Schlongs of Skyrim AE giving Papyrus dll warning (Only happened recently)

So I am currently modding Skyrim SE (AE) using MO2, and following a guide here on the sight that is said to be a bit outdated, but so far beyond a few small issues, nothing is currently breaking (Just a couple of mods causing issues that I don't need right now or can look into later.)

 

Anyways, as I'm adding animations to the game, I recently ran into an issue with Schlongs of Skyrim (AE) that I didn't have before.

I'm using the most recent Papyrus Utility for SE, which has a Dll, and this problem occurred only recently.

Seems my SOS version doesn't have this error message, so I can't verify where its getting those version numbers from. If I had to guess however, it's coming from either PapyrusUtil.GetScriptVersion() or PapyrusUtil.GetVersion().

 

GetScriptVersion can be verified and modified easily enough in PapyrusUtil.psc:

int function GetScriptVersion() global
	return 39
endFunction

 

GetVersion is a different matter as its declared as a native method. Meaning its definition is in a dll. To verify and/or edit this one would ideally have the source code.

 

Generally how that version number works however is that 41 = 4.1. So you'd be looking for PapyrusUtil version 4.1 compiled for your current SKSE and/or game version.

MO2 has had issues with plugin mod indexes for the longest time. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some discrepancies there. There's many situations where it assigns the wrong index to plugins. If you absolutely need the correct index, try xEdit instead, or for your undisputable answer: the game itself.

Right, well, start with the assumption then that you simply have the wrong PapyrusUtil version, and the reason why its reporting 0 as its version is because it never loaded in the first place. The papyrus log as well as the skse64 log may shed some light on that.

I got the modlist and load order from my MO profile folder.

 

But as mentioned, the load order there isn't the same as what I have in MO2 by default or when I sort it.

 

As for Simply Knock I'll activate that and see if it is the problem.

 

Edit: Bingo, Simply Knock was what was causing the issue. Gonna look into it and see if there is a way to get it to work with like, a patch or something.

Simply delete the PapyrusUtil files from that mod, or shift the load order such that it no longer overrides PapyrusUtil. I'd delete, not only because who knows where that dll came from, but secondly, if you leave it, it may come back and bite you in the ass a year down the line.

Yeah, I'm starting to get an idea of what was going on, hopefully that will fix the issue.

Are you sure it's the same profile? I've never seen a difference between the txt files and what's shown in MO2. I've done a few setups where I move txt files around, even editing some lines manually to get a certain outcome in MO2 and it always match 100% what I do as long as each profile or instance has the same mods and plugins as the ones written in the txt files.

As for the Papyrus Util yes, deleting/hiding or overwriting those old files from Simply Knock should work. But like I said Simply knock has its own dll file and you also need to get an updated version (it's literally called that in nexus simply knock updated dll or dll64 something). It's just a really old mod but should be usable with the old files removed and the updated dll.

Deleting the SK papyrus worked, I can now continue modding Skyrim.

 

I still have some issues, but I'll figure them out when I get to the end of my initial selection.

This is the first time I'm modding MO2 and I have only a default profile. For what it's worth I haven't noticed anything off so far, game seems to run fine.

When I downloaded the mod of the nexus, it was updated this month, though I can give that a look also.
