NOLVUS and Devious Devices SE

Hey,

 

i am using the NOLVUS Mod pack, so far i could get everything working fine.

But as soon i want to install Devious Devices SE i stuck in a infinity loading screen at the start of the Game.

 

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

why so aggresive ? If you dont want to help thats totaly okay and if i did something which is against the Rules of the Board, let me know then i can fix it.

But back to topic and your Questions:
I read the requirements, and i have everything correctly installed.
And why? Well because i want to use Cursed Loot....

You are using a Modpack, nobody knows what the Dude exactly did while smashing it together. As far as I am concerned, Modpacks are not to be edited by the end user,because whoever made it, probably tweaked and patched things without you knowing.

The reason Miauzi is a little bit on the aggressive side is, that whenever somebody installs a whole modpack, they are coming here. We didn't made this Pack, most of us made our own modlist from zero to finish that is why they work.

You best ask for help from the people who made the pack, if they don't offer support, you are on your own

From my experience with Nolvus, and a few other modpack creators, they tend to leave some room at the end of the modlist for you to add your own mods in to it.  Of course you'll have to carefully read through the compatability of the mod you want to add and then test it out to see if it will work.  Some people who create modpacks tend to put a lot of time and effort into making sure everything is smooth and compatible while trying to leave room for you to add your own things but they may not be able to provide any support in terms of helping you out with mods outside of their modpack.

 

So if you are using Nolvus, I'd say go ahead and install the mods you want to install while making sure there isn't any game breaking conflicts between Devious Devices and Nolvus.  I personally haven't had any problems with Nolvus when it came to using mods from LL but I never used Devious Devices before.  So the best thing you can really do is try it out and see if it will work with little to no issues.

 

Also, with the infinite loading screen, that usually happens when mods are conflicting so you might have to check your load order or turn off some of your previously added mods one by one while leaving Devious Devices on, to see if it will help you find what causes the infinite loading.

 

I would also say check your mod count to make sure you aren't over the threshold, but from my experience, going over the mod threshold causes other problems rather than infinite loading screens.

The reason i asked here was because i saw some users had similar / same questions Like me and maybe they got some answers since then.

@megadomonic thanks for the Tips. Unfortunaly i am not really experienced with Mod orginazer 2, i only used Vortex in the past. But i will give it a go

You need to remove mods, that modlist is very close to the 254 plugin limit, so adding a few mods or even a single mod with multiple esp/esm will break it.

Most modlists have 0 support to modifying the base modlist. Even if you're given some directions or tips any conflict resolution and troubleshooting it's on you.

And with DD there are already 4 new plugins... which can be enough to exceed this limit.

So if you remove mods - they must have an esp/esm - otherwise the number will not decrease

But if you use a third-party mod list - you don't initially know which mod might be an important prerequisite for another mod in the list

Without adequately addressing these issues... they will ultimately have little chance of success.

Personally, I'm not a fan of ready-made mod lists like this... because they prevent an essential element of modifying games -> learning how everything works together.

Whats the end plugin count look like for Nolvus? Would prefer not to squeeze in mods on the end if its close to the cap. I've been considering downloading it and heavily modifying it to my tastes but I wouldn't really want to go about merging parts of the mod pack... that sounds like a recipe for disaster without asking the creator what is safe to merge.

251 ESM + ESP and more than 2k ESL files according to another Nolvus user who asked a similar question a few days ago (the thread I linked above).

And I wouldn't recommend merging stuff, especially if it's in a premade list that is likely going to get updated. You can get a lot done via ESL plugins if you really need the space. Merging regular plugins isn't gonna solve the issue of that modlist being very close to the limit.

I was thinking of replacing the body mods in use and thats fairly simple. Just got to rebuild all the armours afterwards in line with that.

Sexlab 1, Devious devices 3, Schlongs of skyrim another one + Schlong addons who take one slot each. I don't see much room in there tbh ?

I am using Nolvus Ascension as a base for my build. It is a very easy place to start to get the visual quality I want without having to do a more time consuming process.

 

One thing to note about the modpack in its base state, most of the ESPs are already ESLified to the maximum, I was only able to find a few extra that could be flagged as an ESL by compacting FormIDs. So you will only get extra ESP slots by removing unwanted features, and by ESLifying as many of the mods you want to add as possible.

 

It doesn't come with many tools loaded. You will have to add tools like Synthesis, LOOT, FNIS, and ESLify Everything yourself. Make sure you have output mods created for the tool you want to use.

 

I wanted the visual feel of Nolvus so I did not add or remove many of those types of features and I did not add  any mod that would require a rebuild of DynDOLOD.

Another thing is that the build list will crap itself unless the map mods are at the very bottom of the load order, yes after occlusion.esp and DynDOLOD.esp. Problem is that when using LOOT it will want to move some of the stuff around, I found so long as I disable the map mods before running LOOT (the tool not the button) I can enable them after sorting and manually place them at the bottom of my load order.

Nolvus ascension can be tweaked quite a bit, however it will require a lot of work to make it stable, and it will most likely never be as stable as the pure Nolvus Ascension build or your own custom build for that matter.  Modpacks are a nice shortcut, sometimes.

One thing to note about the modpack in its base state, most of the ESPs are already ESLified to the maximum, I was only able to find a few extra that could be flagged as an ESL by compacting FormIDs. So you will only get extra ESP slots by removing unwanted features, and by ESLifying as many of the mods you want to add as possible.

 

It doesn't come with many tools loaded. You will have to add tools like Synthesis, LOOT, FNIS, and ESLify Everything yourself. Make sure you have output mods created for the tool you want to use.

 

I wanted the visual feel of Nolvus so I did not add or remove many of those types of features and I did not add  any mod that would require a rebuild of DynDOLOD.

Another thing is that the build list will crap itself unless the map mods are at the very bottom of the load order, yes after occlusion.esp and DynDOLOD.esp. Problem is that when using LOOT it will want to move some of the stuff around, I found so long as I disable the map mods before running LOOT (the tool not the button) I can enable them after sorting and manually place them at the bottom of my load order.

Nolvus ascension can be tweaked quite a bit, however it will require a lot of work to make it stable, and it will most likely never be as stable as the pure Nolvus Ascension build or your own custom build for that matter.  Modpacks are a nice shortcut, sometimes.

Well uh,

 

As said by others here, "We have no idea what the mod pack author did."  Well that is general idea anyway.

 

So lets assume that your mod pack contains the following mod,

"SOS" Schlongs of Skyrim SE.

 

Alright so which version of SOS?

Well you might say, SE version obviously right?

But I have been modding for years and only just found out yesterday that SOS SE comes with a DLL file that will cause crashes if you change the load order!

Example, you add another mod after having played the game with SOS installed.

Well shit as a mod author and user, I can safely tell you that adding, removing mods happens all the time everyday, hell I add load mods each day I play.

See the problem?

Right so crashes all the time, only just found out about this issue myself.

It was a hard thing to determine the issue, found out by pure luck happened to be "reading" random posts on a completely unrelated mod comments section, and then decided hell I better look that up.

I know someone is going to say use a crash log, well I was and it never left a log about that DLL.  >< very lucky I got the information I needed by reading in the right place at the right time.

 

Anyway there is a solution to SOS DLL version issue

For all I know someone will read what I have written here and this will help them and not be a complete waste of time.

 

The mod requirements list for Devious Devices will not send you to this version of the link btw but to the DLL version, which will cause you crashes if you alter your load order without following some very specific steps.

Right so basically a lot of people that use DD probably have regular crashes and no one knows why.

 

 

Getting down to the bottom of figuring out my crash issue drove me nuts, I could clearly remember playing a character start to finish to level 100+ without crashes on a hefty lovers lab load order with full combat overhaul to boot.  How did that happen?  Well that worked out because once I started playing I did not add or remove anything.  Turned out SOS DLL really really does not like changes to ESM/ESP orders, even adding an outfit would upset it.

Es war schwierig, das Problem zu bestimmen, ich fand durch reines Glück heraus, dass ich zufällige Beiträge in einem völlig unabhängigen Mod-Kommentarbereich „gelesen“ hatte , und beschloss dann, dass ich das besser nachschlagen sollte.

Ich weiß, dass jemand sagen wird, dass man ein Absturzprotokoll verwenden soll. Nun ja, das habe ich getan, und es wurde nie ein Protokoll über diese DLL hinterlassen. ><Es war ein großes Glück, dass ich die Informationen, die ich brauchte, zur richtigen Zeit am richtigen Ort gelesen habe.

 

Auf jeden Fall gibt es eine Lösung für das Problem mit der SOS-DLL-Version

Soweit ich weiß, wird jemand lesen, was ich hier geschrieben habe, und dies wird ihm helfen und keine völlige Zeitverschwendung sein.

 

Die Mod-Anforderungsliste für Devious Devices führt Sie übrigens nicht zu dieser Version des Links, sondern zur DLL-Version, was zu Abstürzen führt, wenn Sie Ihre Ladereihenfolge ändern, ohne einige ganz bestimmte Schritte zu befolgen.

Richtig, im Grunde kommt es bei vielen Leuten, die DD verwenden, wahrscheinlich regelmäßig zu Abstürzen, und niemand weiß, warum.

 

 

Als ich der Lösung meines Absturzproblems auf den Grund ging, wurde ich wahnsinnig. Ich konnte mich deutlich daran erinnern, wie ich einen Charakter von Anfang bis Ende bis Level 100+ ohne Abstürze gespielt habe, bei einem umfangreichen Laborauftrag für Liebhaber mit kompletter Kampfüberholung obendrein. Wie ist das passiert? Nun, das hat geklappt, denn sobald ich angefangen habe zu spielen, habe ich nichts hinzugefügt oder entfernt. Es stellte sich heraus, dass die SOS-DLL wirklich keine Änderungen an ESM/ESP-Befehlen mag, selbst das Hinzufügen eines Outfits würde sie stören.

When a load order change causes crash.

That usually traces back to a specific mod(s).

 

In SOS DLL example,

DLL looks for hexi placement on first time startup.

Since SOS is now ESP and not ESM, its load hexi is prone to change as the end-user adds mods mid play.

 

Only way to resolve that is to remove SOS, then load game and save game....Then install sos again, so it finds its hexidicimal location again for the first and only time.

 

OR simply use the other SOS that has no DLL.

 

Under ideal circumstances a mod user should not be experiencing a crash when changing up the load order.

Yes there is an element of risk when changing load order and it is certainly higher on heavier set ups than lighter ones.

 

However it is not an iron clad rule when one has proper tools and knowledge to fix the issues that come up during play.

 

Honestly if it always resulted in crashing it would make mod development a total nightmare.
