Caliber 4-016 ESM Update-39981-4-016.fomod" from the nexus then caliberxhonesthearts.esm and caliberxgunrunners could be the problem. please update caliberx and delete them. let me show you my current load order

so I deleted those 2 esps like you suggested and so far I am getting through primm without any trouble, if it crops up again i will post again. thank you very much for your help. Also thank you for the compliment, some of these mods i cant live without :P

could you also post the nvac.log and your stutter remover log and ini? also, what version of the stutter remover are you using?  it looks like something tried to access a "critical section" while it was already in use, but could be a handful of other things. like a bug in the game, sadly, or a virus modifying that dll. but, how long were you playing before it happened?

I am using version 4.1.31 of stutter remover, and its not a virus I did a thorough check of my system recently, as for how long I played before it happened, as far as I can tell it only happens in primm, the game played perfectly until then.

thanks for the info. personally, i noticed an increase in performance after upgrading to v 4.1.33 of the stutter remover. is there a particular reason you are not using the heap replacement? it looks like you are running out of memory in primm for some reason. how much ram do you have? is your windows a 64 bit version? try changing "breplaceheap=0" to "breplaceheap=1" and then under the settings for heap replacement, change the 250 to 1024 first, but if you have problems set it to 512.

I am not sure what heap replacement is, never heard of it. As for my pc here are my specs:

 

CPU: AMD FX 6300 six core @ 3.5GHz

RAM: 8 GB

OS: 64 bit version of windows 7

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti with 4 GB GDDR5 memory

go with the 1024. :) and defrag that hard drive, i use ultradefrag. even with my solid state drive (i recommend getting one, 40x faster than reg hard drive.), i get alot of crashing after my disk gets out of whack. and to use some of that extra ram you can check out the 4gb enabler, this version launches the nvse.    http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35262/?

yes I would like tweaks to take advantage of my system, also I am already using the 4gb enabler for nvse, and both my skyrim and fallout nv are installed on my 250 GB SSD, ill try out those stutter remover settings.

are you sure it is working right? when i run mine, i don't have a "FalloutNV.exe" running, as it is injected into "FalloutNV.4gb". they may have updated it though, but after telling people this before, the ones that respond back have said they were not using it right. are you launching the game with fnv4gb.exe? i will post the base ini i started with, the instructions that came with it (very important) and also the ini i use in my game. as for heap replacement

my specs are lower than yours, and on a laptop,  but we have the same amount of ram, so many settings (in my ini) you will not have to change.

The following INI's provided are modified to improve performance, 3 are present,
FALLOUT, FalloutPrefs, and Fallout_default.

The majority of the changes made are to allow better overall game stability for users with
Multi-Core Based CPUs, more recently released GPUs supporting DX10 and DX11, as well as those with 1 or more gigabytes of system RAM.

FalloutPrefs serve as the main configuration files of Fallout New Vegas.

Any changes made to these particular INIs are implemented into the game's settings, and will override any and all settings present via the Fallout New Vegas Launcher Options.

Fallout_default maintains the games default settings created upon installation of
Fallout New Vegas.

I recommend that you back up you're Pre-Optimized config files,

iPre-Load Size Limit applies to the amount of game data being pre-loaded, and works
accordingly to the value specified based on the amount of RAM you have installed within
you're System.

This can reduce stuttering, because more data that would otherwise be force loaded
as you navigate the game world, is being now be pre-loaded when you load an area, interior, exterior, or otherwise loading the game after having Launched.

This can potentially increase load times, but well worth the performance difference,
especially for those with 1 or more gigabytes of RAM.

Cells being loaded, whether Interior or Exterior, according to the amount of RAM

Changing Video Settings

These configs have the game set at it's highest values according to the Launcher, I have adding nothing to increase/decrease visual quality, the only commands added are to optimize the game itself.

If you have originally set Fallout New Vegas to run at it's highest settings, you need not read this next section unless you wish to learn how to modify settings on you're own within the INI.

[This only applies to the main version of Fallout New Vegas Optimized, that being classified as Max, other versions, Medium, and Low have been modified with the intent
of minimal visual properties.

Note, every version comes pre-configured with a resolution of 1920x1080,
and as such, should be modified if desired.]

Since these INIs will overwrite settings you may have set via the Launcher, you should become accustomed to modifying you're Configs, rather than dealing with the limited settings within the Launcher.

To modify video settings, locate FalloutPrefs, in Documents, My Games, Fallout NV.

[This tweak, along with bRunHighLevelProcess=1 are recommended to be enabled
in unison(on by default, unless running on Fallout New Vegas Optimized Medium or Low).]

and my version for use with 8gb of ram. with some additional changes to optimize background loading (stopping frames being rendered in background and giving it more time to do it per frame), increase distance rendered (i like to snipe) along with other optimizations. NOTE! i do not have shadows enabled in my game! use the free filescompare tool linked to above to see the differences in my ini (no shadows, adjusted brightness and volume defaults, no radial blur, no kill cam, +more) and the original (shadows enabled among other differences closer to the original ini's)

 

these settings interact with one another, so a change in one can (will) affect the other ones. an example would be increasing "fLODFadeOutMultActors="........ unless you increase "ugridstoload=" this changes nothing. if you have issues, my "ugridstoload=" would be a good place to start "testing" but you should have no problems with that rig, unless you  reach the limitations of the GAMEBRYO engine (which my ini is pretty close to ;)

if you have any questions i am here, but you can find out alot about what each setting does by googling it. example: type "ugridstoload="
 in your search engine of choice.

thanks a lot, ill give it a try, as for the 4gb loader, i always launch the game with the fnv4gb.exe. also I think ill leave ugridstoload alone lol, because if you decide you dont like the setting you can only increase it, but if you decrease it your save game wont work.

i believe nvac or nvse or the nvse extender took care of that problem. i don't have issues with it anymore. though there is a command you can enter in the console to return it to the default value (and not cause save game problems. but, anyway, without increasing that, you will not see any visual enhancements outside of your current cell. sorry.

 

and as for the fnv4gb...... your nvac log tells me it is not working.

hmm well I launch it with the fnv4gb launcher I do now know how why it wouldn't be working as I did follow the directions for installing it. also in that tweaked ini instructions he says to change  UinteriorCellBuffer and UExteriorCellBuffer but I cannot find it anywhere in the ini and I am unsure of which section to add those lines to.
