Strange warping of feet for CBBE armors

Recommended Posts

I am having an issue with CBBE armors (boots/shoes or heels) where the feet would stretch and warp in a really weird way when the character crouches or gets into a certain pose. This issue isn't present in BHUNP/UUNP meshes, so I am wondering if it is a bodyslide issue. Strangely enough, CBBE nude does not have this problem when crouching.

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this? I will attach these images as an example, comparing CBBE to BUNP/UUNP feet.

Here is the BHUNP/UUNP example of a normal foot

And below here is the CBBE foot, notice how the foot and toes are stretched. The chains are also warped in the opposite direction. This is not isolated to this specific armor set. It appears to affect all armor sets.

Both look like a case of broken bones to me.

Any suggestion on a fix? I am runnin XPMSE, but I can also see some skeleton overwrites with Baka's ABC and SOS. (Edit: Just tried installing the latest XPMSE skeleton and overwriting everything. The issue still persists.) Is this normal for CBBE footwear?

Obvious question - is it just that footwear or all?

Seems to only affect all footwear. If my character is naked, the foot appears normal when crouching. I'll post an example with a different outfit

Standing in outfit (any outfit):

Standing barefoot:

Crouching barefoot (everything looks normal as it should):

Redo the weight paint on the feet. This will have to be done for each outfit, and this usually sounds easier than it is. Blender may be necessary for a precise job like this.

If it's affecting all armor sets then it might be something to do with the bodyslide tools that every modder is using to convert these sets. I'm surprised nobody had noticed this.

I'd say its more likely a compromize or limitation with the the skeleton being used. The knee has been/is another one of those "tricky spots" to get right as well. Could you get better/different results with a different skeleton? Probably. Is there a different skeleton? Don't know, XMPSE is typically the only reliably supported one - the one everything else is built on.

Edit: And you may notice that when it comes to the knee, at least a part of the "fix" in both of the links above was to just not bend the knee as much. Compromises all around.

The foot may be a tricky place, but when I switch to UUNP or BHUNP, the issue with the footwear stretching and warping goes away. I'm wondering if it's a flaw in CBBE or the CBBE bodyslide itself.
